Hmm... I need to get me like 5 of these at that price. Not just for gear, but when the power goes out and you need to charge stuff or even run some small Pocket LEDs for light.
Thanks for your video. I have two smallrig VB99 and VB155, and two neewer PS099E. It can be seen that neewer is using the price war strategy of "self-loss" to attack smallrig. After a period of use, I will choose smallrig for my next purchase, although the price of neewer battery is more exciting. However, the texture and battery life of smallrig make people feel more at ease and reliable. neewer always gives me the feeling of a cheap material, fearing that it will have some accidents due to overheating or falling.😂
Yep, the pro version looks very sturdy. I'm planning on getting one to check it out. It's a bit pricey right now though, I'm waiting for the smallrig to go on sale.@@NatesFilmTutorials
@@TheMichaelTech It's a little smaller, a little lighter. The screen is flush whereas the Neewer screen protrudes a bit. The Neewer always has its super detailed screen on. Smallrigs only turns super detailed when it's powering something. So when you charge the Neewer you've got to get close to see the tiny percentage font. The Smallrig percentage takes up the whole screen, you can see it from MUCH further away. Smallrigs to me had slightly better build quality. And the ports are laid put slightly more conveniently. Basically Neweer tried to copy it and all the changes they made were slight dis-improvements.
@@NatesFilmTutorials Thank you for the fast answer, this for sure but do you know if I need a special charger that supports Power Delivery and GAN? Which charger would you prefer?
I would say that you could get a smaller plate to keep the overall package of bit smaller. Also, because the battery already has plenty of ports, you could get a normal adapter rather than an actual plate with electronics if you want to save money.
@@NatesFilmTutorials Thanks. I’m gonna get the smallrig cage for my Canon R6 II. I bought this battery last night because it’s on sale for half off. So now I’m figuring out all the accessories and what is compatible with what. It’s a whole new world for me. lol
@@NatesFilmTutorials would recommend basic vs the lite? I haven’t been able to find a description of the difference between the two. Thanks for helping me out here!!
Hey bud, wanted to ask you if you can power the camera through neewer V mount battery when the camera is turned on. When I turned on the battery and connect it with camera when its off, it draws power for a bit but then shut off in about a minute. Also, everytime you turn the camera on, I have to always take the usb-c out and reconnect it to have camera start drawing the power. Am I doing something wrong here?
To power a Lumix S5 and an Atomos Ninja with a V-mount battery all day, you'd typically need a battery with a voltage output of around 14.4 volts. However voltage and wattage are different things. I would pick up 2 99wh batteries which should be more than plenty for a full day shoot. I was able to power my a7siii, monitor, wireless transmitter and focus, for a good part of my short film shoot
Would this be good for LIVE streaming, my S22 Ultra drains kind of fast with an average power bank (20K mah). So im looking to get an at least an extra hour out of it.
had this battery on my last shoot. incredible little thing!
I have 2 now, but I want like 20 haha
Great Review and side by side comparisons! That price! I think that’s what this low-budget filmmaker needs.
Thanks!
Thanks for the review! This is the first video I've seen from you, must say your audio is super nice :D
Appreciate it Jushue! It's a Sennheiser MKH-416 just out of frame, same as MKHBD's setup!
Super helpful!!! Your review is thorough, clear, and efficient. Truly appreciate you taking time to share this video!!!
Appreciate it! 🙏
Great review! I just bought one, and I own the MS60C. Great review, Thanks.

Sounds like a Mr. Beast video... I powered my home with 100 mini V-mount Batteries!

Good point! Smallrig also has a new pro version that looks like a solid solution too!

I took some nail polish and debadged the awful "neewer" labeling and now the battery looks 100x better than smallrig 😊
Ooh… I’ll have to try that!
the hero we need
Snob 😂
I have both. I prefer the Small Rig. SmallRig also makes a 212Wh battery. It didn't exist at the time this video was released.
Any reason why you prefer the smallrig?

How do I charge this V-Mount battery? Can I charge it with the Anker 65w charger from your description or do I need another special charger?
You can use a d-tap charger or charge through the USB-C!

@Nagadosch if you get one with power delivery it should charge faster!
I really appreciate this video. Just ordered some lights and was trying to figure out if this was worth it. Thanks.
Perfect! Glad it was helpful. Which lights are you using?
How long does this battery run on a camera on average
It should power the camera body for 8 hours, So definitely last all day of shooting!
Building my first rig out, so bare with this newbie. Does the difference in size effect what size v mount battery plate I should buy?

@diamondeyesfilms Nice! I recommend this plate from smallrig, should work with your cage and is super compact geni.us/lAaSVox

Looks like the Basic has a few more quick release plates that come included! I believe that is the version I have!

no music huh?
I am guessing the battery cannot power a GH5 since the camera does not have power delivery.
It can! Just get this d-tap adapter for your GH5! geni.us/UIKKUc4

Great vid! Idk about you but i have 2 of these and both d tap ports are almost unusable from poor design. Other than that I love mine!
