Bass Boats Can't Go Here! Lake Chickamauga Kayak Bass Fishing!

- We're sneaking around the backwaters today to avoid boat traffic. With hundreds of boats on the water and fishing pressure at an all time high, its time to jump in the kayak. Why a kayak in such a big lake? We're able to get into all the places the boats can't go! Come along as Matt catches fish in backwater coves and pockets.
Today is all about finesse. Matt started off with a tiny underspin, a senko, and a shaky head, then added a dropshot to the mix as conditions dictated. There were a few prespawn fish around but the majority of these bass were spawning. Since he was using finesse tackle, Matt added some new rods into the mix as well. He tried out a new Halo KSII Elite, a Savage Gear Black Ops, and the new Ultegra spinning reel and had great success with all of them.
While we love fishing out of the bass boats and using all the modern electronic advantages, there is something very rewarding about getting on the water in a small craft, no electronics, and just going fishing. If you haven't given kayak fishing a try, you really should. Below you'll find links to all the gear, the baits, and the equipment Matt used today. We've included the exact models and specific colors Matt was using as well. All the links go directly to Tackle Warehouse where you can see detailed photos and descriptions of each item, except for the kayak link which goes directly to the manufacturer.

Definitely more kayak videos!
Agreed just ordered a feel free moken
@@larryvilla6869 you're going to love it!
@@gregstabryla9945 yeah spent hours looking for what I felt would be best at the price and that was it. Only problem was finding one. Had to get it pre ordered so it’ll be here in may some time.
@@larryvilla6869 I have a feeling that you won't regret it. Love mine.( Have a Garmin striker 4, battery, transducer all inside the sonar pod!) Screwed the screen on top. Perfect for me.
@@gregstabryla9945 yeah i need some poles for it to keep it in place in shallow water and a cheaper fish finder to find structure and ledges
I love that Y'all moved to Tennessee. Now I get local fish expertise from the best guys out there!!!
Great vid!! ^^ Boats and Kayaks all great! Anyone else want to see Matt straight bank fishing?? haha
That’d be great!
Man it would be cool to see more kayak content like this. Just getting into bass fishing and kayaking!
“HEY GUYS, WELCOME BACK TO TAAACTICAL BAAAAASSSIN”
hahahah. It's almost meditative at this point.
Get your pen and paper ready
@@derekwilliams6403 class is in session
i just got to class good to see y’all
All I fish is from my kayak. I love when you guys get on the kayaks. I never fish big open water. Just back waters and rivers.
The fish must go back into the water and tell their friends, “I WAS ON THE TACTICAL BASSIN YT CHANNEL!!!!” They be like no way
Kayak video!!! Awesome. More of these!
More kayak tips and tricks please.
They're on the way 👍
How are you liking the Auto Pilots? I love mine.
Love it when you guys do kayak videos. Small personal water crafts are by far my favorite way to fish. Hope you and Tim do many more kayak videos this season. Great job and thanks.
Love seeing you guys in kayaks cause that's how I fish. Great video
Which kayak are you in these days?
Any day I wake up and I see RUclips icons the top of my screen it says tacticalbassin it's a good day to be alive
I second that 👍🏼
Glad to see you back in the kayak.
I knew there was no way Matt could only bring 3 rigs out...and then the drop shot came out to play
Ha!! I tried!! That terminal box was pretty loaded down but I kept the plastics to a minimum 😂
Ha! I was thinking the exact same thing!
Love this video. Please do more of these!! Also, I would love to see you guys do a bank fishing episode you guys actually just go pond hopping. Small community ponds or farm ponds. Pressured ponds with finicky fish. Would love to see how you guys break down those small ponds and find the fish.
Great stuff! I’ve owned a few boats in my day, but there’s just something so primal about kayak fishing. For me, it’s so much more satisfying catching bass in my Hobie.
Why is it weird to see a spinning combo in your hands on the GoPro Matt lol awesome job buddy! Great video!
Wanna see you and Tim both out on the yaks together!! Next please!!
I love love love my old town sportsman 120, thanks for throwing down a yak vid!
Love My autopilot 120. Such a great kayak! Keep smashing them
Just got an Old Town so I'm glad to see the video!
Let’s gooo would love to see more videos and fishing kayak tips 🔥🔥🔥🎣
Thanks for the kayak fishing video. Much appreciated.
Some kayak angler love! Hell yea!
Love the kayak video should do a few more.
I would absolutely love to see more kayak fishing tip videos 🔥🔥🔥
Hope to see more of these kayak videos.... love it!!! 👍
Kayak and spinning rods...thank you.
lol when you start laughing as your going under the bridge. Fishing brings out the kid in us adults. Good stuff man.
Ha! So true 👍
Hey guys I absolutely love watching your videos! Also, this kayak fishing one really hit home for me and it would be really cool to see more of them!
Yes sir …. Love the kayak videos!!!! Love to bass fish and I love the knowledge bombs y’all drop. The truth is I will never drop 100k on a bass boat. Nothing wrong with that. In the past I have owned several boats. Kayak is just an awesome way to fish.
Nice kayak. In the market for one. This video makes me want it now!
Thank you for the excellent kayak video. So exciting to see all the great catches with simple finesse presentations.
I hope you can produce more kayak videos.
I’ll never be able to own a bass boat. I really enjoy kayak fishing.
Thank you again.
There will be a lot more of this as we head through the warmer months and focus our time on smaller fisheries 👍
I am so excited you guys are in the kayaks thank you guys this is what I have been waiting for
Vous êtes les meilleurs professeurs de pêche a l’achigan !! Love your work guys keep it up !!🎣🎣🎣
Yes, more kayak fishing! Please do some tips on kayak fishing tournament.
Yes Sir! Ive got a Tracker Topper 10W jon boat that will get you in pure kayak country. 2 size 31’s,2 trolling motors,me,4 rods and tackle to match plus the cooler barely sit 6” in the water. This is why I got it. Sometimes you gotta leave the big boys behind and go hunting.
Love the kayak videos!
Perfect timing!! I just bought a Vibe Sea Ghost 110 and I'm ready for some new tips!
Caught a bunch of nice spots yesterday fishing an 3.3” Keitech on a 1/4oz underspin drifting down the riprap on the dam. The spotted bass fight so hard, especially when they see you and the boat....Hang on baby!!!!!!
6:22 great interaction; you come across some very cool people fishing
In lieu of that smallie smasher...I keep a bag of Missile baits "Bomb Shots" in Fishalicious color, so they can be regular shad color, or dyed with spike it, to be chartreuse, blue, red, green, etc, or a blend of those dyes. I'm in Charlotte NC, so the lakes and ponds around the city get a ton of pressure. Dropshotting/finesse fishing is a go to for me many days. There's something very satisfying about going into a crowded area, and catching fish behind people who aren't catching fish...lol. As always, good video.
I love the kayak videos, I'm sure that's because I don't have a bass boat yet but one day hopefully.
I love my kayak. Been to Clearlake twice this month. Running around on that minnkota has helped me travel so much more I landed more fish because of it.
It makes a HUGE difference! Definitely opens up doors we wouldn't have otherwise.
Sold my BSB 360 Angler and got that Auto Pilot. It's an over used term, but in this case it's appropriate: game changer!
I just put an ultegra on an slx... luv it
Great “go to” finesse combo
Just managed to snag my first high quality rod, a 7’2 MH Expride, almost exclusively cause of your $500 combo buyers guide vids. Pretty fired up that it was actually in stock
glad you went on the kayak!!!
My #1 reason for kayak fishing. Can't beat the peace that comes with the spots either. I always bring that 2.8 Keitech too. It catches everything and not just the small ones.
I cannot wait until my shearwater 125 arrives!! I'm gonna be out there wacking them too 😎. Great video as always! Love the kayak stuff.
Yes I luv kayak fishing. Can’t wait to watch!
Hey man! I definitely like being able to see your hands as you fish! What you're doing with retrieval and everything really has been helping me! Appreciate the hard work for us all 💪🎣💯👍
Always enjoy coming along with y’all Matt. Y’all have taught me a lot in the last 5 or 6 years I’ve watched every vid y’all put out. Y’all have cost me a lot of money too 🤣. Keep the vids rolling cause I look forward to them
Fishing Fever took a chunk of my cash too!
I've been doing this lately...grab a few baits and commit to them and cover water. It is relaxing...just grab and go. Instead of grabbing a gazillion setups and overthinking it...no prep work etc... Great vid.
That was such an awesome catch under that dock when you switched baits. You could have had that bass eating out of your hand I bet. Lol.
I love finess fishing and do a lot of it in my kayaks as well but also off my little boat and I catch some big fish doing it as well.
I like the kayak videos !
Great video! I watch you everyday! When you post a video in the morning I try and watch before school if I have time but if I don't I watch it after school!
Cool video, more kayak fishing videos please!
Nice Matt! Been beating the banks lately because I can’t store a kayak anywhere. Lots of success with lower profile baits such as finesse jigs. The resemblance to a craw tends to make the bass more aggressive and you rarely get a short strike.
Please more kayak fishing videos!!! Thanks
My favorite - kayak fishing
Awesome video. Thanks for the knowledge.
We were there for a week during this time and man the pressure this lake gets is insane. Made for tough fishing.
Great video Matt, thanks man!
Another awesome video coach!
You goin under the bridge i could here 007 music playin 😂 great video brother, i fish exclusively in the yak or from shore
Thanks for sharing
That medium light zodias with a light shakey head really caught my eye. Never thought of going to a light baitcaster for a shakey head.
You'll love it! When I started throwing a baitcaster for my shaky head I never went back. It's really, really fun!
I'd like to see a vid about your Yak setup - especially your trolling motor.
It's built into this particular model from the factory. Minn Kota made it custom for this line of kayaks. It's awesome!
I enjoy watching these videos more and more every week. You guys are doing it right, and I love learning from you both. Thank you, gents!
Hey Matt and Tim... I’m still waiting for you guys to get out on Center Hill Lake... I’m from So Cal and fish Tennessee a couple of times a year. If fish Chic, Timms, Normandy, Collin’s River but my go to lake is Center Hill! Great lake for a trifecta of largemouth, spots and smallies! Cmon guys, give it a go!🏄🏼♂️🎣🤙
Awesome vid! I love tactical bassin because y'all keep it interesting, and I'm always learning new stuff from y'all! Thanks Matt & Tim for all the tips and tricks you guys have taught me! 💯🎣🎣🐟🐟
I just picked up an ole town sportsman's Autopilot love too see more video like this
Love the yak video!
Like seeing these videos. As a paddle only kayaker, it's pretty hard to find something in my wheelhouse. Please make more of this type.
When he went under that bridge I was scared for him, that was not a lot of room awesome video!
I liked that you use a scupper hole to run the stake pole through. Looks better and easier than using an anchor trolley.
Always enjoy your videos Matt! I love that I can feel the joy your feeling and the fun and peace your experiencing! Great video as always! Keep them coming 💪👏🙌🎣💥
kayak swimbait fishing!!
Thanks for such great knowledge Matt!
You should get the minn Kota puck so you can utilize the jog spot lock feature. It’s amazing and so helpful move in 5 ft increments with each tap of the button (3 taps =15 ft)
Thanks Matt, love the Kayak videos so much I bought one myself and got it the first of the month and have been killing it with a texas rig 5 inch swimsenko. Keep making these videos they are awesome and would love to see more Muskee action.
Who laughed out loud @4:46? That was great Matt!!
Gotta love kayak fishing... you might not be able to go far, but you can go deep (into those backwaters)... Lol
Pls post more Kayak fishing. ThNks
Funny because Rodman is almost there!
Worm trick I learned the other day. If you get heat sink tubing and cut a piece then put it on your worm and then heat it it acts like a much much cheaper oring and one pack will last you a lifetime
lol I cracked up at you getting all wadded up to get under that bridge!
Hold up. Matt actually using a sub-$200 rod??! Good stuff, as always guys.
I love my AP136 it’s such a game changer. I did the same kind of duck the other day off a river in MA lmfao
Can't wait till my September trip down there. Thx again TB.
I've been working on my kayak for the past couple days. I have a feelfree lure 13.5 and am in the process of putting a 65lb brushless trolling motor with an electric kayak company mount. I can't wait till its done!
Can’t wait to see you guys get on the cicada top water bite this year! It’s gonna be another big cicada hatch!
Love the kayak videos. I know exactly that bridge. I inpect it.
Ha! Small world!!
Hey put that back haha like he owns that bass lol
Yeaaa! Kayaks!
It's always so weird seeing different bass from different parts of the country. Like every video I'm always thinking the bass look weird compared to the ones I catch
Great video, loved to see the yak back on the water! Like others have said, it does look strange to see the spinning reel on the chest cam 😆
Ha! Definitely not our normal
This is most of my fishing these days right now. I have a 10 ft Pelican Bass Raider, it's a little 2 man scamp I run with an electric trolling motor. I can go anywhere in it, I just can't go too far or too fast haha. I always have one of those floating pool thermometers with me that I drag around for water temp monitoring.
How do you like that boat? We've been considering picking one up next year for a family member that can't maneuver a larger boat.
@@tacticalbassin Love the little boat. Great for smaller water, but works on big water too. It's very stable, I'm 6'10" 300 lbs, my fishing buddy is 6'7", we fit just fine, have never flipped it or fallen out. I've seen people put very small outboards on them too and you can trick them out and modify them. I love the thing, it's just tough in the wind!
