  • How to fix a 2011 Hyundai ELANTRA that has that famous steering wheel clunk as you turn the wheel slightly to the left or the right or when driving down the road. Make sure you follow the directions in the video to diagnose it properly before you go to the trouble to take it apart. This is a cheap five dollar or so fix if you’re ambitious and can do the work yourself. It looks a little intimidating, but it’s really not too bad. We do not show how to take the steering column out of the car but again it’s something that only has three bolts that hold it in and one cover so it’s not too bad if you feel up to it but it is a little time-consuming. We find most people can do it at home in a few hours when they try to do it themselves.
If you don’t feel comfortable doing yourself, you can always buy the part and take it to a mechanic or have them get the part for you. Just make sure you stay safe.

Does all the wiring get rewrapped ?

Actually, no wiring needs to be removed or unwrapped. What you are seeing loose is a aftermarket remote starter system that is hanging loose. We did secure it when we buttoned it up.
