    I just got this tape and am going to put it on a Carbon Frame.
    Is the application different on Carbon? (couldn't tell if yours was Carbon)

    • @ChildrenOfTheLoam
      @ChildrenOfTheLoam  4 года назад

      It's no different than aluminum.

      @@ChildrenOfTheLoam Thanks! I just put it on my Toptube. I did the best I could but do have some air bubbles.
      Next is the downtube. Do you think it's durable enough, I was thinking about getting something more durable such as a rubber piece. I'm putting this on a Ripmo. Maybe Ibis sells something for the downtube. I'll have to check.

    • @ChildrenOfTheLoam
      @ChildrenOfTheLoam  4 года назад

      @@NDemanuele1 it will protect from scratches and dings but not big impacts so I would go with a downtube guard if you can find one.

    I find 3M helicopter tape 14mill to be the best. Maximum protection and form-able. Anything thicker is tough to work with. I get mine off of EBAY. Some people sell it by the foot. Two things though.....read the fine print and make sure you get the CLEAR tape....made the mistake once of getting grey once. Also....VERY important... make sure
    the tape you buy is not to old....AFTER I bought some that did not stick well and was slightly yellow....I found out it had expired 10 years earlier. Get fresh

    Great idea thanks for the tutorial, I wanna try this on my bike... I’m having trouble finding the matte tape you mentioned on amazon. Would you mind linking the matte tape as well or letting me know where else I could find it??? ***DISREGARD my question, just saw someone else asked the same thing in the comment.

    I'm looking for frame protectors bit this is an inexpensive alternative. Does It come off just in case you want to replace it?

    • @ChildrenOfTheLoam
      @ChildrenOfTheLoam  5 лет назад

      Yes, it typically comes off with no residue but any that does appear can be cleaned off fairly easily.

    • @sageweiss5954
      @sageweiss5954 5 лет назад

      It does as he said, but if you are having a little trouble getting the tape off, just use a blow dryer/heat gun on the lowest setting and just heat it up slightly. Should come off very easily.

    I see a couple different widths. You linked 2 inch but I see 4 and 6 inch widths too. Would 4 inch work better?? Thoughts?

    • @ChildrenOfTheLoam
      @ChildrenOfTheLoam  4 года назад

      Just go with what you think would fit your bike best

    • @takeit1229
      @takeit1229 4 года назад +2

      Upside for 2 inches is it will fit most bike frames without much cutting (easy straight lines)
      Upside for 4 inches is it will fit wider areas, so buy it if you have a frame wider than 2 inches.
      One caution the tape does not go around (in a circle) the tube well in my experience, must use separate pieces for top and bottom.
