- This quick and easy fruit loaf recipe works out at only 0.32p per slice and it is a very simple cake to make. It has loads of dried fruit in it and tastes delicious. Do have a go at this quick and simple fruit loaf recipe youself.
Simple Fruit Loaf.
225g SR Flour 0.12
115g Butter 0.86
115g Caster Sugar 0.20
225g Sultaners 0.55
2 Eggs 0.26 ( I made an error in the video and said this was 0.16p but it is actually 0.26p)
4 Tbsp milk 0.04
Pinch of salt 0.01
Total 1.94
6 slices @ 0.32
Rub the butter into the flour and salt.
Add the sugar and fruit and mix together.
Mix the eggs and milk together.
Add the milk and egg into the flour and butter and mix.
Bake in an oven at 180c for 45mins.

Been making this cake for years, put a bit of light brown sugar on the top before you bake. Lovely.

One of my all time favourite cakes. No fuss and with no heavy flavoured spices needed or overly sweet. Just need a mug of hot tea to wash it down, very satisfying.

I made this today and it is superb. The best fruit loaf ever. It is crispy caramelized and super moist. Not over sweet. This is a keeper. Everyone has to try this! I only added just a tint more milk to get it all mixed together. I am not a raisin bread fan but I absolutely love this! Ty!😊

Hi Dave. I wrote to you few days ago from Australia. Just wanted to let you know that I made the fruit loaf today. It turned out sooooo delicious 😋. I doubled the ingredients and made two, one for friends and the other for my husband and me. We couldn't wait for the loaf to cool enough to cut it without feeling the heat on our fingers 😁. The crust was so nice and crisp and the inside very moist and really easy to make. Thanks so much 👍. The next on my list is the ginger cake and the lemon drizzle loaf hopefully in few days time. Love this, I am going to make this today. I would like to add lemon or vanilla essence. A small touch of lemon would be lovely. Got me thinking about other combinations of fruit even blueberries. Thanks again, I love the no-nonsense approach you have. Keep the recipes coming. BTW while I live on the other side of the world in Australia I grew up and was influenced by my English grandparents who lived next door. So much of what you cook was what my granddad cooked, as he was the cook in the family. He made the best apple and meat pies. His pastry was to die for, so short and rich. Beautiful people and beautiful memories.

I have just made this and it's devine 😋. Light, full of fruit and slightly crispy on the outside. That could just be my very old gas oven but I do like the crisp outside. It literally took me 10 mins to throw all the ingredient together.
