Yes, SCHWARZ is fantastic! Lindemann is underestimated as a poet - especially among the elite music audience (in Germany). They close their ears and overlook the most brilliant video productions because they have prejudices and don't trust Rammstein.

We all know how talented all of the guys from Rammstein are, but Flake really shines on the Zeit album. As someone who has suffered for years with chronic insomnia, I've grown to live the night and the relative peace it brings me from " normal " life. It's incredible though, the amount and variety of activity I see just quietly sitting unobserved on my little balcony. Everything from romantic liaisons to police chases, drug dealing to prostitution, friendship and fighting. I love this track for so many reasons, and Till's observations on night time activities are spot on. Excellent.

Thank you! One of my favorite songs from Rammstein! German poetry at its finest, Goethe, Heine, Rilke would be proud of Lindemann! But I have to say, you got the meaning wrong. It's definitely not a sad song, it's the opposite. It's an ode to the mystery of the night, and to all creatures who are addicted to it!
Für mich singt er sehr poetisch über eine klinische Depression ( leere). Die tatsächlich den Betroffenen längst nicht so belastet,wie die Angehörigen. Klinische Depression bedeutet das „Schwarz“ sogar trinken zu wollen. Es gibt aber die störenderen Angehörigen. Zwei Welten. Oft kommt’s allerdings zum Gehen ins heimelige Schwarz. Aus eigener Hand.

Aber nur weil man eine ausgeprägte Affinität für die Atmosphäre der Nacht besitzt, bedeutet es nicht zwingend, unter einer klinischen Depression zu leiden. Es gibt überraschend viele Menschen die das "Schwarz der Nacht" in vollen Zügen genießen können, und es hat keineswegs unbedingt etwas pathologisches, sich von der Dunkelheit angezogen zu fühlen
Ich sehe das wie Roman. Für mich ist es einfach eine Hymne für die Nacht und die Wunder, die sie bereit hält. Als Schichtarbeiter und Nachteule kann ich wahrscheinlich aber auch nicht anders.

Good for you! Remember, English is a tricycle...easy to start as there are no genders, few rules, a free-for-all in pronunciation. German is a gorgeous and complex machine - daunting to embark on. But once you're underway, all those rules kick in and make sense, and you can soar!

Americans should actually be able to pronounce schwarz. Your commander in the first Iraq war was called Genaral Norman Schwarzkopf. He had German ancestors. In English it is called Blackhead.
