100 Days in Minecraft Beta 1.7.3

- I've never done a 100 Days in Minecraft video before, let alone in Minecraft Beta 1.7.3, and I can say vehemently that it is harder than it looks. The amount of time that goes into the world, the script you have to write after, even the editing of the clips together from the copious amounts of raw footage, it all takes a certain kind of dedication which I've forced myself to gain over this last month.
This video combines this format with my love of what many call The Golden Age of Minecraft: Beta 1.7.3, and I hope you all enjoy the Beta 1.7.3 world tour and this nostalgic take on the 100 Days format...
I promised myself to get this video out before the end of 2023, and as I'm writing this description the morning of its release, I can safely say it was a very close call indeed. I'll see you all next year!

Lol that reminds me of the old trends of minecraft.
Plane crash survival maps and jungle survival, or that prison map that countless people used and made series on and went on to be skydoesminecraft's main map for his cops and robbers series.

Edit: I just thought about it. When I was on the flans mod server all those years back; a player today was born when i was playing and now they are playing minecraft.
That really makes me feel old, and that I'm no longer a kid.
@@PrestonGarvey69 those survival maps were awesome, I remember the ant farm, the plane crash, Skyblock and skygrid. Just like any survival world but with some extra missions. I wish that trend comes back

I remember when nether was as dark as a basement and you had to bring torches to see and navigate. the game had really much ups and downs in some time its really cool to see how much the game changed

I’m so glad there are still people who want to truly enjoy Minecraft in the way that I personally feel it should’ve always been played. I don’t want to rush everything to beat my friends I want to make a beautiful world in my own time.
I randomly got the urge to play 1.7.3 like 3 days ago. I'm building a house in the side of a hill over a lake. I keep seeing people playing old minecraft more recently.
the b1.7.3 community is actually crazy how creative they are. look up "b1.7.3 world tour" on youtube and just see the massive builds these people have done in such a barebones version of minecraft

Just turned 23 and this is the version I was playing back in 5th grade.

25:00 Actually this was a feature in Minecraft for the longest time, if you didn't have a room fully enclosed (typically underground) and you tried to sleep, a mob would spawn, interrupting your sleep.

ive been playing BTA for a while now and its been the most fun ive had with the game in years
Me too. It's a great mix of the simplicity of old Minecraft combined with some quality of life upgrades and a few new surprises.
I also love that it doesn't have the distracting annoyances I don't like in new Minecraft like phantoms, villagers, too many structures, Endermen greifing the world until all the dirt blocks have holes everywhere...

5:19 Nope, you’re not the only one. I have to mentally prepare myself for it and anticipate it as the durability of the tool wanes and even in doing that when it breaks I always jump. Scares the shit out of me every time 😂
Scares me more than the cave sounds or creepers.
Sometimes I avoid it by making the replacement tool early and then use a little bit of durability on that and combine them for the little bit of bonus durability

Even though Minecraft has changed so much and had a lot of very bad updates, there’s something so great in seeing the game that you loved when you were a little be practically the same years later

This was unironically so beautiful. I felt like I was watching the old minecraft videos I grew up with but also with the modern sophistication of the 100 days format. I'm probably gonna watch this video over and over until you continue. Maybe you could even make a series out of it and compile them for the next hundred days video :)

Absolutly loved this video. A beautiful mix of fast and slow paced storytelling. RUclips is so full of creators who spend most of their time screaming and just jump-cutting through the entire video, it's so refreshing to listen to a nice calm voice - that still enjoys the occational joke - leading through this journey. Old Minecraft seems to have a hidden impact on the way we behave inside the game. Our approach to building and how we enjoy the game itself changes and is part of the reason why so many people are drawn to this older version of the game. Because it compels you to be creative and build structures to fulfil some fantasy compared with fulfilling some task of gathering the best items like enchanted armour etc, simply because there are no special items in this version of the game.

There's something so warm and nostalgic seeing what other can build in Beta MC, with just the dozen block types we were given back then.
Most builds in modern MC are designed to be complex and look a lot more "busy" compared to the builds you'd get from Beta MC, where you'd see some variation in the block choices, but not by a lot like you see today. I feel like MC was great when it was simplistic. Sure I love current MC, but Beta always fills me with a much warmer glow and I'm always more interested in seeing player builds in MC than I am current MC.

You get nightmares (Getting woken up by a mob) in beta 1.7.3 not by your light level, but if the nearby 2 blocks around the bed are blocks which mobs can spawn on. Which means there was most likely an empty set of blocks behind the wall that allowed monsters to spawn.

When I saw the thumbnail, I gasped a little. Beta 1.7.3 was the first ever Minecraft version I've ever played, and seeing you do things I struggled with as a kid did put a smile on my face. Amazing video, from the builds to even the comedic typos in the script.

Bro I wanna see 200 days cuz the only thing that makes this version playable is that you don’t focus on progress more rather thinking about what to build next to make your world looks better than it was hours before, the stone slabs prolly carried the entire old Minecraft building community and tbh this one stone slabby block is the icon of this version… looking forward more 100 days as it’s insanely good to watch especially when I am 10 years old (experienced) player I mean I played this game for over 10 years (now I’m close to 20 years old) I feel like this is how Minecraft should be played unlike thinking which type of stone you gonna use to make mega underground base in 1.20.4 it’s like bro I have oak wood and stone slabsans couple of torches, about to make masterpiece build that will never look bad no matter what matierials you will use.

this was such a good video to binge, even though I started playing Minecraft on 1.8.8 seeing the older textures and all the small things and the only 5 biome'd world is somehow more nostalgic to me more than 1.8.8 itself not only that but your soothing voice made video even better besides the relaxing gameplay. Tho I'd like to say, I do not wanna see more of this world, I wanna see more of Beta 1.7.3 but making this world just a stand alone 100 days video with no continuation is gonna make it more important and special in my opinion, cuz as it's intented, it's gonna be just a trip down memory lane, a small thing to remember not a thing to lach onto.

Started at beta 1.6.6.
Then I had like a decade break from the game I think. Or more?
Anyhow I got back to Minecraft a week ago and I am completely mind blown. Quite an experience I must say, amazing how much stuff has been added.
I stopped playing Minecraft in 2016 ish, I recently tried revisiting it a few months ago and I honestly hated it.
Servers were way over the top and in your face with 100 different plug ins, and single player felt like I had 30 different mods permanently installed into my world that I didn’t want.
Old servers I used to play on either no longer existed or they looked like they sold their soul to a corporation to make the most money possible.
It’s a shame… I was a Beta player and I miss those days, but I’m glad I was able to be a part of it.

25:10 I’m pretty this is happening because there is a cave somewhere below the bed. I remember having this problem once back on an early Xbox 360 version of Minecraft (which was basically Beta 1.6.6).

I remember discovering Minecraft back in 2010 from a series called "x's adventures in minecraft" I am not sure if anyone here has heard of it but every world I've had since then I would always create the famous "X Skylight 9000" and the Greenhouse david would build. Good times. This video is making me want to relive the alpha and old beta versions of Minecraft again lol.
