At the end you said his voice sounds like "soul punk" which is literally the name of his solo album (released 2011) I suggest looking it up it has quite a unique sound to it, also Allie live by him is pure gold
One thing about Patrick stump is he isn’t the media’s main focal point when it comes to fall out boy. Unlike most bands where people focus on the main singer Patrick didn’t want that attention. Therefore he asked the bassist (Pete Wentz) to kind of take that role
Yeah I remember older interviews with them where they pretty much said just that--that Wentz didn't mind it as much and took the "frontman" role, which as you said is unusual for a rock band. I think it led to some mental health issues/stress on Wentz's part and Stump has said he regrets the way Pete has been portrayed in the past.
I always assumed the media focused on Pete bc he was the most "attractive." I've always had the hots for Patrick though. That voice is outta this world.
The reaction about the drummer (Andy Hurley) "wouldn't wanna mess with him" and he's the quietest and nicest guy haha Also you ,might enjoy Brendon Urie's drunk history of the creation of the band Patrick Stump is in: Fall Out Boy, some prime Mr.Disco content
Come on now... I've listened to every song so many times that even if I don't know the exact word he's singing you know the WAY he sings it... Not hard to figure it out from there. Context clues are your friend 😉👍
Funny fact that FOB , TOP AND P!ATD are really good friends :) you can even find their pranks on each other. Damn they are so good in their own waaaaay😍😍 btw cute beret :3
“I KNOW THIS SONG!” I’m crying I love FOB so seeing how excited you get about Patrick (my favorite member) makes me really happy because I’m like, “Yes. Yes indeed love my boy.”
Patrick's like “Yo! I got a soul voice!” And they're like “Wait, how do you have a soul voice?” And he’s like “Yo, watch this: Yeah!” And they’re like “Oh my god! That sounds like soul!” So they put it in the song and it was like “WHERE IS YOUR BOY TONIGHT!”
PLEASE LISTEN TO "HEAVEN'S GATE" BY FALL OUT BOY. Patrick is at peak "soul voice" in it and really taps into his range and depth. I can't find any live performances of it but the recorded track is all over youtube. Please react to that one at some point, it knocked me off my feet!
I like that you mentioned his confidence. He's definitely really confident and a great performer now, but when the band was in its early days, he was very nervous playing to crowds and showing off his natural talent. He said that he used to mimic other singer's styles when performing, and the main difference between his singing before versus now is that now he's confident enough to sing like himself. Nice video btw!
Okay now that you've done Panic! At The Disco and Fall Out Boy. I feel it is only right that you do the last band in the Emo trinity, and critique Mr. Gerard Way of My Chemical Romance. Love your videos ♡
I love hearing... love for Patrick's voice. He has such a unique voice and you put a lot of the things I love about his voice into WORDS so thank you! It's nice to get some appreciation for his voice, he really can sing in any genre! You should hear the country pieces he's done!
Now you must react to Gerard Way since you reacted to Patrick and Brendon! They’re all amazing. I think that many of the artists in this genre are underrated as far as talent and vocal range. I’d love to see you react to many others especially Alex Gaskarth
An additional awesome note: Patrick has never had ANY voice training whatsoever, heck even when the band started he auditioned to be the drummer! it's virtually completely innate,
I saw an interview that he now trains with an opera singing coach and has been for the past I dont know how many years... but you are correct in saying in the beginning, he did not have any vocal training. I saw a short video with him saying that to warm up before gigs, he would sing "On the street where you live" from 'My Fair Lady' all the time. Then he realized he needed an actual vocal coach lol
HA! I friggin knew it! In another room reply in this video I differently described Brendan Urie & Patrick. By saying Brendan sounds Trained, while Patrick does not.
He had no diction pre hiatus and it makes me cry a little. But then he learned how to form words!!! So I can understand him!! because auditory things are hard for me to process anyways because of my ADHD so being able to understand any words in a song the first time is a miracle, but now I can understand on like the first time!!!
The three bands Twenty Øne Piløts, Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco are really close friends. Pete Wentz (the bassist) even signed Panic! and is working alongside former P!ATD member Spencer Smith. Brendon has even described Pete as an older brother. It's quite common that if you are a fan of one of these bands, you like the others too. That also includes My Chemical Romance (a band in the so called "Emo Trinity" with FOB and P!ATD). That's why Gerard Way is being requested so much. Aside from just these 4, people are usually fans of the bands All Time Low and Paramore. That leads to Alex Gasgarth and Hayley Williams being requested a lot. Also you probably know so many of these songs because Fall Out Boy has been quite a mainstream (at least some of the songs) band for many many years, and been a band (ignoring the hiatus) for at least 17 years.
SHE CALLED HIM SOUL PUNK WHICH IS LITERALLY THE TITLE OF HIS SOLO ALBUM/PROJECT. I am living. I love how you talk about him being confident because he literally thought he couldn't sing. He's so amazing. 😍😍💜 My baby
Pauses video “That was amazing, let’s listen to that again.” Lmao me with any of his or Brendon’s vocal performances 😂 PS I wish they had included a little bit more of his deeper notes because so many love him for the deep soul voice 💕
Bella Packowski agreed! They should have included him singing Elton John's part of Save Rock and Roll... it shook me to my core the first time I heard it live 😩👌🏻
“yo i have a soul voice” “wait how do you have a soul voice?” “yo watch this - yeEaaaAAAAAeaaAaAAAAHHHHhHhHh” also, pls do more of these with patrick. he is such a talented musician who very underrated. listen to his solo album “soul punk” which you mentioned at the end of the video, and also to “heaven’s gate”. that song slaps with so much soul
"His voice is robust like....Soul Punk" that makes me so happy that she said that bc she probably doesnt even know that he has a solo album called exactly that soul punk perfectly describes Patrick i love him so much
He spends a good chunk of the song golden (which wasn't featured here) with his lower and middle notes and away from his usual higher ones. It's a good sound and a nice change for a slower, more somber sound if you wanted to check it out in your own time or something
As someone who used to play guitar and sing , the most underrated thing about Patrick stump is that if someone was just singing he'd sound amazing , but he's slaying a guitar the whole time, and keeping vocal control while strumming is harder than you'd think
One of the things that's interesting about Patrick is he sings by muscle memory: he specifically doesn't have his own voice in the mix in his ear-pieces because he knows the pitch by how his body/diaphragm feels. It's something that makes a lot of other musicians go "bzuh?" because it's not a talent they have. Also, Pete (the bassist) is the lyricist and Patrick composes the music.
You got 💯 cookies for calling Patrick Stump cool, sexy, strong, passionate, liking his name and noticing his soul voice and what an awesome performer he is. He's such an overly polite, overly kind, kinda awkward, kinda shy and sweet guy that people only call him cute, teddy bear, or don't pay enough attention to him unless he's singing... But he's a beast on stage, a very talented musician and pretty intelligent too. Oh, he also has a great sense of humor, sarcastic but not mean.
Patrick is so absurdly unreasonably talented in so many areas it’s ridiculous I love him 😭😭 I also love seeing people talk about how incredible he is, fob is so underrated and overlooked and dismissed as ‘that band I listened to in middle school’ but they’re SO 👏🏽👏🏽 FUCKING 👏🏽👏🏽 TALENTED 👏🏽👏🏽 like the technical skill to pull some of their bullshit off is CRAZY
"even R&B" oh honey yes. in his solo album Soul Punk he has a lot of R&B and soul to his voice, arguably some of his best vocals ever are on there, I HIGHLY recommend giving it a listen, it's a criminally underrated album.
Watching someone fall in love with Patrick's voice is so special. You 100% don't expect a dude in a band that started out as a punk band sounding like THAT and yet. Also if you're looking to hear his lower register listen to Headfirst Slide into Cooperstown... from the Folie a Deux album. The bit right before he goes into the chorus the first time and then the immediate change of register for the chorus is absolutely bonkers.
You need to watch the full Save Rock n’ Roll video. Elton Johns featured in the song and Patrick drops down to his level. Personally think it’s one of his best live performance songs.
Ten years listening to Stump and I still call only understands half of what he's singing. But I still love it. I've been singing the wrong lyrics to Sugar We're Going Down for a decade but I still love the song.
I’m so happy this has finally happened 😭🙌🏼 although if you really wanna hear his low voice I’d suggest watching their live version of Headfirst Slide into Cooperstown on a Bad Bet. His tone in that song is amazing.
Rebecca Vocal Athlete Yay!! Please do trees live! It gives me chills every single time. I feel like the video you did on Tyler didn’t even remotely showcase his best vocals. He is a literal angel 😂
Since you're doing all the Fueled by Ramen artists you should do Hayley William's. That'd be the best lol but the people requesting Gerard Way, that's a super good one too.
Every time I watch someone appreciate Patrick's voice, I just remember the interview or article I read somewhere where he says a teacher told him he'd never make it as a singer in a band. It's WILD to me
Thanks to reacting for Patrick, and it was a great reaction! I don't think pop crush showed all of his best vocal moments he has more even better ones out there... albeit these are STILL amazing! :) I love his voice and he literally has 5 lugs xx OH, and it's funny you say he's confident, I don't think he's very confident irl but when he gets into the song he gets lost in it. HE'S AMAZING.
I noticed this FOB video was from 5 years ago… I wanted to suggest you do a more up to date video because they’re still a fabulous band, and completely worth your time to listen to - and I felt as though you enjoyed it last time you listened. Plus there’s a pop punk revival I’d love to hear your thoughts on
YESSSS!!! THIS IS SO GOOD!!!! Hayley Williams next please, easily one of the best female vocalists nowadays!!! I see her as the female version of Brendon Urie vocal ability wise, vice versa!
Because he uses his voice as a true instrument. Its an amazingly beautiful thing to watch and listen to. And also knowing that he has Asperger's makes it even more inspiring to me personally because his passions seem to just melt away any problems anyone in the world my have.
I loved watching your react video and I really liked that there was a wide variety of songs in the video that you reacted to, but I wish that the video had included live vocals from his solo stint as well. I'd love to see you react to those live performances as well as it shows a different style to his voice.
Wow, dude does have a voice. Much more prevalent here than, say, in the typical pop that I personally don't have a taste for,, but to each their own!, right? Please don't read me wrong, folks. Love the vocals and the videos Rebecca! What would I do without them in recent times? Laughtet in utter joy and total abandon, there'd have been a whole hell of a lot less of it! That's for sure. Much gratitude
@Rebecca You really should listen to him sing the piano version of Young and Menace here on RUclips. I also recommend you listen to their album Mania, and the older song w.a.m.s, especially the "secret" song at the end. You're welcome.
My little brother lives in L.A. and is great friends with Patrick Stump, (the singer). I got to meet him when l went to L.A. to visit. Dinner with my mother, brother, Patrick, and his fiancee at the time. Married now. He did a solo cd and toured. Patrick came to Dallas and had free tickets for me and my kids at the House of Blues. After the concert, there was a meet & great, and when he came out, he walked straight to us. My kids were thrilled.... Okay, so was I! He's a great and humble guy. And funny too with his road stories.

*”little friends”*
Pretty accurate
ImTrash new name for Fob “Patrick Stump and his little friends”
Rebecca: "He's part of the cool club"
Patrick: is wearing glasses, long straight hair, and a tee shirt
I just love when you emulate the notes they're doing, I don't necessarily understand the specifics but it's just so fascinating.
Hi Bex, we had our 1st snow last night, I'm not looking forward to winter. I plan on staying warm though, from all the ... ENERGY you exude!
Wrap up sweet fanboy!
* Pete wentz screams *
“OH WHO WAS THAT?!” 😂
Because he uses his voice as a true instrument. Its an amazingly beautiful thing to watch and listen to. And also knowing that he has Asperger's makes it even more inspiring to me personally because his passions seem to just melt away any problems anyone in the world my have.
Brendon ✅
Tyler ✅
Patrick ✅
Now it's time for Gerard Way
Its crazy cause hes super confident performing but hes really introverted and was originally supposed to be the drummer. Hes super sweet and shy irl
React to I Don't Care live, heavens gate or this: ruclips.net/video/7S7WDlF0HJ8/видео.html he did this live when I saw him and it was crazy good
I loved watching your react video and I really liked that there was a wide variety of songs in the video that you reacted to, but I wish that the video had included live vocals from his solo stint as well. I'd love to see you react to those live performances as well as it shows a different style to his voice.
You should listen to All Time Low, the singer is amazing
When she said "Who was that!?" After Pete screamed I literally said out loud "That was Pete Wentz."
Ahaahh I cracked up at you talking about the girl in the background
Wow, dude does have a voice. Much more prevalent here than, say, in the typical pop that I personally don't have a taste for,, but to each their own!, right? Please don't read me wrong, folks.
Love the vocals and the videos Rebecca! What would I do without them in recent times? Laughtet in utter joy and total abandon, there'd have been a whole hell of a lot less of it! That's for sure. Much gratitude
I love how you said "soul punk" without even knowing that was the name of his solo album 😅
💖😁
Patrick ❤️❤️❤️ FRIKKIN LOOOOVE HIM.
Also that acoustic version of Immortals almost made me cry.
Also Soul Punk ❤️
@Rebecca You really should listen to him sing the piano version of Young and Menace here on RUclips. I also recommend you listen to their album Mania, and the older song w.a.m.s, especially the "secret" song at the end.
You're welcome.
Rebecca, your vocal harmonies during Immortals were so beautiful and pleasing to listen to!
Ah wow thanks so much♥️💛
How to fall in love with Patrick Stump in under 20 minutes 😂
My little brother lives in L.A. and is great friends with Patrick Stump, (the singer). I got to meet him when l went to L.A. to visit. Dinner with my mother, brother, Patrick, and his fiancee at the time. Married now.
He did a solo cd and toured. Patrick came to Dallas and had free tickets for me and my kids at the House of Blues. After the concert, there was a meet & great, and when he came out, he walked straight to us. My kids were thrilled.... Okay, so was I! He's a great and humble guy. And funny too with his road stories.
partially thick made me laugh out loud! i love these reaction type videos. your energy really radiates through the screen
Honey, he's neither confident nor comfortable performing. It takes A LOT for him to do this. He's such a sweet soul though.
