    In the case of the 787, the GEnx has better reliability than the Trent 1000; so thats why is the most preferable choice.

      @@Jil1AGE claims 1.4% better efficiency because of the 2nd or 3rd generation carbon fibre fan blades which RR will only start on with the Ultra Fan and far behind GE’s carbon fibre fan blade evolution

    How airlines choose their turbofan engines…
    Technicians - whichever is simpler to service.
    Mechanics - whichever is simpler to repair.
    Engineers - whichever is more reliable.
    Managers - whichever is more logistically available.
    Accountants - whichever is more fuel economical.
    Business Administrators - whichever is cheaper.

      Best On wing is Rolls-Royce Total Care program. In old or new, such F100 or A330, the best of.

    when 80s-90s, the era of 747, 767, 777, A330, there is 3 brands of engines can be selected: RR, GE, PW
    CFM = GE + Safran
    IAE = RR + PW + Japanese Aero Engine Corporation + MTU Aero Engines (in early times, but RR leave the joint venture in 2011

    British Airways prefers trent 1000 because it's British-built and American Airlines prefers Genx because it's American-built

    In a320 family someone once said CFM56 performs better on hot and high places

      And more reliable. Initially CFM56-5 sales were none existent until the competing IAE engine ran into huge problems and then when sales took off that replacement engine that was going to be offered instead of that CFM56 version was dropped

    Doesn’t the IAE V2500 design have some influence from the RR-RB211 on the 757?

      possibly, but probably not. iae is partly owned by pratt and whitney

      With the 767-300ER all 3 engine choices are directly interchangeable with the 747-400 because of tandem development

      Trent 1000 😂😂😂 and the other engines from that overrated company aren't the most reliable in the market, either, but they are somewhat better than P&W
