That said, England back then was largely a secular country and religion played a very small role in the lives of most people, so there was no controversy at all attached to this song.
It does sound similar to Motley Crue's 'Dr. Feelgood', though listen to Killing Joke's 'Love Like Blood' which is the song most people compare to 'Dr Feelgood'. It's possible Killing Joke heard this Thin Lizzy song & copied it as 'Love Like Blood' came out in 1985, 'Holy War' is from 1983.
