    As we can barely afford to use heating in the UK, a tip I use to help the dough to rise is to stand the bowl on a hot water bottle. It works a treat. Another great, simple recipe, thank you.

    When I was stationed in Dusseldorf there was a pizza restaurant where you could stand outside and watch them make the pizza. They used exactly the same method as you to spread the dough out and the 'up in the air' bit was very rare. They also recommended to use less sauce and cheese but to spread them to within about 1cm of the edge. I think tomorrow is going to be pizza day 😁👍

    You can get tin tomatoes cheaper than 50p you can get at 35p for 400g (Aldi)
    the tomato paste is 59p in Aldi for a tube.
    Aldi do a pack of pepperoni for £1.09p for 120g so think that may be cheaper so can drop the price for this pizza.
    I do like having the cheese getting right to the edge of the pizza. since when cooking the bread gets to hard so just does not get eaten.

    How would we do a stuffed crust one?

    • @harrietmann3249
      @harrietmann3249 6 месяцев назад +6

      Stretch it out further to accommodate doubling the crust over. When it's on the tray, add a little cheese about 3/4 inch from the edge. Fold the edge over the cheese and seal the edge to the base with a firm poke, like you're crimping the edge of a pie. I do a couple inches at a time and work my way around the pizza.

    • @BakingOnABudget

    As I prefer thin crust pizza, would it just be a case of of spreading the dough thinner?

    • @renel7303
      @renel7303 6 месяцев назад +1

      Yes. Also reduce cooking time. You should probably look up a thin crust pizza recipe online and use the cooking time for that as a reference.

    • @BakingOnABudget
      @BakingOnABudget  6 месяцев назад +1

      Yes you could make the dough thinner or put the ingredients closer to the edge as the dough will not rise so much with the sauce and topping on.

    Your channel is perfect for these times right now. I really enjoy watching and you have explained in a way that is no nonsense. I’ve just started cake Thursday on my weekly routine. I want to try to master a plain moist yellow cake. I’ve been trying but I haven’t arrived at the one I’m hoping for. Oh and the pie crust. I wish I could get a flaky crust without using Lard. I’m going to rewatch that episode. Can it be all butter, no lard? I’m so happy to have found your channel, I wish you the very best.
    Also your kitchen and how tidy and simple things are is awesome.

    • @BakingOnABudget
      @BakingOnABudget  6 месяцев назад

      Thanks so much, You could do the pastry with all butter, and if you left the sultanas out of the fruit loaf video you should have something resembling a yellow cake. Happy baking.
