Safe trip to Brisbane. Please take care of yourself Josh Cahill.
They just got saved by a firm company called BAIN! Great news.
Josh, I know u use iMovie...do you edit it on pc or phone(iPhone)
???
I have never cried during an Airline review, this had me so emotional as a frequent flyer of Virgin Australia and an Aussie the future of VA is unknown. If any VA Cabin Crew, Pilots or Ground Staff are watching this review please dont give up hope of wearing that red uniform once again ❤.
Spoiler Alert: They survive.
Thank God they made it, Qantas prices would e even worse and we have to live off Rex for a good experience and cheap price
VOZ offers a complementary snack and drink on all domestic flights

Woman next to him: Why is this guy recording himself?
She is from Russia visiting her daughter, she said Russians don't do this kind of stuff :D She was lovely though!
I noticed the same thing.. Evil eye 😈 👀 "wtf are you doing weirdo" lol
@@JoshCahill 3:45 Did you take the wrong seat? I am glad to hear that you had a great chat with the beautiful lady.
I have flown virgin Australia many times. Always with 23kg luggage and free snack and drinks on board. We flew home from Los Angeles to Brisbane 17th March just as USA was locking down on virgin Australia business class. It was a sad flight as the staff knew that most of them would soon be out of work but in saying that they did everything they could to make the flight exceptional. Virgin will be in the air again and I will be flying with them.
I just love it when the passengers near you stare at you. Keep it up!!
Mate, Virgin's new owners will be announced this Monday coming. Cyrus Partners are the favourite & Bain Capital is the other company bidding for VA. The airline will not be collapsing. To be honest VA was structured to not work.
Previously owned by 4 international airlines (this is why the government wouldn't hand money to them)., but they were only interested in having feed onto their international services. Profitability was not a factor.
At least with the new owners they'll have a clean slate & will be able to give QF a run for it's money.
Cyrus is said to be wanting to bring Virgin Australia back to the Virgin America 'vibe/fun' days.
Thank-you for the insider news. I'm from the US, and we rarely get any details about what is going on in the Great Down Under. I do hope Virgin Australia gets pulled from the fire. From my experience, if a company is run unprofitably, it is the leadership's fault. But when it comes to Virgin Australia, I know so very little that my assessment can only be treated as a guess. Thank-you again for your comment. I always enjoy reading substantive information left by subscribers. I am just one of those guys who enjoys learning.
You cannot say for sure the airline will not be collapsing. It is still an option. Bain and Cyrus have both said they will not pursue the sale if the government doesn't offer financial assistance. If the sale falls through, its liquidation time. This is a bullshit argument and I'm fully behind the government not giving money to Virgin. The ownership issue is not the reason the government did not give money to Virgin.
@@Guerry-3
You're well come mate.
Virgin Australia when thinking about it, is very fortunate to of been placed in voluntary administration so quick.
We (Australia) closed our borders in February & this forced them to go into voluntary administration, while over airlines around the world were still flying. So the process started well before the peak of COVID a few months ago, before airlines started halting thier operations.
Voluntary administration is a risky process for any business.
It seems Virgin Australia nearing the end with two strong, committed, wealthy bidders, makes Virgin Australia a voluntary administration success story.
Yes, the airline will be smaller etc... But what airline in the world isn't right now or will be?
With much of their debt restructured well from the administration, they'll be in a better place for years to come, compared to other airlines around the world who will be taking out loans upon old loans.
Tiger Airways, Virgin's low-cost carrier will be ceasing operations & not re-started but it was crap all a long. Low-cost carriers don't work in Australia. We have Jetstar (Qantas's low-cost carrier) & that's enough.
I flew VA from SYD to MEL and I did get snacks which is delicious as well!
Like a few of the below comments, i have flown VA many times (last flight was March 11) on this exact route and they included luggage and a free soft drink and snack as part of the fare.
I’m baffled that I didn’t get anything :/
@@JoshCahill You either lied or wrote down the wrong notes.
@@ThatPerthFan that or it may have been due to the airline struggling never know?
Josh, thanks for the great video!
I have traveled Sydney to Melbourne back to Sydney by Virgin Australia few times and I had snacks plus beer, wine, coffee or tea for free. Haven't flew recently due to Covid-19 border restrictions so unable to comment
I agree, it's strange that there was no snack service in economy...or checked baggage allowance
@@heathertruskinger6214 I think it is very recent situation and changes due to Virgin Australia future, I really hope all will be sort out and they will be back to normal service
Thanks heaps for reviewing my favourite airline! Just a pointer though: after flying them many many times, I am certain there is complimentary checked baggage on all flights of 1 item (I believe 23 kg), increasing depending on frequent flyer status and if seated in business class. Also, a complimentary snack and beverage is served on all Virgin Australia domestic flights. I am unsure of why your flight did not have this. Maybe due to reduced service from coronavirus? Or it could’ve been due to a shortened service window due to turbulence? Anyway, I think you’ll need to fly them again to get the full experience. May I suggest visiting Melbourne? It’s better than Sydney (in my opinion). Despite the fierce rivalry between sydney and Melbourne (I live in Melbourne). Thanks for visiting Australia!
I agree with you even if this is still a year ago. Virgin Australia offers complimentary baggage. 1checked baggage max of 23kg plus carry on baggage max of 7kg😊
Great video Josh, very sad to see them go! Stay Safe
Belated birthday wishes Josh🎂🎉❤️!!!!!! Have a great year ahead 🎉.....
I'll never forget the 1st time flying into Sydney and seeing the Opera House & Harbor Bridge.
What's a Harbor Bridge? I mean I saw the Harbour Bridge, no idea what a Harbor Bridge is though.
Hi Josh - I’m a huge fan of yours but your trip report is wrong. All tickets include baggage and a snack with a drink. You can’t preorder food online as you advised. I think you were talking about Jetstar. I think you should correct these issues by updating the video.
Great video! (As usual 😁). Keep it up
I really hope Virgin Australia pull through these tough times! They offer the only real competition for Qantas throughout OZ. Great Flight Review as always. Keep up the great work!✈️
Virgin staff are usually pretty awesome will be sad if the airline disappeared
Great man keep it up 👊👊👊👊
Waiting for this video since the live in the bali beach😃
I love it. You pronounce “Sydney” like a German still but “Australia” 100% like an Aussie.
To sound more Aussie you have to say it “Sid-knee” 😉
That’s right mate!
Hi Josh. When I have flown Virgin, economy fare usually includes 1 x 23 kg checked luggage, plus 1 x 7 kg carry-on..
And in economy normally there is water, juice, tea or coffee, plus a small bite size snack included in the fare. And then other food or drinks can then get purchased.
Was your flight during covid-19 ?
Maybe that's why they didn't give free stuff.
I , like many Aussies , are waiting for Virgin to return to our skies... hopefully in the next few months
VA are still flying, under voluntary administration. Services are already being ramped up.
Still flying but at a reduced flights
Normally, you get luggage, and a smaller inflight catering for your fare. Interest ing that you only got the flight
I flew on Virgin Australia 737 in september 2019 from Sydney to Melbourne and couldn't fault it one bit. Such a shame about what's happened to the airline as the staff were some of the friendliest i have had the pleasure to meet. Was the first leg of my journey back to the UK.
Nice...the sound on the video is quite low and then suddenly an ad is inserted that's dramatically louder and clearer! Last time I watch one of your videos..
Bye 👋😂
Mate your footage must be at least 18 months old. I flew VA in January from SYD-BNE, BNE-MEL, MEL-SYD, SYD-PER and PER-SYD. All had complimentary snacks and soft drinks (basic alcohol to/from Perth) and more allowance than you're saying here. This review is of an old product, in an old time.
[Enter Channel Here] He flew in February if you read some of the comments.
@@lockylive2520 I highly doubt that based on the facts that he's inaccurate in what he's said and misrepresented Virgin Australia's product.
He can only judge by what happened on the flight and if he says there was no catering then I would believe it.
I love these videos
Then your an Idiot like Josh Cahill.
This review is surprising. VA are normally a full service airline, competing with Qantas. 1 bag, meal and drink included. Not sure why you got the budget airline experience
Yeah, I thought they were too. At least when I last flew them a couple of years back they were.
A checked bag is included on all fares... snacks, water and tea and coffee also included in addition to menu. Not too sure why he says otherwise. 🤷🏻♂️
Unsure on why this was the case, all flights come with water/tea/juice as well as beer and soft drinks during happy hour. Complimentary snacks are also provided on all domestic flights...
I got listeria from a VA chicken wrap once as did 100s of other pax at the time- big thing about it on Oz tv...
Stay safe when you fly Josh Cahill 🌼 🛫 Fan from Brisbane x
Ayyy welcome to Brisbane!
Please you shall do more flight reviews
Josh, Qantas provides a similar level of service. I fly both for business ( rarely in Business class) If getting no complimentary service during the trip was on the only issue - You did not miss much. Try Tiger or Jetstar if you want to get stuffed around.
Me gusta tú vídeo qué grabas.. carnal.saludos y cuidate.
Wanna know what it's like to be an airline employee in this difficult times? Think of the band that continued playing as the Titanic sank
Sounds about right. I've always wished I was a commercial pilot but right now I'm very happy that I'm not.
@@97I30T I am 17 and that's my dream job, I am not part of the sinking ship but I had a ticket for it, now I don't know if I should still go for it
If you had come off the LATAM flight from Auckland and then went on this flight to Brisbane it seems to me you admitted that you were tired and had little sleep. It doesn't seem like you are very interested in giving this review and therefore it comes across in your presentation. It could have been a bad turbulence flight in which case they may not serve complimentary items due to limited service. I enjoy your reviews Josh but this one is a bit of a let down. Maybe more positive reviews to come.
I loved VA - it was a lovely flight but I guess it needs more flights to give a better and bigger picture :) Thanks for your feedback!
There is talk that if Cyrus is a successful bidder they may take it down the road of Virgin America. I flew them LAX to SEA back in 2012 and was quite impressed with the service and think it might be a good product to service both sides of the market here in Australia. Let's hope you can come back and review if that happens.
@@mikedaws73: I agree that Josh was somewhat less than exuberant. But, I still enjoyed his review, and I think he gave a relatively good review, given the short duration of his flight. Nevertheless, I appreciate your candidness, and as we say here in American, "I call them as I see them."
Hi Josh, it will be great if you can also mention the date of your travel in the description. This one seems before the COVID19 situation. The flight date will also give us an idea as how normalised flying is becoming. This includes observing the crowd at the terminals, extra precautions included etc.
I’m still waiting to go back to work. Pray for our airline.
The woman who sat next to you recognized you I suppose! LOL
So true, without complementary food service, flights are so dull :)
Thanks !
Thanks for sharing, Sadly many airlines will go bankrupt in the coming months :(
VA hasn't gone bankrupt but ok
I think you need to update you info about VA financial problem
As always, your videos are well-informed, nourishing, engaging and exciting with that unique and refreshing wit of yours. Unfortunately you had this uninspired experience with VA which is very unlike and against the VA standard, unsure what exactly happened that day, but I know for a fact that on that SYD-BNE flight, you should (by service delivery procedure) have been served complimentary tea, coffee, juice and water from the cart top; in addition to one small complimentary snack (such as a bag of Trail Mix or a grain bar) served with a VA logo napkin. The onboard sales from the menu are on request and no items can be pre-purchased or ordered, only the stock on board is available without pre-assigned orders. Pity you didn't get a quick chance to take a look at the inflight entertainment app, which has great features including a detailed moving map. Next time let the check-in counter and the cabin crew know you're on board and what you do, they would be so very happy to have you and sprinkle you with some Virgin spirit. Love your content!
I can say watching this retrospectively (in 2022) and having just flown VA business from Melbourne to the Gold Coast. The service is nearly identical post voluntary administration. We got a great deal which allowed us to fly business. I can say the meal was fantastic but the hard product is starting to date. I'll be glad to see Virgin Australia replace their fleet of 737-800 in the coming years. Same for Qantas.
Virgin Australia offer a complimentary drink and snack onboard and checked baggage included. This video was filmed two months before the airline went into administration and the review is inaccurate.
What is inaccurate? There was no service on my flight for whatever reason.
Josh, I’m usually a huge fan of your reviews but this one doesn’t really show just how good VA usually are. One inaccuracy in your review is that baggage must be purchased. 1 x 23kg bag is included in all domestic fares, as standard. Was there any announcement about the lack of service onboard, perhaps due to the bumpy flight? I would be gobsmacked if it went totally un-announced.
Wow nice vlog
Incredible intro! Great review! Sad to see Virgin Australia bankrupt!
They’re not bankrupt.
Voluntary administration, not bankrupt.
@@dundoniandean ah I see sorry!
Virgin Australia restructured successfully and is well used in 2022. I personally find Virgin offers the best service on domestic flights in Australia. Far better than over priced Qantas. Very friendly staff and generally more on time than Qantas.
Im really confused because VA ticket normally includes lugage and snacks Jetstar and tiger normally snacks and luggage is extra so im very confused as ive flown virgin well and truly over thirty times between townsville Brisbane Newcastle Sydney Melbourne and have never had to purchase any of those
No food = No turbulance.
I’m shocked they didn’t provide free meals, most likely since your flight was really short, a flight I took to Perth provided a hot meal for free. Sad they are struggling. Nice Video
I fried Virgin Australia during January 2020, I love Virgin Australia. I really miss the experience///
Are you sure you're on Virgin airline?
Magnificent views! I hope they survive. Without them, prices will skyrocket.
Well i guess now you can still fly them! Im flying with them in 2 weeks
When was this flight
Pretty sad news considering Australia doesn't really have that many airlines! Hopefully they will be able to make it out of this issue!
In Australia you can buy the airline meals from the catering company direct for $2 each because nobody's traveling.
Matt t but who wants to eat plane food if don’t have to
Hey Josh, when was this flight?
In February.
That crocodile hoodie is one of my favourite things from your wardrobe that I've seen so far! Oh, and nice review.
your the best I am your best fan.
Hello from Canberra Australia (Even though I'm French) !
Even though I'm French 🤣🤣🤣
eh bien, vous ne pouvez pas choisir votre pays de naissance
Josh thank you for the update about VA. Very sad to hear of the struggle of the airline, hope nobody gets stuck on a flight in the middle of the bankruptcy. I did a flight from Atlanta Georgia to London and didn't realize they didn't have a way back as they filed bankruptcy while I was visiting home. As always looking forward to the next vlog
Somebody got a little confused I didn't say virgin Atlantic this was quite a while ago when this bankruptcy happened from US to the UK it was called people's Express sorry I did not mention the airlines and sorry that you thought I gave the intentions shortly that it was VA. Thank you for your opinion
Virgin Atlantic fly from US to UK, not Virgin Australia. They are two different airlines flying under the Virgin brand. Virgin Australia is currently in voluntary administration, seeking new owners. The process is well under way and hopefully the good news about the new owners will be known very soon.
@@dundoniandean: Thank-you for the news, sir! As an American, we get very little news about Australia, so it is refreshing to read comments like yours.
Welcome back Josh...Tiger Air is owned by Virgin and I would rather go to jail than fly with them. I am a huge fan of Virgin Australia as I love the crew and I am a Platinum Member...I just hope they survive these current times !! 34 R is the best runway for a take off as you have shown....great views of Sydney and the landmarks which it is so famous for !! Thanks again Josh...great to see you still posting the odd video !!
Tiger shits all over Crapstar. Never had an issue with Tiger, the flight left when it said it would, I got the seat I chose and paid for and it arrived when it said it would. Meanwhile at Jetstar they are looking for a spare plane to operate my flight that should have left two hours ago.
They didn’t give you a free cup of tea or coffee at all? I always thought you got that free on VA.
I like your video..josh cahill..
0:41 A small render glitch
I see ... thats weird :D
Review Kenya Airways someday Cahill
He already has!
I take virgin Australia cause I live in BRISBANE and have always been served com snacks
I visit aviation videos for take offs and meals offered on flights....😘😘😘
Love Virgin, great airline. Back to Bali very soon with them.
I don't know but I'm quite sure that he's British because even RUclips captions don't understand what he's saying 😂
Abdul Sami he is german
Nothing to say? It was on time!! I have only had one domestic Australian flight be on time since 2016. This includes Virgin Australia, QANTAS, Jetstar and Tiger. Disclosure: I am a Virgin Australia Velocity Platinum member.
A good content would be trying Air Malta
Is V Australia still flying??
I'm guessing this was taken before Covid
Sorry to tell you Virgin Australia still going and much better now
Virgin has always came with free baggage? my dad booked pre covid was offered free baggage. Got a refund due to being cancelled from COVID. I have always got free food and baggage too from Virgin when I have flown them for vounteer work and holidays
Hi
Swapped seats did we Josh ? .
hahaha... no genius me went for the wrong seat :D
Josh Cahill . Good fortune anyway . That’s the best side of the plane when departing off 34R . I’ve departed off the runway many times , and yes it is a beautiful city . All my best wishes in this crazy time we are in now .
So sad the world airlines are so affected with the current situation
I always fly Virgin (bit more cheaper than Qantas, and would rather fly VA over budget airlines), and I've always been given a snack and drink. There is stuff you do need to pay for though. I've ridden Business Class twice? but because I was with a friend who is a platinum member.
I haven't flown with Virgin Australia in a few years and I'm quite shocked that they're still flying 737s with the old pre-sky interior. Like come on guys it's been like a decade.
Say that to many airlines all virgin fleets are relatively new and these jets aren’t ur iPhone renewal U don’t get a new one as part of ur plan
hopefully they stay afloat otherwise pilot jobs and careers in aviation is going to be hard.
I miss planes.
Pls can you fly Alitalia 777 we have a beutiful route italian route
What, no loo report? :-D
Was that your last flight
Archisman Mukherjee Last flight on Virgin Australia as they went into voluntary administration recently
you are the best aviation vlogger on youtube
God bless you and your family. I am Adeel Riaz from Karachi
But why it's you're last video?
Hey u doing a wonderful job keep it up God bless you
Virgin Aust A330 on domestic routes is a much better product than the 737. Only time will tell if they will retain their fleet of A330 after the airline is sold.
Virgin Australia is out of voluntary administration. Thankfully for Australia and aviation in general.
Welcome to Australia 🇦🇺 mate! Where nothing interesting ever happens not even on the airlines were too basic & simple 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Josh please fly virgin Atlantic in my opinion it’s a very good standard kill admit the food is amazing but it has a very good hard product please review them 🙏🙏
VA will be around for a while yet :)
Got caught with a number of cancelled flights - with Virgin ended up with two different types of credit note depending on when they cancelled and their administration status. Not hopeful. Probably will not fly with them again if new owners do not honour both credit notes. Scoot were excellent. Full refund quicker than they said. Lufthansa and Qantas refunded points bookings without without penalty. Have a business class flight with Omanair booked through Expedia. Expedia told me they are trying for a refund but I might have to settle for a credit note - which is of little use given the Omanair route network and my future travel. Even bought cancellation insurance with Expedia and AIG. AIG have told me I booked before CV 19 warnings so I should qualify. But after claiming, told it would take a long time to process. Suspect they will try something on about credit notes.
