I tried Lumafusion when I got my iPad Pro and was quite impressed. However, since I was already invested in Davinci Resolve on desktop (I purchased the Studio version and also the Speed Editor), it made sense for me to jump ship to Davinci on iOS too. I’m certain it will be updated before very long to (officially) show all the pages, and the ease of going back and forth between platforms in the editing process makes it a no-brainer here. Thanks for the video.

Great video, I’ve been using LumaFusion since it came out and have been using Final Cut Pro on my Mac for easily over a decade. For those who don’t know, Lumafusion has an in app purchase that lets you export xlm files and import them into FCP for the desktop which works pretty well, it’s not 100% when it comes to blend modes but the cuts are all there. I think one of the biggest differences not mentioned in your video is that Lumafusion also works on the IPhone, which was never a big deal for me until it was. I’m not a big fan on using my IPhone for editing video but I was in a situation where I HAD to edit and upload some footage for a client at the last minute and I was able to do it using Lumafusion on my IPhone, it felt very cramped but I was still able to get it done. I’m going to sit Final Cut Pro for the IPad out for now until I can edit from my external T7 hard drive like I can with Lumafusion

I use LumaFusion since its inception. And will remain a LumaFusion user for the following reasons:
    1. One time fee. No annual subscriptions.
    2. Edit thru external drive eliminate the need for huge data storage on iPad is a huge plus.
    3. Multi cam is super easy to sync and edit.
    4. Multiple scopes make color grading a breeze.

    Hi Jenn,
Great comparison. I'd like to add a frustration with audio, I found during Multicam, which is how each uses it. In LumaFusion, I can designate which track is the audio, on the top of the Multicam synchronizer box. Then, as you edit through on the Switcher, the audio stays seamlessly on just one track. In FCP for iPad, each selection of angles, clips the audio, and there is not a way to detach audio, yet. I actually can hear the cuts in my audio, when the angles change, even though I'm 'soloing' a track. I'm hoping that will change with future updates. LumaFusion also allows for up to 6 different camera angles to be used, and FCP for iPad, only 4 (so far).
I totally agree with you when it comes to titles, as I've always found issues with LumaFusion having such simplistic titles. I have learned how to edit by key-framing, but, what a pain!
Again, great job, and thank you for doing the dirty work for us!

So far I’ve been disappointed in the iPad version. I bought a new iPad just for this and it hasn’t been worth it. The lack of plugins so far makes it unusable to me. Lumafusion letting me build and safe presets has always been good. I call it FIRST CUT PRO, so far it’s only good for a rough cut. The titles stink. Apple makes it hard to edit off external drives on FCP on Macs too. They probably won’t put that external drive editing feature on FCP on iPad. The project on that if you do the external drive route on Mac takes up space on that like crazy, run out, you’re buying a new drive every time. I get rid of that problem by using Premiere Pro. They only crappy thing about Premiere Pro is the $20/month subscription fee to Adobe every month to use it. No files ever gets on my Mac as a result and I have a ton of storage on the computer still. LumaFusion runs on Macs now too as long as you have the M1 of newer chip in the system. I used it a few times and it works like it does on iPads. Use a mouse and keyboard instead of touch. No files clogging up storage on the Mac either using it since you can do external drive editing on that.

I agree. Plus, learning a new interface is such a hassle. I own FC on Mac, and I don’t want to get a subscription for my iPad. Since I currently only have my iPad, LF it is 🤷🏽‍♀️😊

I like the simplicity of Final Cut, and the drawing aspect is really nice too. It’s a subscription but that doesn’t mean it’s bad. It just means the app will continue getting support

I have already bought FCP once, I will not rent it. They can go to hell.
LumaFusion is where it’s at for me. Final Cut can get bent.

All I know is Lima Fusion sucked with its weird editing strategy. I have the full version but never used it seriously. So hope Final Cut cuts it, but I have an idea that it’s the limitation of iOS and timeline implementation.
