I like to imagine that while artanis gave that speech to his warriors alarak was telling the taldarim how inferior they are to himself “Warriors!! Today you will die for my benefit!”
>Base Defense Mission >Lowko:"Will static defense even help?" >Retries three time >Lowko:"I have no anti-air" >Still no photon cannons or Khaydarin Monoliths >Lowko:"Maybe I need some dragoons"
The whole point of the mission is to know (the hard way) that the protoss factions need each other. That's why is more efficient to mix Aiur warriors, Nerazim, Taldarins and Purifiers, to exploit the best of all them. That's the idea of protoss unity.
yeah with the all-aiur set up carriers are your only real anti-air. Dark archons would have crushed this mission tho. They're pretty gas heavy at the start, but once you get rolling, its pretty darn good
I was running mass Dar Archons, you not only can mind control the big unites, they also work as a downgraded version of normal Archons, and you don’t have to merge them so the production is smoother and you can warp them without picking warp harmonization. My strategy was warp in some energizers and put them on the Alarak and Vorazun side, and some at the Karax side if his energizers got destroyed (which they will), and start production on the Dark Archons, the energizers alone with the starter pack team (2 warriors, 2 rangeds, 2 robotics) can help each sides for their defense against the first wave. And static defense is very important, since running on Dark Archons will leave you a lots of unused minerals, you can build some shield batteries and spare some for cannons and monoliths. Them the fun part is you can get as much Carriers and Tempests, sometimes Guardians if you have too much energy to spend, and they don’t cost supplies at all (don’t know if it’s a bug and could be fix, but at least in my play through it didn’t). And I’m talking about Brutal difficulty, of course.
@@hiway19891 That was awesome. At normal difficulty, I only maxed void rays, and divide them into 3 groups. Fully upgraded them. That's all. That's how easy the normal difficulty is.
This reminds me of when you did the 10th mission of the original Starcraft campaign and you wouldn't give up on the idea of sniping the Ion Cannon with Wraiths. Hey, we all get stubborn once in a while when playing Starcraft.
Fun fact about this mission: you can place buildings inside Karax' energy field (still requires a pylon) and they will receive the speed boost. Makes this mission somewhat easy as you can just build a single stargate and max out on Void Rays or Carriers within the first minutes.
Fun Fact: The speech Artanis gives during the cutscene before the final battle is the same one he delivered in WoL during that vision of the apocalyptic future. You know, the speech he gave right before he died.
Well, slight variations :) In utter darkness: My brethren, hear me! For there is little time left. All that remains of our race, our civilization, are those that stand beside you now. In our pride and division, we failed that sacred change and fell to ruin. The Khala, designed to bring unity, ultimately only aided those diversion. Its hope was a lie. Today, that lie must come to its end, and with it, our prejudice and arrogance must become a thing of the past. For we now fight in the belief that our kind has not seen its end. That we protoss can stand bound by a belief in unity. And that we protoss will forge a great and mighty new civilization! *Trust in each other* in the fight ahead. *Strike as one will! That would imply that, if Kerrigan died and if the timelines correspond with eachother, Amon would be conquering all the Terran worlds and protoss worlds in the same time that it took Artanis to gather his forces and re-launch the attack on Aiur. Wich means that the vision of the overmind was about a very near future after Jim Raynor attacked Char. He would have been able to conquer everything a lot quicker if he had the entire Swarm at his service
Tips: Trap Karax inside circle of army training structures and benefit from his aura all the time. Nexus overcharge rocks: build 3 nexuses at each entrance, monoliths behind them with shield batteries and profit.
Anesterianful because he is Artanis student of Tassadar and Zeratul, Destroyer of Shakuras, Submittor of Taldarim, Breaker of Purefier chains, hierarch of the Dealamn. Oh, and of course, father of carriers.
The words are the same as in Wings of Liberty, but the sentiment is completely different, which is really cool. Of course, everyone probably knew Artanis was going to say "free" at the end there, which was just groan worthy.

A couple of things that I want to mention about that last cinematic: 1. Artanis begging Selendis, and by extension all of the freed Protoss, to 'Believe.' is really powerful, at least to me. The Protoss on Aiur, as Rohana implies, have every reason to free themselves from the Khala on the basis they have directly experienced the torture of Amon's possession - and yet they know nothing else and there is no time to explain the new vision that Artanis and his companions have created aboard the Spear of Adun. All that they can rely upon is belief that they can survive beyond the Khala's end. Even beyond that, however, it is Artanis himself who declares that the Protoss must now forge a society 'bound by a belief in unity', not by the imposed, psionic unity of the Khala. The plea to 'Believe.' is thus not just a call to trust him but a call to both throw themselves into the void beyond everything that they know and to fulfil the new ideal of what it means to be Protoss. 2. There are obviously more Templar in the Golden Armada beyond those that the cutscene shows us. From that, one may question how Artanis' plea resulted in all of them severing their nerve cords. This reveals a huge irony. Amon, at that moment, was imprisoned within the Keystone - and so the Khala was functional again and the Khalai connected by it thus able to communicate through it. This undoubtedly was what allowed Artanis' message to be so far-reaching; furthermore, the surge of determination that would have run through it would have given even those with the greatest fears and doubts the surety to follow through. The last success of the Khala was to secure its own destruction.
Ironically, the Khala isn't truly gone. While all present protoss may not be connected to it, unless they continue to sever the nerve cords of all newly born protoss, they could have the khala again, and there's no reason not to, given how Amon isn't around any more.
I'm assuming they severed the nerve cords of most of the templars outside of the ruined temple and those in the final cinematic are the last, the most elite of fighters still remaining, because there's no way that that is all of them
Do you know the story of how the colossus is invented? There was a protoss phase-smith, who was a pyromaniac, but he wasn't pleased with how easy it is to protect oneself against a ground level flamethrower. Sooo, he put a flamethrower, or rather two of them, on giant stilts, and voila, the colossus was born!
Doesnt matter, in the end, something is set on fire. And plasma is superheated matter at around 6000-7000 degrees celsius i believe, and lasers are focused light, which is also pretty hot. Pyromaniac templar people, i tell ya
Dude, thanks for this series. Thoroughly enjoyed them, thanks for the time you took to make them. You made me fall in love with this game and the universe. Thanks for the work you do, keep it up. Shout out all the way from South Africa.

When i first completed this mission i used mass carrier, energizer and matrix overload, + 3 arbitrators for each entrance teleporting my units to an entrance when needed. Although it took me at least twice as long a Lowko to succeed in this mission.
Hello Lowko! My recommendations for next campaigns: RTS - Dawn of War series (minus DoW3 and maybe Soulstorm expansion to DoW1); Command and Conquer 3 with expansion; City builders - Tropico 4 and 5 with expansions Out of love I'd say to try one of grand strategy games by Paradox - Europa Universalis 4, Stellaris, Crusader Kings 2. Maybe Witcher series, if you're able to withstand combat system in Witcher 1 (most people find it boring, unintuitive and overall bad). FPS - DOOM (2016) if you haven't played it yet, really great game. I would also recommend Borderlands series, but there're some issues with it. While all 3 games can be played solo, they're way more fun in coop. And 2nd issue is, that there's no level scaling and no difficulty setting. And you start to outlevel locations quite fast, if you do all quests. Challenging game starts only at 3rd walkthrough (system similar to Diablo 1 and 2).
>LegacyOfTheVoid: Defensive Mission (Protoss version of Wings Of Liberty) LowKo: "let's build a deathball and scramble around the map, that's defense right?" LowKo SC2 Playthrough: Proof that you can brute force your way through any mission on brutal
lol the probe at 53:00 building all that static-D while being swarmed by zerglings. Probes like "Hey I got a job to do, no time for this" and actually survives the wave XD
This was a very fun mission... I remember that protecting the allies heroes is hard but worth it (if they die... they're gone!) but you get to benefit from their powers. For example... I built all my production facilities in the purifiers base... because each time Karax would walk past them they would get 900% production speed increase (Karax's ability from previous mission).
The best unit composition: 1.- Purifiers: Tempest. (Ultradamage against heavy units) 2.- Tal'darim: Destroyer. (Bouncing hit-everything heavy damage) 3.- Nerazim: Corsair. (Quick splash antiair strikes + Web disruption that disables all ground units) Always works as a charm here.
A big tip for this mission is to know that Karax has his special ability. "User projects a power field that can be used to power protoss structures. Structures in power field gain +100% attack speed and +900% production speed." So just build your stargates around him and mass produce units in no time! :)
You can also mix in gateways in your static defense, as damage buffers. Low mineral high hp buildings. (The same applies to the Terran epilogue mission, except with barracks).
Thanks Lowko, I watched your first play through as well back when you first uploaded it and I enjoyed it just as much then. Great content from a great RUclips personality, stay gold! Also I know I speak for all Americans when I say lets give Artanis an American birth certificate and elect him. En taro Artanis 2020.
You can build a gateway, stargate or a robotics facility near Karax so you can use his passive ability to speed up unit production. Just spam Corsairs and Nerazim DT's and run around the map. You can just use Carriers to go with tradition.
For future reference with time stop, its free and only on a cooldown, and gives you 20 free seconds where the enemy is doing nothing to you at all, no matter if you use it to counter attack, build up, research, anything, as long as you are producing or researching, our building, its most useful if you are popping it pretty much every time it comes off cool down.
3:30 Did Artanis just confest to Fenix/Talander? Ship. Kappa But seriously this was so amazing. I heccing love the story of SC and I get goosebumps and tears trough like every other voice line in those cutscenes and I looove watching you play all those missions. I'm excited about the epilogue as well! And "recommendations for games that I should try out after the epilogue" ... Nova Covert Ops lowLULxD
Anyone notice that the opening address from Artanis before the mission, has the nearly same ending speech from Artanis mothership, in the last protoss vision in wing's of liberty ? (Overmind's vision about the end of the protoss)
MOST EPIC CAMPAIGN............. :) Artanis FTW............ "Let our last stand burn a memory so bright that we are known throughout Eternity"... Goosebumps indeed, especially with the fact that Artanis gave this Speech in WoL before he and his final stand in Aiur was over-run by Amon !!! "Together we will shape our Destiny amongst the Stars".......... teardrops in my eyes.......
Dude what am i going to do once you complete this play through? I've been watching this for so long it's become a thing I've looked forward to every few days.
This mission was EZ PZ with carrier, arbiter, and corsair comp flying around the map to stamp out enemy aggro. Pylons all over the map with matrix overcharge so you can get to the fights much faster, as well as leaving an arbiter at each entrance for recalls.
saw one replay where a guy started out making the Taldarim immortals (don't remember what their name is) to stave off the first waves, then transitioned over to void rays. using timestop and the temporal field-abilities mostly, and warp harmonics. looked like a frickin cakewalk.
Note from the future: If you box alarak in with shield batteries, he becomes unstoppable static defense. You can also build a stargate within Karax's aura, and insta make carriers and max out almost immediatley
Actually matrix overload is good for this mission even without energizers, because you can just put pylons all around your base and your army basically has a constant speed boost, helps them both fight and run around different entrances to defend. I grabbed carriers for repairs, either destroyers or void rays will benefit greatly from the speed boost. If I use destroyers I also pick havocs to boost their range, if I pick void rays I would probably use energizers to speed them up further since they dont need the havoc range boost with their charging anyway.
Alarak wasn't much help because he was the only one to have his base in this chokepoint while you blocked his army's path with shield batteries and stuff, so they couldn't fight. Looking forward to the Epiloge, thanks for you content! :)
First time I played it I tried to use Dark Archons to take control of the enemy ships, especially the mothership, it worked for a while then they become harder and harder to keep, I reset the game with mass carrier/void rays did it nicely.
Mass recall could have been awesome. Scatter some nexi or something to teleport your army from side to side. And attack speed pylons + shield batteries for nice engages.
Part of the Artanis speech is the same that he tells o the last of the Zeratul missions o the Wings of Liberty campaing. Also, for the ones looking to play this mission on the future, try the arbitrers, the stasis ability is super broken to hold the chokepoints
Colossi/Reavers, Vanguards, Void Rays and Carriers combined will make most of the attack waves obsolete. Void Rays can make work of those priority targets: Warp Prisms, Motherships, Tempests. Carriers will repair damaged units, and all of these units are mechanical. Vanguards and Colossi/Reavers will deal with ground units especially Zerg. There are many ways to complete this mission. Using Arbiters to recall your units to an attacked position, but you will have to improvise your units.
Artanis does a big old speech about working together as one and then lowko immediately goes and excludes all but the aiur protoss! D:< bad lowko! also should have got arbiters out fast cloak allys, stasis portions of the big pushes to let your carriers and such burn down small groups. Throw in matrix overload (cos your on defense so no reason not to fight by pylons)
The whole story plays towards uniting the different protoss factions and you play aiur only, and after that big speech too :P looking forward to the epilogue, i think they will be quite challenging on brutal! :)
Lowko: "im gonna have a hard time dealing with air units, im not sure my best course of action is going to be,look my *pheonix isnt really gonna cut it*" Me: Yeah well, thats disapointing your "*pheonix*" isnt going to cut it at all, right?, then why u chose it at a bad situation if you could choose carriers/destroyers/void rays which can attack both GROUND AND AIR? :( "Begins carrier spam and shield battery later after another multiple restarts" Me:( XD) THATS THE AIUR WAY MY BOY!! The first born should be proud of you
"Mom, bring the vaseline" - Lowko 2018"

Lowko: "I have no anti-air"

The whole point of the mission is to know (the hard way) that the protoss factions need each other. That's why is more efficient to mix Aiur warriors, Nerazim, Taldarins and Purifiers, to exploit the best of all them.
That's the idea of protoss unity.

It even help Karak still has his production boosting Aura so building stargates and Robotics facilities near him is broken.

I have played the entire campaign, and still i've watched this entire playthrough of LotV. I've enjoyed a lot! Thank you!
>LegacyOfTheVoid: Defensive Mission (Protoss version of Wings Of Liberty)
LowKo: "let's build a deathball and scramble around the map, that's defense right?"
LowKo SC2 Playthrough: Proof that you can brute force your way through any mission on brutal
Lowko the buff up to the attack speed and the production speed gave to structures by Karax is extreamly important
lol the probe at 53:00 building all that static-D while being swarmed by zerglings. Probes like "Hey I got a job to do, no time for this" and actually survives the wave XD
- Golden fleet attacks (Air units)
- Lowko: "Let's call Talandar" (melee) and keeps warping ground units
I have been looking forward to this for a long time!! I haven't even finished watching, but I look forward to seeing what you play next Lowko!!
I think that the protoss have the best campaing and history of all 3. Awesome videos Lowko.
(sorry my english)
This was a very fun mission... I remember that protecting the allies heroes is hard but worth it (if they die... they're gone!) but you get to benefit from their powers. For example... I built all my production facilities in the purifiers base... because each time Karax would walk past them they would get 900% production speed increase (Karax's ability from previous mission).
The best unit composition:
1.- Purifiers: Tempest. (Ultradamage against heavy units)
2.- Tal'darim: Destroyer. (Bouncing hit-everything heavy damage)
3.- Nerazim: Corsair. (Quick splash antiair strikes + Web disruption that disables all ground units)
Always works as a charm here.
10:02 thats the same thing he says on the protoss last stand against Amon in Zeratuls vision. Goosebumps increase!!
I love how the great alarak is always the first who dies when i play the mission ...
A big tip for this mission is to know that Karax has his special ability.
"User projects a power field that can be used to power protoss structures. Structures in power field gain +100% attack speed and +900% production speed."
So just build your stargates around him and mass produce units in no time! :)
Well that was some of the best play I have ever seen of Protoss and the best campaign, well done mate.
Thank you for all those amazing videos, Lowko! You're one of my favorites RUclipsrs! Easy in the top3! I can't wait each one of your videos everydays!
So where do you have goosebumps lowko?
On your leg?
Where you thought you couldn’t get Goosebumps?
Lowko by far the best Starcraft content creator. Thank you for the videos :)
Lowko gets maxxed in carriers, even amon is like "a click newb!"
You can also mix in gateways in your static defense, as damage buffers. Low mineral high hp buildings. (The same applies to the Terran epilogue mission, except with barracks).
9:53 His speech here is almost identical to the one he gives when he appears in the fourth prottos mission in wings of liberty.
I just love the fact Artanis gave almost the same speech he did in that WoL mission, when Zeratul and his many heroes were around
Artanis: We stand as one!
Meanwhile Lowko: All Aiur units!
a 4 player coop mission of this would be fun

Thanks Lowko, I watched your first play through as well back when you first uploaded it and I enjoyed it just as much then. Great content from a great RUclips personality, stay gold!
Also I know I speak for all Americans when I say lets give Artanis an American birth certificate and elect him. En taro Artanis 2020.
phanCAbe
Can you find a link to that?
I've been searching to compare it, but stupid RUclips app on my phone can't find it....
You can build a gateway, stargate or a robotics facility near Karax so you can use his passive ability to speed up unit production. Just spam Corsairs and Nerazim DT's and run around the map. You can just use Carriers to go with tradition.
Alarak, most op of the protoss heroes, dies at the first wave
Lowko you’re so funny in this videos, love you’re sense of Humor,I’ve been a fan of StarCraft since brood war keep up the good work…for aiur!
Was anyone else screeching out "matrix overload" at 33:33 or is it just me?
For future reference with time stop, its free and only on a cooldown, and gives you 20 free seconds where the enemy is doing nothing to you at all, no matter if you use it to counter attack, build up, research, anything, as long as you are producing or researching, our building, its most useful if you are popping it pretty much every time it comes off cool down.
57:25 The epic haircutting scene, I love it
Lots of annihilators = Anti Air ^^ Very good vs any bigger targets as you know ;)
Love your playthroughs, cheers!
3:30 Did Artanis just confest to Fenix/Talander? Ship. Kappa
But seriously this was so amazing.
I loved this series! your commentary is just amazing. i was laughing so ahrd. thank you for the joy you bring.
This was by far one of THE BEST campaigns I ever played in ANY RTS to date. an absolute masterpiece!
56:25 "that's does even looks like " you said again lowko :D, same with the past video
I like how they use a variation of Artanis's original speech during the apocalypse (In Utter Darkness).
Mass recall could have been awesome. Scatter some nexi or something to teleport your army from side to side. And attack speed pylons + shield batteries for nice engages.
Did you notice a Purifier Mothership during Artanis' speech?
Alarak: why did you let your favourite char die, Lowko! 😠
Part of the Artanis speech is the same that he tells o the last of the Zeratul missions o the Wings of Liberty campaing. Also, for the ones looking to play this mission on the future, try the arbitrers, the stasis ability is super broken to hold the chokepoints
TIL Alarak is voiced by Jonathan "John" de Lancie, AKA Q from Star Trek NG. Revel in this knowledge!
MsGreenGables1 So that's two of my favourite characters in one. Nice. :)
He's also Discord from MLP, so yeah, the more you know
49:00 Grandma Rohana didn't get the message of Fenix name change. :D
59:20 just hear me out..
What if this is a teaser for how they want Starcraft 3 to look like. POG
Remember Karax's OP 1000% training boost for structures? I built a stargate near him, and boosted out carriers.
47:37 never seen go monty python on gandolf before, very nice.
Xenotric he was playing racist grandma style.
Yeah, matrix overload would've been godly here. Especially helps relocating your army to the next attack wave.
That speech gave me chills down my back
This moment when you scream at the exact same time as Artanis "Kerrigan!"
I like how Alarak dies during the first zerg push against his base, as he would say, "Oh dear... I expected so much more."
The whole story plays towards uniting the different protoss factions and you play aiur only, and after that big speech too :P
looking forward to the epilogue, i think they will be quite challenging on brutal! :)
On this level I used mind control to get more than one mother ship it was amazing
Lowko:
"im gonna have a hard time dealing with air units, im not sure my best course of action is going to be,look my *pheonix isnt really gonna cut it*"
Me:
Yeah well, thats disapointing your "*pheonix*" isnt going to cut it at all, right?, then why u chose it at a bad situation if you could choose carriers/destroyers/void rays which can attack both GROUND AND AIR? :(
"Begins carrier spam and shield battery later after another multiple restarts"
Me:( XD) THATS THE AIUR WAY MY BOY!! The first born should be proud of you
