Really enjoyed the vid, the only thing I would say is that all the seats in first do recline. was really good of them to whip you up a breakfast lol, thanks for the vid once again
OMG, My bad, I couldn't work it out, I felt a bit like a duck out of water in first class .. I didn't want to ask! The breakfast was absolutely lovely! I was impressed! Fry up is always awesome but at 125mph even better :)
@@throughlucyslensI felt the same way when I went first class for the first time in September as part of my journey to Disneyland Paris. They come to you as if they will give you the world and yet you think it's wrong to ask them anything. Interesting though that you didn't get a physical menu. On my journey from Manchester to London in both directions I got one.
@@dansrandomvideos2515 YES .. I felt scared to ask for anything in case they thought I was being annoying - that might say more about my lack of experience doing anything "first class" and being more of a muck in kinda person. Having worked with the public my whole life though the last thing you want to do is annoy someone who has a similar job .. you know how crappy customers can make you feel .. but regardless they should offer what they promote!
Great video! I've done 1st class on Avanti on a Saturday when they've had offers on from Preston to Sandwell And Dudley travelling to see my Mum. Weekends you get drinks and sandwiches. The seats are very comfortable. They don't seem to do offers anymore now they have standard premium coaches which are 1st class seats only and no food. Usually £15 each way so up to the individual traveller. If I was travelling long distances like London to Glasgow or Edinburgh I'd seriously consider it. 👍
Yes! Proper comfy seats and lovely and quiet. Thanks so much. Totally agree with you on the premium seats - I don't really understand the deal on those, but if I was going up to Scotland I think the premium seats are 100% worth the upgrade.
I'm forever and from London from Liverpool for work and AWC is pretty good. They've pulled back the level of service to where VTWC had it. Why first class? It provides comfort and convenient meals on the go on what are long working days when you add the travel time.
@@throughlucyslens The breakfasts are excellent and I've usually been up 4 hours by the time it gets served (as I've got to get the first train into Liverpool), so it's most welcome.
That breakfast looks ok...better than LNER who a couple of years ago gave us Beef stew at 10.30hrs...not particularly appetising...got the same on our return a few days later on the 14.30hr from Waverley...be interesting see if Avanti continue that when the 800s enter service..?
BEEF STEW? Omg I actually laughed out loud at that! I hope they do, it was really tasty and felt kind of "premium" having something cooked for you on a train - even if it was just a fried egg!
1st class should mean just that. Not 1st class part of the way and if there is a specific service or benefit due to purchasing a 1st class ticket, it should be provided - if not then a percentage of the fare must be refunded. No 1st class carriage on the first leg , no need to charge for it. Birmingham onward was 1st class, although no special lounges for your use - refund as they didn’t keep their side of the deal. Return was abysmal no breakfast, No service awful.
I watched a RUclips video about a chap who took a first class train in India, and it was a sleeper. The distance was nearly 900 miles. He had a compartment to himself and the cost of the first house booking, entitled him to private lounges at any of the stations and they will all open and well equipped with free food and drink and also breakfast on the train and lunch and dinner later and plenty of drinks during the day consisting of soft drinks, tea or water. The total cost was £51.
@@peterstratten3087 Wow!! Indian railways fascinate me, and you are right, I watch a lot of videos about train journeys outside of the UK and it's often a bit of a embarrassment how poor (and expensive) our "premium" offerings are in comparison. On my trip I felt like you were paying a premium for peace and quiet - but on a busy service you wouldn't even get that!
There is something special about having a meal on a train and even better having someone cook it for you.😊🍽👨🍳
100% :)

@@throughlucyslens well I mean of course they should. Otherwise what are you paying extra for?

The Class 323 on West Midlands Railway are soon to be replaced by the Class 730/0 and the Class 323 to be cascaded to Northern.
Ohhh interesting! I will look out for the change and look forward to trying them out. Thanks Andrew!

Certainly enjoyed the convenience of not having to think about meals when out and about (and the breakfast was really lovely!)
