Maths 69% ( I’ll do a remarking )
Physical science 66%
Business studies 90% ( it was new subject that I did only in matric )
Life sciences 84%
English FAl 81%
Isizulu home 78% ( I’ll do a remarking)
But it’s sad that in most university I was rejected by the time results came out even for nursing I guess I’ll take a gap of UWC doesn’t pull through.

I dropped out of varsity about 6 years ago. I was going through a lot and started performing poorly in my academics. I would like to one day (soon) see myself doing medicine and I am willing to start off studying a less intense course just to fix my academic record, as I qualify for some at different universities, then later on shoot my shot at MedSchool

If applications close by July - how do you get your results to the university in time because you only got your results in January of the following year?
I went and registered for writing on June and I want to write on November so even if I won't go and write on June and I register to write on November is it okay?

As long as it’s NSC or SC, they should.
Does anyone know any accredited institutions?
When we upgrade do work for 100% (without SBA mark from previous year grade 12) or 75% (with the other 25% being the SBA from previous year grader 12) during the examination
They’ll consider your SBA if it has the potential of increasing your marks but if you did well in the exams and your sba decreases your overall mark then it’s not considered

Hey Esona, I am a first year student studying BA in communications and I am planning to drop out and rather upgrade my maths marks and life science in May/Jun 2024. and study Occupational Therapy. Will getting my results in Aug not affect my application process,and for the application should I still use my grade 11 results or just use my first matric results?
Hi! So essentially what happens is you apply with your current NSC and in your application it will ask what you are currently doing, you will then choose "Re-writing" or "Improving" (something along those lines.) Then you complete your application and you will be put on a waiting list until your re-write results are released and from there the university will consider your application.
So what if your marks come back worse, do you get to keep your previous marks?

If you are repeating grade 12 from the beginning like doing term 1 to term4 but different school from prev one (public to private )and want to apply for medicine should one use their previous statement or grade 11 results to apply ? And also do they consider learners who are starting matric from the beginning
They normally ask for your most current results, which would be your matric. Some unis
like WSU don’t , but most do.
So is it possible to rewrite in the upgrading institution I registered to then when I get my results I can go to DBE to add my new results with the rest of the subjects I didn't rewrite as my new statement? Hope my question makes sense

Apparently what I was told is that for you to qualify to write in Nov you should have written in June. You're given 2 chances, if you fail in June, you still have a chance at the end of the year.

Your results will be out around August and applications normally close I think around October so you’ll be able to apply but for the following year.

It should be, just explain that that’s what you want to do when applying to upgrade so they can help you with it.
Hey if I may ask ... I'm also upgrading 4 subjects and I am planning to study BEng in civil engineering next year. Thing is I do not meet the minimum requirements.. thou I passed the two subjects ..if I apply and state that I'm upgrading will my application be considered even though I do not meet the minimum requirements?
Yeah, but call and email them to tell them your situation and when the results become available also, because some unis will consider it and some won’t

What's more important or special to rewrite on may/June exam than to rewriting on October/November exams
writing in may means you have to cover the whole years work within 5 months whereas writing in November means you have more time.
Wait , when in matric you have to apply using your g11 final results for conditional and finals of matric will solidate your spot. But now when you upgrade and writing end of year , how do you apply since it's past the health faculty deadline ? Do you apply using your current grade 12 statement or will you have have to wait yet another year before admission ?😭

You should get an sms from your school telling you your timetable is available for collection like a month before writing then they should give you more information about your exam venue upon collection of the timetable.

Different subjects or the same subjects, because you basically given a second chance not adding not subjects, if you want rewrite 4 then register 4 at once then if you fail in June you can still write in November

I applied for MBCHB last year and got rejected,I took a gap year.. applied again but still got rejected...even Rhodes rejected me for pharmacy though I got 6 in maths and 7s in physics and LFS 😔..but I got accepted for BSc at Rhodes....I would like to know if it will be possible to transfer from BSc to medicine at UP?
Yes definitely, just push your average to be above 80 to be on the safe side of things. But also that’s just for a safe bet, it’s not a guarantee. But you can get in.

No, amended is for people who are 21+ with no grade 12 nsc statement I guess, but alll I know is the June exam is NSC also you can combine it with your previous November

Affect them in what way?
No if by some means you don't write you will get those results back as they are, even if you fail, they only take the higher mark

Hi Esona, quick question what happens if you've missed the re-write application date for writing in May/June, can i still apply to rewrite in Nov/Dec? I completed matric last year, and I've had that the class of 2022 can only rewrite in Nov/Dec if they have written in May/June first.
It must be a new system they have in place, but I suggest you visit your nearest DOE or your school and try register for the November exams and have them tell you you can’t write as opposed to listening to hearsay. Otherwise you can try an upgrading college which could have different closing dates hopefully

You can. You’d just have to wait because if you rewrite in November, by then applications for med are already closed. Even if you rewrite in June, you’ll get your results in august so you’d have to rewrite, then apply the following year. So you’d rewrite this year, then apply next year for the 2026 intake🥹 but WSU won’t consider your application because they don’t consider upgrading students.
Is WSU the only University that doesn't consider upgrading students?

Hi, I managed to bump up my maths from a 3 to a 5 and my physics from a 4 to a 6 and this got me acceptance into pharmacy which then got me acceptance into medicine.

You can only combine your matric results only if you have upgraded at a different school, if you Decide to upgrade at your previous school there is no need ONLY OF YOU GOT A BACHELOR'S PASS

@@theemajesty so in the unis like UP/NMU that only show you what you qualify for I applied for whatever I could get and in the other ones that just show you everything I applied for what I wanted regardless of me not meeting the minimum requirements. Because I had hope they’d reconsider when my upgraded results became available

I applied with my first set of matric results and as soon as the upgraded ones became available in Jan I sent them through

@@jada4113 I'm really not sure buddy please ask around, I'm currently kinda in the same situation now, I submitted my application without telling them whether I want to write on June or November. I heard someone say if you write on June and not happy with your results, they will allow you to write again on November but you need to register before the end of September, remember we get those June results on July/August so you must register for November (but remember this can only be done by those who registered and wrote on June not everyone) . Basically if you don't register for November after you have written your June exams that means you are satisfied with those results and you ready to use them to apply to universities.
