I seem to get this message every time I boot up and I have to adjust the time and date or else it tells me that everything is out of sync. I'll try and change the battery though. I have to say this is insane if this is the issue! Happy also that it could be a quick fix. Thanks for posting.
Got a brand new build, that dang battery on the MOBO caused the monitor to now have any signal, took it out put it back in , now I can see the bios on the monitor. But I'm stuck at the Splash Screen , do I need to change the battery completely? Appreciate your reply.
In the bios go to "Advanced mode" (f7), then in the boot tab, and deactivate the option "allow the use of F1 in case of error". So it starts you alone without the need to give that combination of keys. This error happens due to a problem with the disk.
This works if you only want to stop seeing the problem, but it won't get rid of the problem as the motherboard still cannot replicate its last settings.
I figured out my issue. I was using an extension cord for cable management to connect my pc and my desktop but when I plugged my pc back into the wall instead it started back up again 🙌🏽🙌🏽
Is it safe to keep continuing using the PC like normal till you get a new battery. I’ve been maintaining my normal gaming while wait for the battery and I’m just hoping it won’t cause damage

Hi, Thanks for this, for mine to work I had to remove the the Usb's before starting. Otherwise It booted Into the F1/ F2 Screen and pressing the F1/F2 button did nothing. I have now changed the Battery and working now.
I am on an Asus P8Z68-V LE and I still get this message after changing the CMOS battery. Have read lots of people getting the same on different forums.

My pc used to come up with the splash screen saying American megatrends but now it comes up with this other splash screen with the motherboard manufacturer which I’ve never seen before also don’t know if it’s a good or bad thing but it will still boot to windows. It’s a real head scratcher to me. The only thing I can think of is either replacing the cmos battery? 🤷♂️
With my PC I turn it on and goes to American page thing to reset Bois but nothing works keyboard doesn't register idk if I have hubs or how to get them but I doesn't work could U please tell me how to do it

My PC has had this screen for about a year now I watched other video’s and they all recommend to get a new CMOS, but my god i consider my self pretty tech savvy then to Come to find out all I needed to do was cut the power and push Power Button, safe to say I feel like a damn idiot. I oressed F2 and IT does this thing, where IT says: "reboot and select proper voit device or insert boot media in selected voit device and press a key" And it does it EVERY TIME i try to tuen The pc off, and turn IT on again. And it won't let me go to The start screwn where im able to press f1
My computer had American Megatrends was showing up for me, but I think it was a different error code. I had a usb over surging. Turned out that my micro USB was sticking more than half way out.
Please help. My pc hangs at splash screen. On pressing DEL it shows American megatrend page with message Press Esc for BBS menu Initializing USB controllers....Done, pressing Esc does nothing it hangs there only. It does not detect HDD, cd drive, only 1 out of 6 usb working. Resetting Cmos didn't worked, Cmos battery is new. Pc starts two times, first for 2 seconds then off then switches on. My pc specification (pls don't laugh) G41M mother board Intel core 2 duo 1×2 GB ddr3 ram 1333 Mhz Seagate 250 gb hard drive.
Soo 6 months ago, I fixed my computer just the way you did. Now I have the same problem. I figured it’s ok I’ll do what I did last time. But it’s not working this time. Now I’m stuck.
This is most unfortunate for me. Because of my living situation, I live in an RV with an inverter-generator that I have to power down every night before bed. So every night before I power down, I turn off my desktop computer and switch off the PSU then hit the power button to basically drain the motherboard. Before coming here, I had a strong feeling that it was my CMOS because of the symptoms, but failed to realize what I was doing every night to my desktop. My question is; Should I now just turn off my desktop as normal and leave it that way? Regardless, I am unable to keep power to my desktop at all times.
My Computer is doing this right now. but it wont boot even if I save the BIOS settings it still goes to the American Megatrends screen, I am going change my Battery out tomorrow, but I am thinking it might be more than that.
This kind of problem occured to me just now, tried changing the CMOS and temporarily solved the problem. but the next time i opened my desktop, the problem occured again. Hope you help me. it is pretty annoying seeing this type of error. Thank You!

I'm pretty sure that's not bios issue but failing mosfet or capacitor. Best bet to replace motherboard.

If you press f1 and it won't boot, then your SSSD is toast. Buy a better brand. A good cheap brand is Silicon.

Buying some additional CR2032 batteries is a small price to pay to protect your computer the way you are doing. Keep up the good work!

If you changed the battery and this persists, its most likely the SSD maybe a cheap Lexar is famous for this.

So I got past this point, but I can’t install windows 10 it keeps recycling
It goes right back to the error menu when I exit he BIOS thing.
