  • A rousing production number, featuring Adia Kuznetzoff (singer), with Ilona Massey (Baroness Frankenstein) and of course Lon Chaney Jr. as Lawrence Talbot, the Wolfman.

    One of the most memorable, sad, tragic and iconic scenes in horror movie history. God, nobody could play a cursed lycanthrope quite like Lon Chaney Jr.

He says"I'm Lawrence Talbot..Lawrence Talbot"(Crying)"he weeps and says to them"Why can't you understand. He really knew how to play on my emotions.

    This is a magnifent scene. One of my favorites from the Wolfman franchise. Everything is spectacular. The song and dance is catchy and fun to sing along with. Talbot's reaction to the word "eternally" is great. Elsa's slow reaction to Talbot not having a good time. And Larry's outburst is heartbreaking.

    I don't care what anyone says, this is a VERY well-done scene. The lively music and choreography combine to convey effectively the atmosphere of a joyous town festival. And the way it torments poor 'Larry Talbot' (The Wolf Man) introduces an unexpected dark element to the proceedings. As for those who can only nitpick and mock certain details (based on changing dramatic styles) ... what a pity. BTW, is Baroness Frankenstein not a beauty?

    Larry’s unwavering desire to die and horror at the prospect of a long life of guilt and torment is uncomfortably relatable.
    Maybe the best scene in the film, Chaney Jr. nails manic depression.

    @ argytunes. I agree that the song ''Faro-la Faro-li''' is a good song that works in the Festival of the New Wine scene in Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman. Lugosi's performance as the Frankenstein monster would have been better if Universal Studios had left his dialogue in the final version of the movie. It would have been a mistake for Universal studios to hire another actor to speak Lugosi's dialogue in the movie since another actor would not have had Lugosi's voice as Igor . Remember that Igor's brain was transplanted into the Frankenstein monster at the end of the movie The Ghost of Frankenstein and the Frankenstein monster has Igor's voice at the end of that movie.

I mena granted the Frankenstein and Dracula movies differ alot from the books, but they have unique visions with them and they certainly beat most of the other adaptions. You just can't get the same effects with CGI today. Back then it was all story and amazing scenes like this. I love Chaney and Adia has a great voice. One of the few Universal Songs that actually WORKED in a monster movie! It's ironic that most of the songs used in the Abbott & Costello pics are mostly forgotten, but Adia Kuznetzoff's vocals backed with full orchestra is probably the the best part of FRANKENSTEIN MEETS THE WOLFMAN! • @gigoman-hu5hm
      @gigoman-hu5hm 5 лет назад

      it's possible but you have to remember a lot of footage and sound recordings from the 1900s to 1940s were notorious for deteriorating and even catching fire so if the original recording still exists it is very likely it has deteriorated to the point were it can no longer be used without destroying it.

    This is Larry Talbot's pickup technique! A) In The Wolf Man, he accidentally sees Gwen through his father's telescope as she's putting on her earrings. Then, he picks her up, asking her to wear the earrings, saying that he's "psychic." Later, he confesses to accidentally spying on her through the telescope. B) He presents himself to the Baroness under the pretext of wanting to buy the old castle. Then, he cracks and freaks out over dinner and confesses his ulterior motives. This is basically his schtick. :)

    This magnificent scene and the posts in the comment section serve as an example of how the passage of time actually improves the appreciation for what was once considered a a filler scene in a B programmer. Modern Hollywood apparently is incapable of producing the romantic spectacle of even the lesser films made during the Golden Age of Gothic Fantasy.

    There is a subtle point made by showing the people of Vasaria celebrating the Festival of the New Wine. Their's is a pre-modern culture, centering on agriculture, traditional beliefs, and religion. Baron Frankenstein introduced advanced science into the area through his experiments, and the result ran wild, killing many innocent people. Not at all the best introduction to modernity.

    Coming up in the theatres in March..."Red Riding Hood" starring Gary Oldman. Who will turn out to be the werewolf who is terrorizing the village? Will all of us "old school" horror type have enough to keep our interest or will they go too far with the teenaged romantic angle? Mercifully, all of the old Universal films held the romance to an angle but now the film companies are trying to appeal to teen girls. (Someone needs to do a horror film in the spirit of the old Hammer Studio work!)

    Yeah I noticed that too. The SHerlok Homes movie looks INSANE. I mean it might be amusing at least, and who knows it might even be good, but it still looks a little too crazy. It's interesting how they made Watson push back a bit though. As for the Wolfman it has a great looking cast and it's kind of better to remake an old movioe than a movie only 25 years old like Nightmare on Elm St., but it doesn't look like it''ll have that eerie feel. Tired of all this "reimagining rebooting remaking" etc
