Kenny Hinson is pretty much out of everybody's league, then and now. I was beyond lucky to have known him and the Hinsons and to have played in their band.
Kenny was the best singer ever.He had the chance to go big in other music ,but he said no,He knew that God had called him to sing and preach for him .He stayed faithful to God and he's in Heaven now.
This was the first record I played on in Nashville when I was 17 yrs old. I played on TWO WINNING HANDS the same day in the same session. Kenny was my best friend and the reason I have had a career in Nashville for so many years. I was fortunate enough to play piano this evening with them although I'd already left. There was a standing O at the end of this and outbreaks of spontaneous applause during this song that I never witnessed on that show. It wasn't cut out..you just can't hear it. ;)
This group was one of the greatest groups I've ever heard. I remember going to see them back in the 70's and 80's. Unfortunately, Kenny died of cancer in 1995. One day I'll see them again in Heaven, especially Kenny, who was my very favorite.
The greatest country gospel group....and the greatest gospel singer to hold a microphone....it gives me chills to hear this song. They simply dont make them like this anymore. Im not even into this kind of music...but, I have to respect this.
I heard this group in 1967 when they came down to southern California for a concert.. the Oak Ridge boys were still gospel and were there as well.. They've been my favorite ever since..
Ralph Emory became a very famous DJ / TV Emcee, among many other talents. I don't think he was aware of the impact this group had then and in the years to come on Southern Gospel Music!!!!!
To me one of the greatest gospel groups ever. I had the honor of being in concert with them many times. Kenny was one of the best. He and my big brother are singing up in Heaven now.
21 years since brother Kenny has been called gone from our sights but precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints for to be absent from this body is to be present with him. thank you so much brother Kenny and all the Hinsons for your wonderful anointing and spirit. rest in peace and may God continue to bless your family and your children. your legacy lives on forever more.
I loves this song so much...No one can sing it like this Guy...I just loves the Hinson...Fantastic, Absolutely, positively Beautiful....🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thank you bro Kenny for the inspiration that your singing has done for me and to the whole Hinson family they've got me through an awful lot of hard times God bless
Kenny was known in the studio as one take Kenny according to Ronny, perfect pitch, his licks were off the chart, often imitated, but never duplicated, one an only anointed singer. I had the honor of singing tenor with The New Hinsons for 3/1/2 years, so many great Kenny stories, miss him.
Ever since about 1978 the Hinsons have been my all-time favorite gospel group and Kenny, my all time favorite singer. Now the Lord has seen fit to call Kenny's son, Westin Hinson and his wife to sing for Him. Westin can and does PROUDLY sing like his Dad; but, he and his wife also have their original songs. If you want a blessing, look up Westin and invite him to your church. He's meek, humble, but oh, so annointed by the Holy Spirit, just like Kenny.
Saw them in 1978 at the Conroe, Tx. High School and they put on quiet a show. The place was packed and the crowd was shouting. They loved them. I wasn't use to that and I didn't know what to think even though I was was going to a Pentecostal church. It seemed to to us all the women were like at a rock concert. Not blaming Henson but the audience. I love their singing. I just don't know what went on that night
Hey, I appreciate and agree with your comment. But, have you heard Kenny's son Westin? He is definitely a God-send; he can sing just like Kenny. Even so, his spirit is so humble and his wife is a great singer and wonderful help-mate for Westin. Look for them to come to your town.
Thankyou for sharing this Michael....I live "down south" in New Zealand...hearing that steel guitar made me remember my dad...who played it....and who has been "gone...up where Kenny has gone" and who I imagine will be singing country style with the Angels...there will be such amazing variety ....yes...I'm homesick too....but just committed to using my time left to be used by God in intercession....and opening my mouth to witness at the "drop of a hat" to anyone he leads me too each day...it is so exciting to share his love.....
+Lois Bellingham God Bless you. Glad you enjoy this kind of music. Check out a few of my family videos at songwriter1951 if you'd like to hear some more Southern Country gospel.
Listen close to Ralph say “ he’d make a pretty fare country singer “ no Ralph he would have been the best but chose Jesus “only one life soon will be passed only what’s done for Christ will last “ God bless Kenny Hinsons family…. Kenny was offered millions of dollars several times but chose Christ… Kenny was and is the greatest male vocalist ever ❤ thank you Kenny and the original Hinsons ❤️
unreal what kenny could do...sliding between octaves so effortlessly with seemingly limitless breath supply. He unfortunately recorded a lot of corny poorly written tracks but vocally he was, and still is, unmatched.
Noah Sullivan Nearly everything except "Put me down" "The lighthouse" "That I could still go free" and "Call me gone". George Jones and Ronnie milsap both recognized Kenny's unreal vocal talent and pleaded with him to record better songs. But the group continued to record mostly sub par songs they'd written. Still my favorite gospel group, and Kenny my favorite gospel singer, but they could've been much more.
@@rigdon9952 The songs were crap dude. Yes they had great stage presence, yes they had a great backing band, yes they had unique tight harmony, yes Kenny was a lead vocal powerhouse…but…the songs were stupid and cringy. And where most artists typically grow over time regarding song choice Kenny didn’t. His voice kept improving but the Hinsons progressively recorded worse material.
Kenny Hinson is pretty much out of everybody's league, then and now. I was beyond lucky to have known him and the Hinsons and to have played in their band.
There was only "One Kenny" and never will be another! Relatives and other artist may come close, but will never match that golden voice!
absolutely awesome
Daryll LeCroy!!! Sir you did some awesome steel guitar work with the Hinsons my friend. God bless!
Wish I could have met Kenny
+Josh Hamilton I got to meet Kenny in 85. He signed my guitar which I still have. Awesome voice. There is a big void since his going home.
Kenny was the greatest male Southern Gospel singer ever, bar none!
God wanted him to sing before his throne! Praise God for the time he gave us to enjoy his talent
Yes he is the Best of all
Kenny was the best singer ever.He had the chance to go big in other music ,but he said no,He knew that God had called him to sing and preach for him .He stayed faithful to God and he's in Heaven now.
Absolutely the best vocal. Amazing! ❤

I swear but the man just could not mess up in any way, shape, form or fashion. lol #Flawless
He was definitely the greatest male singer I've ever heard. Grew up listening to him on Gospel Jubilee.

No one was as good as Kenny!!!
Ronnie Hinson wrote a book on the life of Kenny Hinson and their experiences as a group. Good book to read. Have to get on eBay, used

2020 Call me gone real soon
Call me gone
I'm going to say 1987, because that was the year TNN had it's 5 year anniversary.
We gone soon!
unreal what kenny could do...sliding between octaves so effortlessly with seemingly limitless breath supply. He unfortunately recorded a lot of corny poorly written tracks but vocally he was, and still is, unmatched.
Shannon Furrow what poorly written tracks?

Still my favorite gospel group, and Kenny my favorite gospel singer, but they could've been much more.
Everything they sang was an absolute banger. What are you talking about?

Go to Ronny Hinson FB he has all of there CDs. That’s where I get mine. I listen to them all the time. Love them everyone.❤️
