This show was my first exposure to Gigantor/Tetsujin 28. And by far, its my favorite version of the series. While this show aired in the west in 1993, it actually came out in Japan back in 1980. So this show is over 40 years old now. But still, I have a LOT of fond memories of this show. It has a lot of great material, characters to latch onto, and plots that are engaging and fun to watch. To this day, many years after I was first exposed to it back in 1995, this show retains a special place in my heart.
mightydagon the sci-fi channel was cool loved all the stuff on it, but when they decided to become Sy-FY it went to shit, just like the History Channel. The only thing I liked from sy-fy now was Z Nation and that's no longer on there☠💀
I remember this Japanese anime. I used to watch it when I was younger and it was shown on TCC (The Children's Channel) in the UK 🇬🇧 and my home country Ireland 🇮🇪 in the 1990s but sadly the British children's television station TCC doesn't exist anymore and it was closed in spring of 1998 and it replaced by ViacomCBS (now known as Paramount Global)-owned Nickelodeon although Nickelodeon was first launched in the UK and Ireland in autumn of 1993. I haven't seen it for years and I haven't heard its theme song for years either.
this hasn't been released on dvd, if it was I would order it in a heart beat, loved watching this back to back with Robotech back when Sci Fi Channel had their 7am cartoon block, of course since I was living in California at the time I was getting up at 4am to watch it
They put out a few DVD and bluray box sets a while back for the 40th anniversary of the original Japanese broadcast. Before you get too excited, I should point out that 1) they're not cheap and 2) none of them have the US dub - it's subtitles or nothing, I'm afraid.
I remember this cartoon from when I was a kid in the 90's but totally forgot the theme song is the same as the original. Yes, I've seen the original :-)
And this robot even made an appearance alongside the likes of Big-O, Mazinger, Getter Robo, and Gurren Lagann, in at least a small collection of Super Robot Taisen games. Showing that it would indeed cross worlds to fight against wrong.
anyone who watched this as a kid in the 90s should probably ask their parents (probably there dad) about the series they will probably remember the original from when they where kids.
Came here to post the exact same thing. As a young kid, I didn't even know thee was an older Gigantor cartoon. (I guess I missed the "New Adventures of" part) and was very confused when I first saw clips from the original series.
Many don't know that this was the cartoon that started it all Shows: Gigantor > Voltron > Transformers > Go-Bots Toys: Gigantor > Rock'em-Sock'em Robots > Shogun Warriors
So many questions.... Okay, I grew up on the original from the '60s, so is this connected? If not, did they transition from old to new? And, is this supposed to be the same kid, Jimmy Sparks? But, if this is not Jimmy Sparks, then is this guy related to Jimmy, or just a replacement? And, if this is Jimmy Sparks, how does that work? Is he older? And, where in the bloody-fuck-nuts is the original Gigantor if this new robot is an upgrade? I'm confused!
For Gigantor I’m not sure But as Tetsujin 28, the New Adventures of Gigantor was Shin Tetsujin 28, a reimagining of the 1960s original, the kid is the same one from the 60s, but not the same version
I was thinking of what if I made a song intro about an ultra cyborg named Titano with Gigantor theme....I guess it's gonna be a pretty catchy song similar to Gigantor's intro.... Like this: 🎵Titano, Titano, Titano. Titano the ultra cyborg, he's a real hero. Titano the ultra cyborg, he's power is unknown. Faster than Metal Sonic. More powerful than Gigantor. Mightier than Giant Robo. Titano, Titano, Titano 🎵

Watched this on SciFi Channel’s Cartoon Quest back in the day. Along with Robotech, Galaxy High and Transformers G1.
Niche Retro oh yeah. Forgot about those.
Thems were the fucking days man. I loved old “sci-fi” channel
Holy shit. I watched the same. If I remember correctly, they were on in the morning. I used to watch them before I went to middle school.
So many memories
So do I. I remember this show well.
I grew up watching the original. I had no idea there was an updated version.
Neither did I. Wow
Same. I don't remember this at all.
I watched this as a kid! On the sci-fi channel lol. I'm 37 now😭

If I had a tv network and it would have a robot week this would be one of the shows I'd show
Same here. For me, this is one of the best shows Japan has given us.
Agreed
If there is an American made Gigantor cartoon I'd love to see a design similar to this one being used
