I WAS thinking about how for a Team Chaotix version of the level, they weren't picking up a *lot* of stuff up and skipping quite a few parts of the level. Making good time with it, though, it was a bitch to get that one done under 6 minutes.

same man, i just vibe with jehtt’s content! like almost every video of his between “you’re a beta male, sonic” and “sonic is dead” in particular is absolutely golden (though there have been plenty of gems before and after that period)
i actually have thought about this in-depth! Sonic characters such as vector interacting with a crocodile, is no different than us interacting with a monkey, so vector isnt "Crocodylus acutus", the american crocodile, hes "Crocodylus sapiens" a sapient crocodilian derived from other crocodiles. Same is true for all other characters, aside from charmy who is probably derived from a cephalopod and not a bee considering his larger, more advanced "vertebrate-esque" eyes, I'll speculate that hes derived from a bigger squid like the humboldt squid, thus making him "Dosidicus sapiens"
You threw me for *a loop* with this, because I was reading this and thinking, "Yeah, unless you're in the Sonic movie where they're just straight up extraterrestrial, so none of- *I'm sorry,* you think Charmy is a *what* now??" Now I'm gonna think way too much about that, because I get *wayyy* too nerdy about taxonomy.
I've always seen Froggy as a mindless frog that Big keeps as a pet, but sees as his buddy. (Let's face it- Big's not the sharpest hook in the fishing shed!) Though the best evidence for that is probably Froggy's erratic behaviour when he's possessed, and that's a bit of a flimsy base... but I still like the idea of Big overestimating Froggy's intelligence and fondness for him.
I would also like to add that the non-sapient animals are ginormous (or are the Chaotix just tiny?) and the anthropomorphic animals (Team Chaotix, here) are not to scale with their counterparts. For example, Charmy would be much, much smaller than Espio and especially Vector... oh, and he wouldn't have a nose, or atleast his "nose" would be on the side, in-between his thorax and abdomen... A lot of layers here. Not to mention how the animals in Eggmans robots are non-sapient, but also sort of sapient, and again, not to scale with the corresponding species, yet still look like they fit in Sonic's world, then you have the non-sapient animals in THIS level who have a more realistic looking appearance, anatomy, and proportions comparatively. I don't even want to go into how the creepy ghosts in the Sonic universe work either. I don't know how to explain that, however, there is a sliding scale to anthropomorphism, like Oolong from Dragon Ball would be on a different tier from the Sea Turtle of the same series. Vector was right, it's best not to think too hard about this stuff.

I always thought the "anthro" Sonic characters were kinda different compared to "normal" animals, hence why they don't have the same behaviors (this is the same franchise where a fox is a hedgehog's best friend, after all).

I don't know why but this exact characterization of Team Chaotix is so great. They talk like actual teammates who know each other for long time and every line actually corresponds to character's personality, like, Vector could say that canonically. I don't mind watching an entire show where they are just interact with each other in similar fashion.

I would also like to add that the non-sapient animals are ginormous (or are the Chaotix just tiny?) and the anthropomorphic animals (Team Chaotix, here) are not to scale with their counterparts. For example, Charmy would be much, much smaller than Espio and especially Vector... oh, and he wouldn't have a nose, or atleast his "nose" would be on the side, in-between his thorax and abdomen... A lot of layers here. Not to mention how the animals in Eggmans robots are non-sapient, but also sort of sapient, and again, not to scale with the corresponding species, yet still look like they fit in Sonic's world, then you have the non-sapient animals in THIS level who have a more realistic looking appearance, anatomy, and proportions comparatively. I don't even want to go into how the creepy ghosts in the Sonic universe work either.
I don't know how to explain that, however, there is a sliding scale to anthropomorphism, like Oolong from Dragon Ball would be on a different tier from the Sea Turtle of the same series.

He's a full-grown adult bee (which is accurate since male bees are born full size practically, if he was born that way, that is) who is somehow also a child and ages like a human would, taking in account timelines or how some characters just stay the same age forever to us out of universe.

I always thought the "anthro" Sonic characters were kinda different compared to "normal" animals, hence why they don't have the same behaviors (this is the same franchise where a fox is a hedgehog's best friend, after all).

I don't know why but this exact characterization of Team Chaotix is so great. They talk like actual teammates who know each other for long time and every line actually corresponds to character's personality, like, Vector could say that canonically.
