He's done it again! As per usual, congrats and good work on completing not one, but two sets - well, it's technically the same set twice but whatever. Honestly, I don't think that I'd mind if they made the set sizes a bit smaller. It's nice having them feel easier to manage and complete. Plus, getting to see both languages in the same binder is neat - hopefully you get the chance to do that more often. I think I said it on the Night Wanderer video, but man. I really like the vibe of the set, feels like the dark types got some love here in the art department, really matches the name of the set itself.
I didn’t mind the smaller set either. Comparing to Japanese, I do feel like the reverse holo adds a lot to our sets and I like em. Kinda beefs them up a bit.
I really appreciate these videos, especially breaking down the cost at the end. So far I've only opened 5 packs from the Greninja EX box, but it gave me 4 hits including both the Houndoom and Munkidori IRs. From the videos I've watched it seems like there's a lot of batching in this set.
Yeah, I can’t tell if the batching is particularly bad or there just isn’t a large variety to pull. A buddy of mine got two ETBs and got two Persians so if you’re gonna get batching at least sometimes it works out!
@@Pokelou502 Yeah that's a good point. I guess what I mean is that it seems like the hits are more batched together in this set, like you get a lot of hits or no hits. It probably isn't much different than any other sets these days. For example with 151 I opened 1 ETB that had 2 Blastoise SIRs and I opened 1 UPC that had 2 Giovanni's Charisma SIRs.

This helped me figure out what I needed to complete my first master set! Except I did notice you are missing the Pecharunt 149 promo from the 3-pack blister.
I put extra promos if I get them in the back of the master set binder-but I keep all black star promos in their own black star promo binder! I have a recent video on that binder, check it out!
Would you ever use a 9 pocket vault x binder? I really want to complete this set but it’s just going to have so much space in a 12 pocket one, but I can’t decide if switching binder sizes would be worse lol.
I use them for trade binders and in my most recent video for the trick or trade sets. I also have silver tempest in a 9 pocket. I just combine the normal and reverse holo in that case and looks totally fine! If it was a 9 pocket I wouldn’t really set the normal and reverse side by side because then every row would have a card “off pattern” and that would drive my OCD crazy haha

for japanese do you just keep buying packs/booster boxes until its complete? not sure how easy it is to buy singles to finish a set, especially common cards
So, I'm also trying to master this set. But I only want each card to have it's special version with the neat halo symbols on them. Can that count as a master set or do you have to have all of the cards like you have here for it to be considered a "Master Set"??? I haven't mastered a set since the OG Base Set.
A “master set” is a little step beyond that. So the OG sets didn’t have reverse holos etc. You just got one of each card. When they added reverse holos there was a need for something beyond a complete set-so a master set is one of anything that can be pulled from packs. Regular versions, reverse holos, secret rares, etc. So you can do a complete set the way you’re talking, which is just one example of each card regardless of type. But a master set is all of them! Both are cool! A shiny binder of all holos is super neat.

Depends on the set since some are larger than others, and some are difficult to get trading going. But anything I’m missing after opening comes either from trading or from buying singles at my local shop!
How are you feeling about stellar crown? I feel like I’m in crazy town because I agree with you on this set and kinda feel the same on stellar crown, so not sure how much that one will hit with folks either.
@@Pokelou502 I really can appreciate more of the bigger cards from Stellar, and the Illustration rares look awesome too! But overall, i’m excited for surging sparks and the eventual rocket set coming out next year

This pulls from this set were really bad for me. The Greninja and Kingdra promos are great though! It always amazes me how fast you complete everything 😮💪🏼
I’m a little behind and it’s hard to get going again with two release schedules at once between Pokémon and lorcana. I’m getting the few enchanteds I need at a time for Inklands and will continue on!
Good choice! If you get the bug paldea evolved is an incredible set to master set and now would be a good time before it starts getting harder to find the packs

What kind of list? Like a checklist or something? The players guide from the etb is always helpful. But I might be able to put something together, what are you looking for?
Especially for small sets like this a 3x3 is cool, but whenever I use a 3x3 I just put the normal and then the reverse on top of it in the same slot. That way there isn’t any awkwardness of the same cards always falling on another line. But yeah I really love the 4x3 to avoid that issue haha
I like that look too. To me, it makes the binder and the pages too thick so I get paranoid I’m stuffing it too full and hurting the cards. I know it’s just bulk but still!
man master sets always look way better in 4x3 binders, sucks though that even 2 small sets are usually too big to fit in one of these binders so kinda feels like your wasting having so much empty space. Clever putting the japanese set to fill it up a bit instead!
Yeah. For my vintage master sets and even up through, like, XY, I have multiple sets per binder. Kinda locked myself in with the 4x3 so multiple sets it is!

I think the set is actually under rated. The IR are really cool and with some better pull rates it could be a really good set with an easy master set

I bought the rest of what I needed on eBay. But now TCGplayer sells Japanese so if you’re in the US at least it’s much easier to get Japanese singles!

No, unfortunately! The specialty sets like this, 151, and Paldean fates don’t have prerelease kits or anything.

I do my sets the same pattern as you but when it comes to an EX I like to put an energy or the back of a set sleeve next to it to keep the pattern

I like the idea of using the ETB sleeves for empty slots I am also a master collector and I may borrow that going forwards.

I don't think this is a bad set overall, if the Kingdra and Greninja promos were actually set cards they'd be alot more hype though.
