In this video I repair the rear glass that you can move up and down with your hand. The glass came off of the lower track and I show how to fix it

both of my windows had that loose metal piece that fell off the regulator the one you glued back on, I was convinced Toyota just chucked a random piece of a steel in the panel for shits and giggles since what are the odds that both of the doors were messed up. your video helped tremendously. left a $2 tip for your efforts

Thank you for making and sharing this video. I was able to fix mine; driver side rear window sliding down, does not go up with control, track came off from the window glass, I found it just like the one on this video. Not an easy fix but your video helped a lot. I was getting frustrated putting everything back together but I kept thinking how you carefully wiggle tracks and rubbers around to fit it in, and fix the problem. Thanks a lot

Thanks for this vid. Somehow my window came off the regulator; your vid showed me how to get it back on! One tip others might find useful: you can remove the window switch from the door panel and plug it back into the wiring harness if you would like to reposition your regulator. (BTW, he calls the regulator "motor" in this vid. The motor is part of the regulator which is the assembly he loosened to get the window back on the lifting arm - at about 15:00)

Thanks for your video. I had to replace a rear drivers side door window on a RAV4 and was watching how to videos, but one thing they were all missing was the removal of the window channel that you show on 12:22 to put a new window back in. After watching your video, you saved me alot of frustration

Legend. So if You still hear the motor you know that you do not need a new motor and you just need to worry about getting the glass back on the track.

Avoided removing the glass. Used a hair dryer to heat and expand the channel and then fit the glass in place within the track. This all has to be done in place, so it does require some dexterity and loosening of the motor bolts sp the end of the arm is put into the track withh temporarily power the motor to get arm in good position for the end to go back in channel. Then rettach bolts and start reassembly. Windows stays in places. Also good idea to lubrixate verticl channels with lithiun greade so the windows motor doesnt bind, whicah can also trigger the channel falling off. Toyota decided a friction fit channel would do, wasnt their best decision. Could have drilled and fitted durable plastic bolts with neoprene bumbers attached to the channel, in the glass so never comes off the track, but I guess if you seel millions of units, each piece saves you $$$, but keep mechanics in business :)

Thanks. Very well made and concise video. Spoiler alert:. I had to take a break at the 9 minute mark when you were banging on that glass with a hammer. Glad it went ok.

The exact same thing happened to my 2001 Highlander yesterday. I was able to put the rubber back on the glass and slide the metal channel over top of it without having to remove the window from the door. If you can do that, it would save you a lot of work. I didn't apply any adhesive to the rubber though. I'll see how long it lasts before it pops back out. Or maybe i'll leave the window controls locked out permanently during the winter so the kids don't open and close the window when it's really cold out lol.

Thanks so much! I just fixed my same window. Only thing I did different was to cut the black gooey sealant under the blue plastic with a razor blade as I removed it. I avoided tearing it and I was able to press it back together afterwards. Where’s the new “tip” button on the video?

I think the metal channel and rubber goes on differently, instead of using the hammer put the rubber on then slide the metal channel over it.

That loose metal piece fell off of my window on both sides in the back. I took them inside my house while I was researching how to fix. Then my house burnt down so I no longer have the parts. Does anybody know if I can buy that metal piece that glows on to the bottom of the glass?
