With my Ford Focus, I was able to use Forscan (free) and a OBD2 adapter ($20, Amazon) to program a generic key fob ($20, Amazon). Was very easy and saved a few hundred bucks.
Edit: Compatible with Ford, Mazda, Lincoln, Mercury.

Quick question for anyone that can answer it: I have a 2012 Toyota Corolla that is currently blowing warm air out the vents. I pushed the valve stem on a high pressure line with a rag over and safety glasses on and extremely cold refrigerant came out, like ice cold. But that ice cold is not making it into the evaporator and cooling the cabin. What could it be??? I was thinking compressor, but why would it be so ice cold, if it was the compressor? Also the condenser fan is working.

Thanks for watching. AC Refrigerant in any amount of pressure even when diluted with air will always get colder when released from a higher pressure to a lower pressure. This is how an AC system operates. The Compressor compresses the gas to a liquid state, then it is released internally by an expansion valve or orifice tube to a lower pressure gas state and this transfer makes it colder inside of the system. That gas gets compressed again by the compressor into a liquid state and this process happens over and over again. The evaporator which is cold absorbs the cabin heat and carries it with the refrigerant to the condenser where the condenser transfers the heat to the outside air. If you release some refrigerant to the air, even if the system is very low on pressure or has air in it with the refrigerant it will be colder (and dangerous) The system should be evacuated at a shop, recharged and checked for leaks, and tested to see if the compressor operates properly. If you are lucky, your system may just be low on refrigerant. It may also have more serious issues, but a shop will need to look it over.

I remember around 2021 Russ said "The EV wave is coming." He said it with the wide eyed enthusiasm and admiration the way a wrestling fan talks about their favorite wrestler. Question: With the MASSIVE public rejection of the EV does Russ still have the Tingle in the Dingle concerning all electric vehicles? No malice meant- I love the show and I wish I had 1/100th of Russ's knowledge.......But I could tell he was ecstatic about an EV Revolution.

Well….. yes, I still love certain EVs and their technology, but… ONLY. When each and every consumer can make their own choice to win or drive one. Not if they are ever forced to move one direction for any reason. Technology is always cool.

"Massive" in capital letters is a bit over the top. 1.2 million EVs were sold in 2023 and 1.9 million are predicted for 2024.
