Catherine. I'm an adventure nut as well. Your videos are very inspiring as many others out there. I wish one day I can quit the job and just live as free as you. That's how free I feel when I ride my motorcycle and soar with the eagles. Live that dream cat and continue to be free. God bless.
Beautiful stuff! For all the people that allegedly head up into that area, I'm impressed you all were able to get the campsites you did and still find what appeared to be an abundant supply of wood for burning. It seems like the more popular areas typically have all their deadfall pretty much picked clean making it hard to have a fire, when they are even still allowed in such areas.
Having hiked most of the John Muir Trail and Whitney I really thought nothing would ever stand up to the beauty of the JMT but this is close if not more so in several areas. Catherine your photography is outstanding on this one. When you said how much you were moved by your surrounding I totally understand, there is something magical that happens when you are up in the high country.
I’m so glad I discovered your channel! I’m enjoying catching up on your back catalogue. What a gorgeous hike - lovely photos - fun to watch you and your friends living it up. I’m glad you have added more music to your latest videos - I think it adds a lot.
Astounding! How wonderful that you got to share the experience with two other luminaries in your world. As always, I am grateful to receive the view of life from your perspective.
I had three trips in the Sierras set up for this summer but the moquitos kept me away from all three trips. They are about as bad or worse this year than they have ever been in my memory. You now you are starting to acquire a more out-doorsie look to yourself. I like it!
My favorite place. Simply stunning. I was getting teary eyed watching this. I’ve been there five times and definitely need to go back (last time was about 10 years ago☹️. My strategy is to go after Labor Day. You don’t get the flowers, but most of the people are gone and, more importantly, I’ve never seen a mosquito. Went one time in late November. The only person i saw all week was a dayhiker in the parking lot when I got back to the car. Ok, maybe I don’t need quite that much solitude, but it was interesting.
I would HIGHLY recommend hiking up through Titcomb Basin (with a side trip to Indian Basin - feels a little like being on the moon, but with lakes everywhere) then over Knapsack Col (sorry, no trail), down to Peak Lake then pick up the Highline Trail back toward Island Lake. Fabulous loop!
Absolutely beautiful. I've been places in the Sierra that were so beautiful, they made me want to cry, and I may have even shed a tear or two. Those views remind me so much of the Sierra. Hopefully, I'll get up there some day soon.
Serenity! Amazing how it must have felt to not see cars and motor boats and trash all over. These areas need to be preserved forever. Truly heaven on Earth! Thank you so much! 😉
I did this same route in 2017! Your hiking partner was a huge help and influence via his videos! So pretty, I actually had to fight tears at times. Special range for sure!
Excellent! So many people see these views on calendars and screen shots. Thinking they would want to go there, not realizing that they can't be seen from their car window. You have to put forth the effort and do the work. Get inspired , folks get off the couch, before you are to grounded in your ways and get moving !
in a comment you mentioned an extremely important point that literally could change the overall backpacking experience by raising the "pleasure/enjoyment meter" several levels on any trip . . . in planning a trip and if you have the time, why not "take the time to smell the roses" . . . why do a 36 mile hike in 4 days @ 9 mile per day when the same trip could be done over 6 days @ 6 miles per day . . . RESULT: more time for quality photography (the point you made), more time to stop and take in the majesty of the surroundings, more time for camp set-up and campfire camaraderie, more rest, more time for morning coffee and not having to constantly push ahead where the focus of the day becomes reaching the campsite destination in time:)
Happy 3 months anniversary Catherine!! Beautiful area....Lushness carving it's way through ruggedness....however....it is your unique "Cat way" of presenting it that holds my interest throughout....those beautiful flower shots especially the red ones vs the background......the wide angle views of what you consider awesome plus your narration also. I like the squirrels too......It feels like you showed me another planet. Lol. Thanks!!!
Everyone needs to do this in their life, especially now with this pandemic. I feel that being out in nature is the answer for so many of humanity's problems. this place looks inspiring to say the least. thanks for sharing it with us. I have no words to describe the beauty of this planet, and exploring it in person is even more mesmerizing!
_When you feel emotional, it means, you're connected with Mother Earth and all of her beauty. She understands that no words are needed, it's you being one with your surroundings... and nature doesn't lie, and Mother Earth feels your emotions while being one with you. Wish I could have given this one multiple thumbs up! What a memorable trip with some great guys!!! I’m glad you included Bryan’s food hang. He has a great method that I have used with success. Best wishes from Georgia.
I normally watch your videos on my apple TV ... so never get to (or more honestly take the time) to comment. That changes today. I loved this video so much. I have watched all your videos - all. I have watched all of Bryan DeLay’s videos, all of Joey ‘s and most of Coach’s. So this was really fun to watch. Couple that with the beautiful scenery and WOW. Someday I hope to do what you’re doing and am trying to align things in my life in such a way to make that possible. I’m 57.. so time’s a ticking. The other thing I forgot about was that you had a Patreon account! I’m signing up now. My neice and I are going backpacking in Glacier in a couple of weeks.. thanks for the inspiration to keep pursuing beautiful places.
Job well done. This is Brian Miller...I hiked with the Professor (aka Bryan Delay) to the Cirque of Towers just last week (we finished our hike last Monday). You have to run if you want to keep up with The Professor...I thought about putting rocks in his pack to slow him down but I think he would just speed up with more weight! It looks like my next trip to the Winds will have to include the Titcomb Basin! Nice videography and commentary. Keep up the good work. Brian
For a variety of reasons, we couldn’t take our yearly vacations in 2019, so your videos have been a godsend to me. It’s the next best thing to being there!
Continuous improvement. Adding friends to your stories keeps things fresh. The Bridger Wilderness is the most visited Wilderness in Wyoming and Titcomb Basin is world renown. I hope your friends were not burning their garbage, especially any foil and plastic food packaging, in the fire rings. I had to pack out more foil and poly than I care to think about. The slide show at end was neat closer. Great trip.

Hey! Awesome video; my wife and I were out there climbing Fremont Peak during the same days - we saw the food bag hanging on the sign, camped in almost the same spot near Island Lake, and met Coach and had a long talk with him at the Indian Basin junction when he was headed up into Titcomb! It’s crazy we didn’t run into you guys, but oh well - we go into that area every year, and it is hands down our favorite place in the world!

This is probably your best video yet. I particularly liked all the flowers and the chipmunk! Live your dream! Real emotion comes through you and your hiking buddies.
Sorry I missed catching this epic hike when it happened last year. The final snapshot montage set to music was a precursor of the cinematic experience you are giving your growing fan base this year. Coach is a hoot too - saw him cut up and bleeding with Joey in his Big Bend NP video (I only hiked that one up on the cool plateau when I visited one spring a while back). I can see now why you had to return to the Winds this summer.
This one must have slipped past me while I was off grid. Absolutely stunning, Catherine. And it must have meant to be running into Coach. Greetings from cold, snowy Colorado, ugh.
Catherine just watched this one because as you know I’ll be getting on the PCT again soon for a LASH to get another long part of the trail done but I may be getting to go do some of the winds right after I get off the pct mid September so it was really awesome to watch your video on that area. Man you were right, that might be the most beautiful piece of trail I’ve ever seen. Cheers
Ahhh!!! You will love the Winds. It definitely reminds me of the Sierra in a lot of ways. Glad you will be getting back on the PCT!! I do miss the Sierra and expect to do some trips there in the fall.

Great video Cat, you captured this special place so well. I actually got teary eyed because your video was so inspiring. I lived in Colorado for 25 years before retiring to Florida. I miss the west so much 🥲
I'm in awe of our beautiful country. Thanks again for sharing so many amazing places that many of us have never been to. I'm so glad you had great company to share this experience. Absolutely breathtaking!🐿🌲🌻🌼
What are the odds of running into people you know in that vast wilderness! You were in good company, that's like icing on the cake. Really loved the sights as always
Great video! I've enjoyed yours, Brian's, and Coach's videos through the years. I actually camped about 50 feet to the left of your spot at Island Lake. I was there on 8/10 thru 8/12 so I just missed you all. I agree about Titcomb nearly bringing one to tears. It was truly stunning. Also, it got below freezing in 8/10 and 8/11 and I think that knocked down the mosquitoes. It was sooooo much nicer sitting and staring at Island Lake without the vampires constantly attacking. If you haven't been to Cirque of the Towers please go. It's as awe inspiring and Titcomb is beautiful. Happy to see you living and amazing life. Enjoy.
Thank you! I actually watched your video, but wasn’t able to comment. I thought you might have been camped in the same exact spot. lol What a great place. My favorite trip this season. You got lucky with the mosquitos. On my next trip in the Sawtooths, mosquitoes weren’t an issue thankfully.
I am so glad you got to meet up with your friend. It was a beautiful journey.
Been to the Winds only once and we did this exact same trail. I remember it like it was yesterday though it was going on 30 years ago now. Incredible!
Hiked this trail in ‘77. Incredible views, altitude headache first day, and the largest mosquitos I’ve ever seen during the early miles.
