  • The C-reactive protein (CRP) test measures the concentration of CRP, a protein that's produced in your liver, in your blood. During episodes of acute inflammation or infection, or with chronic inflammation, your liver responds by releasing CRP into the bloodstream. CRP interacts with your body's complement system, a part of your immune system's defense mechanism that helps eliminate pathogens such as bacteria and viruses.
    It typically measures CRP in the range from 0.3 to 10 mg/L. The regular CRP test is ordered for those at risk for infections or chronic inflammatory diseases. It measures CRP in the range from 8 to 1000 mg/L (or 0.8 to 100 mg/dL).
    Purpose of Test
    You may have a CRP test to check for inflammation in your body due to an infection or a chronic inflammatory disease or to assess your risk of developing heart disease. Though this test can detect inflammation, it doesn't show where the inflammation occurs or what's causing it. Because of this, it's considered a general indicator, not a specific test.
    Another blood test that's often ordered together with a CRP test is known as the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR or sed rate), which also looks for inflammation. Both CRP and ESR yield non-specific information about inflammation, but one notable difference between the two tests is that changes are reflected more quickly with CRP compared to ESR. For example, your CRP level may drop to normal following successful treatment of an infection more quickly, while ESR remains elevated for a longer period.
    In cases of chronic inflammatory diseases, such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and lupus, your doctor can utilize the CRP test to assess how effective a specific treatment is and monitor any periods of disease flare-up.

    Sir
    When my brother is suffering from covid ..his CRP level was 11 on 3rd may..after 10days we checked it came to less than 2 on 12 may after 15 days testing all blood reports came normal but CRP level reached to 16 nd Oxygen improved to 97. What it means pls advise lungs still infected or any other disease happen. No diabetes

    • @TheScientificGurus
      @TheScientificGurus  3 года назад +2

      do not repeat the the again and again if the condition is severe, your case is a mild infection and within a month CRP will vary and cannot be normal... so better to treat on the basis of symptoms.... CRP will be normal after a month, and do breathing exercises so that capacity will me max, however his oxygen is perfect.... nothing to worry....

      As per the details you mentioned, you don't need any further medicine, and I don't know why you are repeating CRP again and agin...if doctor suggested then ok but no need if you are feeling well and it's in decreasing trend... You just take healthy diet... Protein diet, Omega 3 ashwagandha turmeric powder Ginger garlic.... Supplements... Respiratory exercises yoga....
      Will further normalised the inflammation which is coming.... And CRP is daily fluctuations parameter....so if you are asymptomatic then will be fine....
      Take care🙏

      My opinion, no need... I think you are recovering very well inflammation goes down with significant value...and it will be in normal range...so assume yourself as normal..follow good diet do that weakness if present will be removed...when u feel energizer then back to your work...
      Just follow your symptoms if any.. which is important not the repeat CRP...

      Your question is absolutely correct, I recommend you to just wait and do repeat test after a month or 20 days...you will get normal level...and by the mean time...
      Just follow anti-inflammatory diet, fruits, vegetables...and all... Omega, vitamins, minerals...so that it will boost your immune level...and inflammation reduced...

    • @TheScientificGurus

      No need to focus of CRP...just relax your muscle pain and leg pain...any kind of body's inflammation will slightly increase your CRP.... Any infection or severe disease will significantly increase your CRP like COVID....so it's depend on inflammation and level of inflammation... I think it will be recovered very soon.... Just...be relax and don't walk in pain... Walking is very good...and no need to it at high level unless your feel better...
      Take fruits Nd multivitamins and minerals....Zinc is very important for body....and vitamin B12

    Sir my mother was tested positive on May 5th and she used antibiotics in 1st week and her CRP was normal. In second week CRP raised to 13 and steroid was used. And which when CRP tested it came back to normal. After 3 days on completion of steroid she was having fever and CRP raised to 66 and doctor prescribed steroids after which her CRP came down to 9. How again after 1 week when tested. CRP is 32 now she is not having any symptoms and too much weakness or any difficulty. How can we take precautions in order to not increase and control the CRP. Please suggest. And also when can she take vaccine as doctor said 6 week after the covid she can take vaccine but now since CRP is high from when should we consider the time ? To take vaccine

    • @TheScientificGurus
      @TheScientificGurus  3 года назад +1

      Thank you for sharing the detailed information, as per infection date... May was the period of her infection... because generally it will take time around 1-2 months to recover back to normal.....as your mother possibly the age of 50+.. then give 1 month alteesst to recover from the day when she was negative... So, I can assume June is the recovery month... As per her condition, if no other previous clinical profile and medicine is continued... She is absolutely normal now a days... So for the safer side I suggest 2 week of July will be the best time for her vaccination... Her CRP will be absolutely normal.... And no need for repeat test again and again for CRP

      Thank you for information, if you have seen the vedio till end... I have included all the solutions... But still I want to mention..if you don't have any Symptoms or disease then follow a good routine such as yoga and diet then body will speed up the recovery...
      For example take turmeric in milk, take lemon in morning, do respiratory exercises in morning.....take ashwagandha turmeric ginger tea... don't take anything in excess...
      Our body has natural mechanism to fight the existing inflammation....🙏🙏🙏

    My grandma is tested positive. O2 is in between 92-95. Her CRP is 28. And has mild fever. Is it any serious issue? Should we admit her in hospital?

    • @TheScientificGurus
      @TheScientificGurus  3 года назад

      Oxygen is perfect, no need for any hospitalized at this stage if no more serious symptoms occurred... I belive she will be okay within a week... And in mild symptoms no need to worry... Give medicine as per her choice..what she accepts... PCM onky for fever...
      CRP is perfectly fine... As she is getting old..may be other symptoms are associated which cause 28 CRP... But no need for panic....
      Just control and monitor other associated parameters...her previous medicines if she is having any issues...
      Rest give a good diet as she can accept easily....

    Can you please explain about d dimer

    • @TheScientificGurus
      @TheScientificGurus  3 года назад +1

      Sure..
      A D-dimer test is a blood test that checks for, or monitors, blood-clotting problems. A positive test means the D-dimer level in the body is higher than normal and suggests someone might have blood clots.
      D-dimer is one of the protein fragments produced when a blood clot gets dissolved in the body. It is normally undetectable or detectable at a very low level unless the body is forming and breaking down blood clots. Then, its level in the blood can significantly rise. This test detects D-dimer in the blood.
      So, in COVID the level was reported to be increased in hospitalized patients... That means...the tendency of clotting and clot dissolution increased due to Corona virus....which can be dangerous anytime...so doctors added anticoagulant drugs in the medications which is ongoing.....
      Hope this is clear...if you want more information then I can plan a separate vedio on that...

    My mother was found positive on 13 April then in hRCt her score was found 16/25 on 6 may and her CRP is 37.25 and ESR is 115. She also has rheumatoid artharitis. Doctors are saying she is still positive it’s very confusing how will infection and CRP decreasing how she will recover back it’s been 51 days since she was found positive. Please help and suggest sir

    • @TheScientificGurus
      @TheScientificGurus  3 года назад

      Thank you for sharing the details information, first of all CRP and COVID positivity is not directly linked. She may be negative or positive irrespective of CRP value, it can be possible that her CRP will remain high as you mentioned RA profile. Inflammation will remain in her body, as she is on RA treatment.
      Without repetition of RTPCR how can you say she is positive, is so much time is passed on. I suggest go and repeat the test, she is definately negative with respect to COVID test.
      But it can be possible if you will get positive report, because you mentioned her HRCT score was high 16/25.. it may take 2 months to recover. Now she will decide if she is completely asymptomatic then repeat RTPCR but lungs infection will take time to become normal. But you no need to worry about HRCT score no need to repeat, whatsoever medicine was prescribed just finish the course and follow the symptoms.
      In case any issue, I suggest to go for additional blood test because she is having RA profile...

    • @TheScientificGurus

      All Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory foods... Colored fruits, vegetables...
      Berries, nuts, Omega 3 source such as fish, broccoli, mushroom, grapes, use olive oil instead of refined oil, if you like dark chocolate then it's best take dark chocolate and coffee....
      Green leafy seasonal vegetables... Nuts all kind, milk with turmeric powder...if green turmeric then it's best...
      All these things reduce inflammation and finally reduce CRP....
      And avoid taking junk foods, oily, fried, packed... marketed foods... Because.. these all contain free radicals, which cause increased inflammation and CRP.,..

      Joint pain pehle se hai ki abhe start hua hai... Is it COVID positive per negative?....
      Simply take anti inflammatory

      As per the case, and infection level... Unko antibiotics infection chalega...and agar infection jada hoga to accordingly small surgery.... Don't bother about CRP...just plan to reduce inflammation and infection... CRP automatically neeche ajayegaa
