RealityCapture tutorial: Divider Script

- In this tutorial, you will learn how to use divider script, which separates existing reconstruction region in the open RealityCapture instance into rows and columns (matrix grid), and export those reconstruction regions (optional: with overlap).
Exported reconstructed regions are named based on their position in the grid. Please note that columns are defined on the Y axis, and they advance in the positive direction (+Y), and rows are defined on the X axis, and they advance in the positive direction (+X).
You will also be shown a script that can be used as an addition to the divider script. This script will import back every reconstruction region separately based on its name (rows and columns), and execute commands of your choosing, or wait for the interaction in the Command Prompt while you work manually in RealityCapture.
In this video we manually use the cut by box tool, now we have the CLI command -cutByBox , please refer to the in-app help to see more details and the parameters.

This is very clear, I was able to follow and make it work, thanks! It's hard to find this tool and it is so useful, it would be great if the RC tips panel suggested this workflow, and it would be even better to have this functionality built into RC itself!
Great tutorial, this script will be wery useful. Thanks guys! ;)
hello, i used this tools in my project .But some problems arose during the reconstruction process, Cause the program to crash.
When I restart this script , Some blocks become empty
What kind of crash have you received? What were your used settings?
@@CapturingRealityLack of memory caused the problem, but I've fixed it. It's hard to export and merge them now. I will use them in my cesium project.
would be great to see similar tutorial but for normal photogrammetry like sculptures, broken buildings and all that more artistic stuff.
Thanks for bring that topic with nice example
Basically it can be used also for these examples, but the reconstruction region will be divided in rows and columns.
@@CapturingReality is there a way to cut the mesh also vertically? Could you share such a script please?
@@showpixelvr It should be possible, but there is no script created, yet.
Great.
Is it possible to set the division areas in metres, for example, 10 metres square? And position these relative to the central axis at coordinate 0,0,0?
At the moment my data set is too big to work on. And so I want to do the project in sections at full High Quality, and bring them back together with fewer tris, unwrapped and retextured in HQ.
Hi Graham, there weren't any changes in the script. But you can try to change it according to your needs.
how to skip pause to render an ortho projection. i didn't want to pause and click ortho projection button in every time. just like auto divide model in the video. it is automated.
thanks.
Hi, you can delete this pause in the script and add there command for ortho creation, but the script would be very complex and it would be necessary to replace lines from a template rcortho file with lines from the rcbox files, but the georeferenced position info is not always on the same lines, and this is why pause is used in this case.
The use saved reconstruction regions scritp is not included in the zip file. Can you update the file in the description?
Can you try download again?
