Cmon lumafusion, let’s get back our dominance in the mobile editing market. I’m tired of transporting my projects to CapCut to add other basic features such as autocaptions, effects, filters etc. I love Lumafusion but it’s sad that the development has gotten behind the other mobile editing tools.
Great video! I use LumaFusion for all my editing work, and of course I bought the speed ramping add-on. I like the app, and it can handle 4K 10-bit video with no problem on the new M4 iPad Pro. Also a big fan of one time purchase and no subscription model. But I really feel the app needs a big upgrade on the text and title part. It is so outdated and looks very unprofessional.
I love lumaFusion for its efficiency but I do the titles in FinalCut Pro which is a shame. LumaFusion needs to be able to import SRT files so that the titles can be timed with the words. Even better it needs to do the who automatic titles thing. And they need to have more modern looking presets.
Heavy duty Premiere Pro user who has picked LumaFusion up recently. Oh how beautiful this app is for “on the go” film production. Does everything I need on the iPhone, and speed ramping is perfect. Not the easiest UI to get your head around for the first few days but for the price I’m blown away. Thanks for this review!
I think the way they designed easing for speed ramping is amazing and I appreciate that it’s more powerful than what you can find on other mobile apps or most desktop apps :D
Great video! I’m really liking your channel. Yes, I love this business model of purchasing the upgrades if we want and not being forced into a subscription.
Color correction disappears during speed changing because you are changing a fundamental property of a footage so you get shown the source clip and not the color corrected one which is applied on top of that. So it’s not a bug I believe.
Nicely presented and very informative! I agree that the “Free” stuff is very useful. I did pay for the Speed Ramping… I’ve noticed the shortcomings you mentioned, but for now I’m learning to live with them. You’re correct… the Key Frame Editor is GREAT. Thanks for your presentation👍👍!
Speed ramping is good for Luma finally but they still restrict us with 6x constant speed. Bit frustrating. I solve this with other apps but that is not a good solution to me. For example when you have a long drone footage, 6x stays little bit slow. And i want 3d text tracking feature very much from Luma like pro apps do
Thanks for another excellent review. I have a love/hate relationship with Luma. Part of my problem is I don't edit many videos (lots of photography using LR and Photoshop etc. - and love to do editing on the iPad and finish later on the iMac - e.g. LRM and LR). As I don't do video editing often I have to work out, to a degree how, to use Luma when I use it. What I'd really like is an iPad app that's decently featured, that's intuitive, and I can sync with OSX and finish there. BTW I do own Final Cut Pro on the iMac! What I don't want though is have to spend a lot of time learning new app(s). Maybe I'll stop grumbling and muddle my way through Luma!
I’m just starting out with LumaFusion after having purchased it when it was around $20 awhile ago. This video really helps! I do have a question about the effects panel and the distort and gains windows. Tapping them doesn’t seem to do anything. How do you use those? Also it seems like this speed ramping feature should have been included in such a robust app. And as for your “complaint” about the timeline not being accessible In the edit screen I agree. I can see where they can be overlayed to show the end result of your editing in realtime but in a lowered opacity as to not get in there way. 😃
Great video/review of LumaFusion 5.0 and Speedramp option. I have only had update a couple days and it functionally seems to work ok on my iPad Pro, but not flawlessly. I have had it "hang up" loading; after closing down and reopen it seems to work. I personally feel that they have tried to do "too much" with upgrade. I had been looking forward to a simple "speedramp" option. It is not simple - made it far more complicated than need be. (my opinion - and only one that counts to me). I also was looking for a much more powerful speedramp (faster than 6X). I have figured a "work around", by editing and saving the ramped clip (reopen and apply again) - to obtain much faster speeds. To have to do that is a big disappointment to me. I have no issue with the one time optional upcharge (a comparatively modest charge). In fact I like it! They have opted not for the subscription type model; which I would immediately reject had they gone that route. I am sure that I will learn and get use to the new options, but again does seem somewhat overly complex.
Are the advance key framing tools only for speed ramping or are they available to use outside of it as well? I do a lot of key frame animating to switch between images of an illustrated avatar and I find the key framing in FCP for iPad severely limiting, it’s hard to have fun with timing and such so I’ve been on the hunt for an app with proper ease in and ease out. Also being able to save presets haha
The update is appreciated. However , overall LumaFusion is behind other mobile editing apps when it comes to modern features . There’s a lady there who may be head of design, I don’t remember exactly, who says she believes they should not copy from others. That’s a bad idea because we don’t get features that help us do editing fast and easier. She needs to change that mind set and let the team be more innovative or leave that role. She’s a hindrance to progress.
The idea that “we don’t want to copy other programs” is especially stupid when the “copying” in question is just adding standard features. Rn there’s no reason to buy lumafusion over just paying for a subscription to alight motion and getting unlimited layers, speedramping, masking, effects, lust, etc.
I absolutely agree with you, I’ve had LumaFusion from the start. They used to release long drawn out videos describing the new updates… and she would put one to sleep..(sorry, but it’s true).. The App was always way behind ‘pro’ grade apps, but the attraction for me was ease of use and ‘mostly’ reliability, but there were periods when it was quite erratic… Rather like now.. I updated and it’s a nightmare. I have to close and reopen the app after nearly every minor edit! I also have DaVinci resolve installed, if this goes on much longer I’ll switch over full time.
I wish FCPX had a good key framing setup like Luma fusion. Maybe it’s just the way I learned to do key framing but I. cant tell where my keyframes are at in FCPX. It’s very confusing. Luma Fusion has always had a solid Keyframe “manager” and for a mere $20 it really takes it to the next level. I like just adding things on when I need it. It’s a good model. I’ve got about $120 sunk into Luma Fusion since I’ve started using it about 5 years ago. Most of that is Story Blocks. What I do with speed ramping instead of switching back and forth with a shortened clip is just make my speed ramp cut the way I want it, and work that section of video around it to make it work in the time line. There are various things you can do to make that happen.
Thanks Jenn, informative video. At The moment I'm on the fence whether to buy this "plugin", It's only €20.00 but I'm not sure if I need it yet. As I haven't used it as yet, I was also unaware that the Timeline leaves a gap if you speed up a clip, it's logical but I had just never thought about it. The "Add-on" model itself is a good way to go imo, only buying the improvements or changes that you really need is consumer friendly. ;-)
I love the new speed ramp in LumaFusion, and I wish Apple would adopt something like this. I fins speed ramping in FCP a bit of a pain in the bootie. Hell it is easier to speed ramp in the photos app on my iPhone than in FCP.

I was thinking the same thing .
The title and text are so old school.
Feel like I’m in high school.
Really hope they update them

Agree 100%, at this point the title options are grossly outdated!
Love the business model. Would say it’s a perfect one. Hope people continue to support Luma.

Very informative. I enjoy the instructions.
Great review. Answered all my questions.
I hope to add text effects and video filters like other programs

Great video🤟
Fantastic video. Well executed. How does LumaFusion compare to CapCut Pro?
Many thanks Jen. I don't use LumaFusion (cranky old iPad) but useful and interesting to see what other companies are developing.

3d tracking would be so freaking nice and such a game changer.
Hello Jenn. Love the channel. i have LumaFusion and have the export to XML (for FCP). Do you know if speed ramping is present in the XML export?

can we create multiple timelines in luma fusion or duplicate timelines to make alternate versions?
Worth the $20 for the work they put in, and its not a subscription

Can someone tell me how to upload a video to a different youtube channel? Or keeps uploading it to the same channel.
When comes this update for Android

I like Luma, however some basic features on Capcut or VN make me little bit sad about Luma. They stay too slow

@@cotyoran0652 really? Capcut? It's a total amateurish program.

Does luma fusion allows you to export the final video in 10 bit colors or does it cap it to something lower than what the original footage was?
It makes it. I tried with Osmo Action 4 camera, i added transformation LUT and i got good results as export
Can you share which font you use for your thumbnail? Where to buy it?
It's called Junegull- I think it just came with my Mac.
@@JennJager Do you do your thumbnails with FCPX?
Now I agree, luma must change the open windows thing. About v5; no animation ? No new text? If you make the count, finalcut iPad is better

Yeah, I feel like you really can’t argue with this model. It seems very fair.
Just use resolve.
I am no fan of any subscription Model. I love luma fusion approach. Only pay once for the service you need and that’s it.

No, its not worth it. Capcut is way better and cheaper.
I hate these kind of clickbaiting titles. You do so as if we were dumb. Why should't we upgrade. There is no reason to do it not. Stupid question.
