I remember coming in for a firm landing into a rainy Tokyo Haneda back in 2013. Our JAL Dreamliner decelerated hard and swerved left and right as the pilots fought to maintain control. There have been other bumpy arrivals, but regardless, landing is always my favorite stage of a flight. The airplane travels slower which gives you a chance to admire the landscape below. You also get to see and sometimes hear, the control surfaces moving and the landing gear being extended. Finally, you can see how the pilots are making tiny adjustments to the ailerons and spoilers to keep the aircraft on course during the approach.

Very nice video. All this is calculated by the EFB or even sent to the aircraft nowadays by the dispatch office. I believe the A350 can calculate the exact amount of braking and reverse thrust required to exit the runway at a particular taxiway at the appropriate speed.

Great video! I hope to see more videos regarding airplane flight calculations in future from you guys 😊

In the example of LDA vs ALD, you are using the 60% factor twice and it is incorrect. LDA must be equal or larger than the ALD*1.67. It is the same as saying that ALD must be equal or less than LDA*60%

I once flew from London to Amsterdam but when I landed it used like 2600 meters of the runway even tho it was a very empty plane and it sounded like it was using max reverse thrust, does anyone know why?

They should not be any regulations about calculation, lawmakers, don’t know.

That Qatar Airways A380 had a very shallow and level approach and landing by the looks of things. Looked like it wasn't a bad landing.

    8000m runway! Seriously? 5 miles.
