Stump has one of the most beautiful head voice/falsettos out there. It's punchy and powerful, yet delicate and vulnerable at the same time. And his vibrato is otherworldly.
This is so funny to me because Patrick probably has no idea he’s doing anything of these things because he’s self taught lmao he’s just like “yup that sounds good”
@@iirorantahalvari881 he only started singing in 2001 when fob first started playing, and to my knowledge he didn't receive any lessons on his voice for his early career. maybe in the early 2010s he was taught but for a good few years he sang without being taught. he imitated some of his favorite musicians like elvis costello
Patrick’s voice is so compelling and anthematic, and I love how great he sounds live... he is one of the rare ones that sound just like the record or even better at times!
You made me see that I have SO MUCH to learn! I mean you have opened an entirely new door of opportunity to me and I just want to say thank you so much. Patrick Stump's work as a solo artist, all of fall out boy, and hundreds of other bands and artists inspired me to start delving deeper and deeper into the outer reaches of creating music. And you showed me how to take flight. I only learned vibrato and pitch control up until this point, and you have given me the inspiration to take the next step. Thank you for all of the help and advice, you're awesome!
i genuinely developed a natural vibrato from Patrick Stump, like as a teen my singing was influenced forever based on how much inspiration I took from his vocals and how well it fit into my own.
I like how you include dry vocals along with more produced vocals for better context! Also, I believe your listeners would really appreciate Dallas Green, whether though know him or not. Such a unique vocalist.
Man this is incredible I'm so glad you talked about The Phoenix in this video. I had been struggling to approach that high B4 in "You know time..." and when you mentioned using the "yawn" approach it suddenly clicked to me why my tone was so wrong - I was hitting the note but using the dying cat approach so it wasn't sounding quite correct. You are an incredible teacher Chris, thank you so much!
@@chrisliepe This! Would love to see this. Sometimes I'm getting right on point with Brendon and sometimes totally wiped out. Ballad of Mona Lisa vs Into the Unknown.
OMG Patrick KING Stump! besides singing in a spectacular way... his tone of voice is divinely pleasant.❤👏 Fall Out Boy the best band I adore their versatility and purity as a band. (Excuse my english)
This video was so interesting, i've find that Patrick Stump and Brendon Urie have kind of similarities in their voice ! It would be so cool if you could do an how to sing like BONO from U2 he has so much soul in his voice and i can't find how he sing in such a way !
I’m sure I’m the only person asking but I’ll ask again if you could do a How to sing like Mikael Äkerfeldt from Opeth. The latest album has a lot of great different clean vox with what I’m guessing is using all of his different clean abilities. If I could choose one song for you to listen to and dissect it would have to be Harlequin Forest as it has all aspects of his range in one song 😁
Hey Chris! I had vocal lessons for two years now, but the progress I made, is nothing compared to the progress I make through watching videos. I'd love to see your episode of DEAF HAVANAS James Veck-Gilodi
Have you heard of Conor Mason from Nothing but thieves? I think he has a super clear voice, he would be great choice for another episode Btw thanks for these videos, you really help us alot
I just clicked on this video to see what it’s about. I gotta say, this video is kinda goofy the way he’s teaching how to sing like Patrick, but I like it.
Could you make another one of these, but like, more reaction style. breaking down his technique in his live performances, and giving tips on how he's singing, and how you can practice to get there
I would love to see you do a video on Lady gaga! She has such a beautiful range and such complexity especially in her live performances. I'd love to see you break it down from a technical standpoint
Hey Chris, one singer that I really would love to see here is Eric Clapton, especially the vocals in Layla, there's the high notes, the grit, just really good singing.
First thank you so much for your videos! I watch all of them and they've helped me so so so much. Also I would love to see a video on Tilian Pearson of Dance Gavin Dance. I think you would would enjoy his voice!
Singing in the style of axl rose? A video of that would be very helpful as axl has an interesting type of distortion in his mix that seems to work all the way throughout his range. And seems to take a not very chesty approach to mixing, thank you, great video. I got the Ken tamplin program and just on your channel alone you have more specific information that's helped me a crap ton!
Have you ever listened to The Devil Wears Prada? I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see a video of you teaching on Mike Hranica and how he does his screaming. Its very intense and in depth in himself. I think alot of people would enjoy you teaching what and how he does what he does!
He screamed with his throat and it fucked him up. You can hear it in his voice. I can make his sound kinda and it's not good after awhile. Lol it's not like a standard fry like Austin Carlyle. It's def more throat
What does he do for production effects? Listening to 'my songs know what you did in the dark' vocal stem, its got a distortion fx on it for sure, but the distortion sounds so slick and clean, you could mistake it for raws. What distortion is that? Whenever I try it it just sounds staticy and garbled.
Chris Liepe for sure, but I want your voice, the power and all the feeling you put into singing, my friend hahaha Keep up the good work! And hello from Brazil!
Would you ever consider doing a video on Claudio Sanchez from Coheed and Cambria? His voice is incredibly unique, and I'd be really keen to see you do a breakdown of his approach! If you ever do end up doing a video on him, I'd recommend doing songs from one of their newer 3 albums, because his voice has only gotten better with age. I think The Gutter (from Unheavenly Creatures), 2's My Favorite 1 (from Afterman: Descension), or Claudio's live performance of Atlas (ruclips.net/video/XCLUc1BtqGM/видео.html) are solid vocal showcases to start with.

Hello Chris, can u make another video about vibrato? and.. i’m from brazil, and i really wanna do the Discover Your Voice and Mixed Voice Method & Madness course because you are an excellent teacher and i really enjoy how you teach and i’ve been learning a lot with you, but $144 is for me $754,50, i know that now is $77 but this is for me $403,50 and this is 2 months of my salary (i work half-time because i study in the morning) só it’s very expensive. what i’m trying to say is that i really wanna do your course but is too expensive because i am from a poor country, can u help me with this?
Stump has one of the most beautiful head voice/falsettos out there. It's punchy and powerful, yet delicate and vulnerable at the same time. And his vibrato is otherworldly.
I cant get over this guys self awareness physically and ability to break down the techniques really well and NAIL IT!
Thanks!!
@@chrisliepe definitely!👍👌
Friendly reminder that Patrick Stump, arguably one of the strongest modern rock vocalists in the world, first auditioned to be FOB's drummer.
Thank god for Pete Wentz, I genuinely can't imagine a world where we never heard Patrick sing
This is so funny to me because Patrick probably has no idea he’s doing anything of these things because he’s self taught lmao he’s just like “yup that sounds good”
Self taught? Source on this?
i thought he received classical lessons
Bro he is educated in music lmao 💀 he is a producir nowadays who makes music for disney What the fuck you talking
Self taught maybe back in the early 2000s
Idk about that anymore though

I listened to Folie and cried so hard because he was so amazing AND he’s SELF-TAUGHT
Love Patrick Stump !!!
Did you see his live acoustic performance of Life On Mars for BBC ?
Fantastic !!!
its so crazy that you can recognize their techniques so accurately just by listening. That's so crazy
I love that he used The Phoenix so much because I love trying to but I can only do the softer parts really well
Same, especially the stretched out part of "hey", the way he sings it is so awesome
I've listened to Fall out Boy's entire discography and Patrick Stump is so theatrical and amazing it's incredible
i couldnt sing to save my life but i love hearing about patrick's voice

We need one of these for Matthew Bellamy and Brendon Urie. Both of them have insane ranges, and Matt's falsetto is legendary!
