In 1989 when the Wall came down ending the division between East and West Germany, many people were coming from west to east just to visit but on our (eastern) side there were not enough hotels so people were asked to put a candle in their windowsill if they were willing to have a guest for the night and the WestGermans could just drive through a city till they saw a candle in the window, ring the bell and get a bed for the night. Complete strangers met this way. I haven´t heared about any murders then. And in 2006 the motto for the Football World Cup in Germany was "the world as a guest of friends" - a tv team wanted to test this by sending a young man of colour with a big backpack to ring bells at rich looking mansions in Berlin asking to be their guest and if I remember correctly in every house they send him to he was welcome to have the guest room. So please tell Your wife she would probably be safe here and welcome.

Another excellent video. The story about the fine always makes me laugh. Classic case of lost in translation. Paul laughing at the end makes me smile too. It's clear how popular Rammstein are and I'm proud to count myself as one of their long time fans. We may be a bit crazy but we're a kind, generous and caring bunch as a rule. My son has visited Germany amongst other European countries and Germany is the one place he'd definitely go back to. If you can find the time definitely go and you'll have a brilliant time.

Ironically, my heritage is half German.....🤔 I'll have plenty of time in June, but sadly, teacher pay doesn't have much room for extra people😔. But if I ever do, I'll be on your doorstep ala Schwarzenegger "Come with me if you want to rock!"

Just a thing that came to my mind when you said "It's clear, a lot of people love Rammstein". There is a saying in german thats called the fly theorem. " "Eat more shit, billions of flys love shit" 😂

I'm a musical omnivore and love Rammstein and it seems like we have somehow similar music taste. Maybe you might want to try something else.
America seems pretty self centered concerning music but there are so many international bands deserving more attention. I just list something you might find interesting:
Nightwhish "Ghost love score" (Finnish Dutch Band) live in Wacken open air (Germany).
Scardust (Israelian) cover of the previous in a small club in Tel Aviv with Hellscore quire.
Blackbriar (Dutch) with a siren like Singer "The Seance", "Arms of the ocean", "I'd rather burn"
Ginger (Ukrainian) with their fabulous life session of "Pisces".

Problem with Americans is they are stingy with vacation time. European countries have amazing benefits, like 3-4 weeks vacation when you start a job. Canada is more in line with Europe. I get sis weeks.....I'd be so tickled to be able to see them live in Europe. I'm hoping for a longer North American tour next year
