Hey mate great update after not seeing a video from you for a while! The garden has grown very nicely and is really productive now, enjoy those wonderful fruits, all looks so tasty.
Many thanks Ben! Hey sorry about the mangoes as I have promised a few RUclipsrs and also a large family to divide the rations, but happy to share many of the different fresh varieties for you to try next season 🙂 Also if you are interested in the Fay Zee Siu lychee marcot to experiment please PM and let me know as I have many people asking me for them.
Thanks mate, I got to check out your channel a while back upon George's recommendation video "Acknowledging new potential superstar RUclipsr's of tomorrow". Credit goes to you have a cool greenhouse setup in Melbourne and potential success with so many exotic & tropical fruit trees 👍
I dreamt of your garden the last few nights before you posted this video! I swear the timing was serendipitous. You have the best tropical fruit garden south of Brisbane, which is so inspiring for others in the greater Sydney area. Also, thanks for filming this in great detail, it would've taken hours to compile and join.
Likewise George I also watch your channel and have high respect for your long time commitment & contribution to encourage others to grow exotic fruit trees in Melbourne and around AU. I see good signs on your Kwai Mai Pink Lychee it is slowly establishing and so fingers cross you may get some fruits this season 🤞 I also notice your frustration failing the Peanut Butter fruit tree several times and so I have a large branch on my tree that was meant to be prune... instead I can try to marcot and if successful can get back to you in the near future 🙂
@@RealLifeFruitopia... no worries George. I will just try marcotting anyway as there is no guarantee it will be a success and can dispose into the green bin anytime. But you'll be surprise the branch is extra large around 1.7m in a y-shape structure with one side full of flowers and the other has fruit.
Wow very impressive mate 👍 I can see all the hard work put in Those are some interesting shape jujubes, so many impressive trees to comment on lol Glad to hear your costada has started flowering and producing for you now, they are some mister lychee at the end wow That zipper on the net has got to be very handy and the those fruit thieves need some traps left around 😅 Paul is certainly a top bloke he’ll love his gifts
Thanks Neil, it's been a while and I hope you are well. Sorry for the long reply but if you are interested in some of the marcots, please PM and let me know. Pic(1) I have x2 Biew Kiew Longan available with fruits hanging on & roots visable seen through clear side of pod. Pic(2) x1 Chompoo Longan avail. Pic (3,4) Fay Zee Sui x2 extra large size & x1 medium size avail. Pic(5) KP mangoes beginning to yellow so not only Paul, I would also like to send some fresh ones down for you to try to celebrate our gardening venture into the year 2025. Pic(6) Only a heads up if you or Paul interested in extra large size Peanut Butter fruit tree should George not decide to take. Still have not marcot yet but man, it is huge over 2m in y-shape structure with one side of the branch full of flowers while the other side has fruit drive.google.com/file/d/1TXIz-B9AFwNkgNGpvnxwiAkVKPwm9Xzr/view?usp=drive_link
What a beautiful and impressive garden. Love all the tags and signs around the garden. Also great combination of in-ground and potted trees. You're fully utilizng the space. I've started planting things in Spring 2021 (Blacktown area) so hopefully will get to your level in a few years 😊
Hi @desidownunder2085, I've finally meet the man! I have seen you on many Facebook posts, congrats on getting lychee fruits for the first time and also sorry to see your banana bunch fell off during the heavy windy days. I am based out in south west Sydney and who knows we may run into each other possibly @Bravo nursery 😄
Wow mate, I am very grateful for everything. I left a comment yesterday with my contact info but I think because I added my email it automatically got hidden. Neil will send it through. Thanks again mate
No worries Paul, I'll wait to get your email details from Neil or alternatively get it from one of your earlier video going down to Mr. Can's nursery to give out dragonfruit cuttings
Beautiful fruit garden. Hi mate, I want to buy a one of the larger marcotted lychee. I am in Sydney and pickup in your convenient time. Let me know, cheers.
I don't sell but instead giving these away to RUclipsrs I know or are compassionate growing exotic fruit trees like myself. There is only one left about 1.5m long which I had to check on tonight because the pod cover is all black and I can confirm the rooting is a success drive.google.com/file/d/15P9VIcZKCBSAKk0uHJ56IQ7jbZFI_N9H/view?usp=drive_link Where about are you in Sydney and please note there is another person in line before you who is located in Haymarket?
Believe me you would not want any bigger yard as it is very hard work maintaining and so people I see bosting on the Internet having acres of land for their food forest, I would say good luck to them 🙂 I have no interest to sell but rather donate to enthusiasts if you are not too far from where I am in Sydney and since I am Private would just prefer dropping it in your letterbox or front door and run off.
Thank you but i know it’ takes a lot of time and effort to grow those tropical fruit trees. I can’t take them for nothing. More over I am interested in your knowledge about them. Would love to start a group of like minded subtropical fruit tree growers from Sydney. I live in the city and belong to two community garden here. 😂😂let’s keep in touch.
Also I am picking up 6 two years old mango trees from a backyard grower today to graft mature mango trees onto them. As such I would love a few branches of your most prolific fruiting mango trees like Kensington. 😂😂😂any stem that has a growing bud will do. As for the air layered Lychee- I would love one, will exchange any thing for them. I have access to two gardens, but then I don’t think you have any space to grow anything else 😂😂😂please send the mango stem if you can’t drop them off to Haymarket. 😂😂😂
I got mine advance size in order to reduce waiting time to fruit. When the trees are strong & large enough , I transplant them into the ground in an area which gets plenty of sun
Thanks for the video. I would like to know what is the climate like where you live? What is the lowest temperature in a year? What is the highest temperature? What is the humidity? How many days does it rain?
Please use the link plantnet.com.au/plant-care/perfect-fruit-tree-to-grow/ Sydney is located in the "warm temperate" zone on the east coast of Australia. Where I live the lowest temperature could reach around 3°C at night in winter and a scorching 41°C during the day in summer. Sorry I do not track the number of raining days per year, but can confirm that there is adequate natural rains, tap water supply + rainwater tank storage to keep all my fruit trees healthy.
Where about's have you faced your Lychee tree? North South East or West facing for Sunrise Or Sunset? - I've never had luck with Lychees in Sydney.... they either get scorched by sun.... or have been infected by leaf mites- Also is your tree from seed or from Grafted purchase?
I have indicated the sunrise & sunset positions at 14:01 and had also share tips growing lychees on my sample dwarf Wai Chee variety from another similar question - photo taken today drive.google.com/file/d/1YXNQEeoQjh6v0d4nXO9d0Dq4l5P4BARt/view?usp=drive_link All mine are marcots and I try to use my hands to brush off black scale or hose down the white powder I believe are called woolly aphids.
Thanks mate, the jackfruit trees are seedling yellow flesh and it did put out a strong odour ripening smell last season when I havest in late autumn (May-2024). The flesh is tasteless so I still got a couple more years required for the tree to grow bigger in order to get proper ripening fruits 🙂
Hi just came across your vlog, from Melbourne starting to grow these exotic trees Longan and lychee do you plant them in full sun or should put them next to taller tree to provide shade. Your advice is appreciated. Thanks
When the trees are small & young they do need protection from the harsh weather elements such as storm, fierce winds, sunburnt etc and so I will not give mine full sun. I gradually increase the size of the pot or growbags for 3-4yrs before I plant mine into the ground e.g. the Wai Chee variety lychee tree you see fruiting in the ground was about 4yrs old and in 75L growbag when I transplanted it into the ground last year. Cheers & good luck!
Sorry no, Sydney lies in the 'warm temperate' zone and would be impossible to naturally grow and get Purple Mangosteen fruits as they are truely ultra-tropical trees along with the Durian, Rambutan etc. Instead I try to grow it's distant garcinia cousin the Achacha which has more chances to bear fruits here in my climate.
You don't expose the young fruits to sun you'll burn them. Also you donot prune when the fruits have been set. You prune after harvest. You are very lucky if you have a good harvest here.
If you are referring to the Chompoo Longan variety segment, I think I had express myself fairly clear. Many of us are not fortunate to be in the tropic or sub-tropic zone but rather marginal/temperate climate and so will struggle to see our fruits develop to maturity when the cold winter arrives which can either stall, split or even rot the fruits. I tried something different this season I have given the heavy dense foliage a heavy prune to allow the flowering panicles get more exposure to sunlight in hope it would set fruit and reaches maturity quicker. Here's a legit Australian website link showing studies conducted on 2 variety longan trees the harvesting time which can take fairly long anywhere between 6 - 9.5 months www.agric.wa.gov.au/minor-fruits/longans-western-australia
Looking fantastic. Well done mate 😊😊😊
