    Love this. Would probably change from the RC LiPo's we are using at the moment (no BMS, less safe) but the prices of RC LiPo's is still a fraction of the cost per mAh.

      The V-Mounts go into the magic bag of tricks. RC LiPos are attractive for many applications. However, things tend to start getting messy with them if you need a regulated power supply or different voltages. Plus, they need baby sitting, you can't over discharge them or they will be dead for ever. They certainly have advantages, they're light and relatively inexpensive. Engineering is all about tradeoffs, as you know. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks, Jim. I wasn't familiar with these, but they might be perfect for a couple of my projects.

      Oh, also, I'm definitely interested in a video on integrating USB PD into projects.

      @@sansmojo The batteries are popular, but in a niche so many people don't see them. Thanks for the input, and thanks for watching!

    That's a nice set of features... I think i'll be sticking with the previously recommended NP-F style batteries for my pi and nano projects.
    But now i'm thinking UPS for a pico power supply- i suppose providing power while charging is a point to research.

      Going with what already works is always a good choice in my book. Done is my favorite color. It's good to know what's out there in case you starting making new projects. Thanks for watching!

    Is the battery protected against over-discharge/undervoltage when using the D-TAP port?

    • @JetsonHacks
      @JetsonHacks  23 дня назад +2

      Most high-quality mini v-mount batteries have over-discharge protection built-in, including on the D-Tap port. This is a standard safety feature to prevent the battery from completely draining, which can damage the battery cells and shorten its lifespan. I believe the battery cutoff on the VB50 is 11V. However, it might be worth asking the manufacturer of the battery you intend to buy. Thanks for watching!
