I remember my first day of school. I was a little shy but because of excitement I managed to remain in our class, in fact, I got along with other children easily. Being a child, I was free of worries and all I could think of was to enjoy playing with my friends at school. Gadgets of today didn't exist so in retrospect, we were more than happy enough to use our imagination in most of our activities. Then after our class, we would go to a park or have a stroll along the river.

Great! But don't forget that for stories in the past you need to use past tenses.
