Also sadly, not really a smart. At least not what we knew as smart for more than two decades. A Chinese built-Mercedes designed collaboration with Geely? Yes. When VW brought back the Beetle, they kept the styling. So did Fiat with the 500e. As well as BMW with the Mini Cooper. This?.. 🤷🏻♂️
@@lordmellis7135 Mercedes should have hired me to fix this car’s name. Did someone allow a child to name this car? Why not call it the ForFour, or even a ForFive. Or maybe an EQ4 or EQ5 for the number of passengers it can carry (or the number of doors it has). Anything but #1. What’s the next one gonna be called? #2? 💩 Seriously. The car may be nice, but the seem to have forgotten 1. What a smart should look like. 2. What it should be priced like. And 3. What it should be called. Ah, well.. it’s only 50% MB’s fault as Geely ownes the other half. Guess they deserve half the blame. Moving on. I proudly own two smart ForTwo electric drives, one coupe & one cabrio.. I’d buy another ForTwo without hesitation. This though.. it’s basically a Chinese built EQA to me and should have been named as such. Slapping a smart logo and badge on it does not magically make it a smart. But hey, seems like the execs think this is what’s needed to grow the brand, more power to them. But I know I’m not the only one confused with the name, the price, and the styling for a car carrying the smart nameplate. Now as far as Tesla goes, they don’t need my help. S, X, 3, Y.. that bloody brilliant if you ask me.
I love it. If my sons (tiny) wheelchair fits in there I may have found my next car. I can't understand why other larger electric only cars such as the Megane, MG4, etc don't have a frunk. seem badly designed when they don't.
It sounds amazing. For 95% of the time in Australia (for me) this would be the perfect car though for the trip between Brisbane - Sydney - Melbourne the range is just way too small. It needs to be at least 600km
Really sorry, it was some time ago but I didn’t ask them that when had the car for the day. Yes it is only in electric, smart haven’t produced a petrol car in quite a few years now
The Brabus version has the same 0 to 60 as my BMW I4 M50. I was hoping that Mercedes would be bringing out a smaller EV but there is no sign at present. I like the look of the Smart #3 and also the Volvo EX 30 but it has few buttons and is controlled by a large touch screen with no speedometer in front of the driver or no head up display.
Ah Mercedes are working on something (several models in fact!) I reckon from reading rumours online it’ll be next year we’ll hear something. I’ll post about it if I hear anything!
Good morning Nick, the car looks good but do EVs add up, and this is why. 1st the WLTP range is based on 100% charge. 2nd the manufacturer only states charge rates to 80% as this takes less time and is better for the battery. 3rd battery manufacturers and EV manufacturers recommended not to discharge more than 50% to maintain battery life. This actually equates to usable capacity of 30% in real terms to get anywhere near the claimed battery life. Cheers Peter.
Hey Peter, lithium-ion batteries can be used across all percentages during their life and are never confined to being above 50%. That would make them unusable day to day. What should be recommended is that batteries are not stored for lengths of time at either end (below 20% or higher than 80%). So if you’re going away on holiday, not using the car, that is when you’d want to stick to 50% or there abouts. Any other time, you can use the car at any percentage this will not affect the warranty. Battery warranties are often 8 years on EV’s so I presume it’s the same for the smart #1.
Can you confirm the boot size? Some people have stated 411L others 270L (both with seats all the way back) it's very confusing knowing how big the boot is.
Yes I had this confirmed by smart when I filmed it: share.icloud.com/photos/0fdgX7W6ORb0vNYF56F_QvD2w That’s all of the configurations (link valid for 30 days)
@@npoleary thanks a lot. :) I trust you more than other youtubers. really can't understand why there is so much confusion around the boot size. Just one video where one guy in an early preview stated it had 180 litres. :/ even looking at the video that's clearly nowhere near accurate.
Thank you! 🙏🙏 I do fact check everything in my notes before producing a video, however if there is a mistake, I’ll add a note to the pinned comment underneath 🤓
Hey Jagjit, ah they’re sold at Mercedes dealerships 🤓 Mercedes allow me to review their cars so as I often review them, I thought it would be quite fitting to see how it compared 🤓 And it’s quite surprising! There’s lots of standard equipment! 😇
I’ll check out the multimedia system in the future for sure and let you know! Apple CarPlay not on the pre-production car but will be on cars purchased. I’ve heard there may be a couple from launch that won’t have it but they’ll be a software update before Christmas which will give it to them all.
@@npoleary I hope it has. I currently have the GLB premium and the 3D map view is so much better than a Birds Eye view as it gives a sense of direction (as does the supporting augmented reality direction on screen). The OS of this car though… I’m not sure it will stay like this for long. It’s playful but I think it’s really gimmicky for the sake of being different. But if CarPlay gets added like you’ve mentioned, it won’t matter for most. Thanks for your reply.
It's not appreciated to accelerate when you have a blind spot on your right side corner, just behind the parked car. Sorry about that. Kids can just run into the street.
PRICING HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED!
➡ OTR in the UK starting from £35,950 for the Pro+
How much for the Brabus version Nick ?
£43,450 OTR in the UK
For a car that does 0-62mph in 3.9 sec 🤯
I need to see this 😅
I like it but sad to see a MB was Made in China...and, this car was just selling at £24000 in China 😓
Seems very impressive. Will be looking at this as a possible purchase.
I've ordered the EQA350 AMG. 🍾 I'll stick to that
I’ve been all in since the concept. Can’t wait to order the Brabus version.
It looks so good! 👍🏼
Saw this car in fully charged live today in Farnborough and it’s beautiful 😍 I love the car. Can’t wait to give it a test drive.
Ah awesome! Wish I could have gone! 🤓
@@npolearyaww.. why didn’t you go? I was looking forward to see lots of RUclipsrs as well but only recognised some of them 🙈🙈🙈
Ah I was filming the next video! 😛
Maybe next year 👀
@@npoleary wow nice.
Another video to look forward 😊
So.. cheaper than a Model 3, much better looking, much higher quality & almost as fast🤔
Not actually cheaper, not better looking, and not as fast. Fixed it for you.

This is a shared platform with Volvo EX30 and Geelys Zeekr X. The Twin Motor EX30 is specced to make 0-60mph on 3,40seconds....
Great video, heard this might have the same underpinnings as the new A or B class, I really hope MB keeps the A and B class in some shape or form.
Really love this #1 ❤
Only just stumbled on this well presented beautifully made video. Will be looking for a local smart dealer in due course.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! 🤓

I bought the Brabus and I love it
Ah awesome! I’ve seen how fast that is on paper! I’d love to try it!
Great video nick and nice to see you venturing outside the dealership..😊 Enjoyed the content very much and would consider one as my first EV..😁👍
Thank you! 🙏🙏
😊 The launch edition in the UK does have a head up display.

Hey Mr Nick, do u have 10 pairs of black jeans and 10 black tees in your wardrobe? 😆 love your work.
I have a few 🤣

Speedo? Does it have HUD?
Hey John, as it’s just launched and as spec varies, double check with your local Mercedes/smart showroom and they can let you know 🤓
@@npoleary Apparently it's not coming to Australia! :-(
Ah dang, maybe one day!
