Yeah I remember older interviews with them where they pretty much said just that--that Wentz didn't mind it as much and took the "frontman" role, which as you said is unusual for a rock band. I think it led to some mental health issues/stress on Wentz's part and Stump has said he regrets the way Pete has been portrayed in the past.

He's definitely really confident and a great performer now, but when the band was in its early days, he was very nervous playing to crowds and showing off his natural talent. He said that he used to mimic other singer's styles when performing, and the main difference between his singing before versus now is that now he's confident enough to sing like himself. As someone who used to play guitar and sing , the most underrated thing about Patrick stump is that if someone was just singing he'd sound amazing , but he's slaying a guitar the whole time, and keeping vocal control while strumming is harder than you'd think

You need to watch the full Save Rock n’ Roll video. Elton Johns featured in the song and Patrick drops down to his level. Personally think it’s one of his best live performance songs.

My little brother lives in L.A. and is great friends with Patrick Stump, (the singer). I got to meet him when l went to L.A. to visit. Dinner with my mother, brother, Patrick, and his fiancee at the time. Married now. He did a solo cd and toured. Patrick came to Dallas and had free tickets for me and my kids at the House of Blues. After the concert, there was a meet & great, and when he came out, he walked straight to us. My kids were thrilled.... Okay, so was I! He's a great and humble guy. And funny too with his road stories.

Watching someone fall in love with Patrick's voice is so special. You 100% don't expect a dude in a band that started out as a punk band sounding like THAT and yet. Also if you're looking to hear his lower register listen to Headfirst Slide into Cooperstown... from the Folie a Deux album. The bit right before he goes into the chorus the first time and then the immediate change of register for the chorus is absolutely bonkers.
You need to watch the full Save Rock n’ Roll video. Elton Johns featured in the song and Patrick drops down to his level. Personally think it’s one of his best live performance songs.

My little brother lives in L.A. and is great friends with Patrick Stump, (the singer). I got to meet him when l went to L.A. to visit. Dinner with my mother, brother, Patrick, and his fiancee at the time. Married now.
He did a solo cd and toured. Patrick came to Dallas and had free tickets for me and my kids at the House of Blues. After the concert, there was a meet & great, and when he came out, he walked straight to us. My kids were thrilled.... Okay, so was I! He's a great and humble guy. And funny too with his road stories.
