    “This is about more than our politics and our laws this is about who we are and how we carry ourselves,” said Donald Dewar Scotland’s then first minister.
    The parliament has quickly become established in the life of Scotland, but how much has it actually achieved?

    The Scottish people voted by 62% to stay in the EU.
    The Scottish parliament voted by 69-59 in favour of IndyRef2.
    The SNP had it in there election manifesto that if there is a significant change such as Scotland being forced out of the EU then there should be another independence referendum. The SNP won that election.
    Westminster has ignored the Scottish people, the Scottish parliament and the Scottish government.
    In an independent Scotland the Scottish people would be governed by the government that they vote for and not be governed by the government that another country voted for.

      "Indy ref 2" would be an insult to the Scottish people. It would be the equivalent of saying: "You got things wrong the first time round." It would also be rejecting the faith and loyalty the Scottish people had displayed to the rest of the country in the first referendum. It would be self-defeating, and frankly stupid, for the Goverment to support such a thing.
      It is untrue to say that "Westminster" has ignored the Scottish people, as there was referendum in 2014.
      Also a very high proportion of "Westminster" IS Scottish. Scottish, or Scottish decended people, have a far greater chance of reaching hiigh office than people from the rest of the country.
      A Scotland seperated from the rest of the country would not be independent at all. It would just be seperate. Only through Brexit can we be independent, as independence means being free from FOREIGN control. English, Welsh and Irish people are not foreign.

      @@bossendenwoodconvict no, its not an insult, its something that shows our determination by standing up and trying again, even when the country that controls you is still annoying and bliddy ignorant of ur struggles. Faith and loyalty? to what? England? ive nothing against the English but oh boy... any Faith and loyalty i had to the English was snapped up when Theresa and Bojo tried to take the prime minister position. Why would it be self-defeating? what are they defeating? that argument makes no sense as you do not explain why it is stupid or self-defeating at all.
      the person you argue against is only mentioning after the referendum, you should realise that just because Westminister helps us once doesnt mean they will do again. also, Scottish descended people??? WHATS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN???!!
      "oh, wow you got into the High office thats amaz- OH WAIT YOUR GRANDFATHER WAS SCOTTISH!! I CANT BELIEVE THE BAWBAGS DOON IN ENGLAND GOT A LOAD A YOU YA CUNT!! YOU ARE BASICALLY A SSCOTTISH PERSON AT THIS POINT I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW...."
      wow, and a UK seperated from the EU is a totally different matter? well, it is. Scotland right now is not considered a country, maybe not even half that because of its service to England and the crown and all that shite. if it leaves, it would be more independent than the UK is right now, which is having its NHS being pulled from right under its feet! And anyway, what makes a French person more foreign than a Welsh or Irish person? NONE. YA want tae think that German people are foreign when we can't even understand the poltics that English politicians give us, giving money to a ferry company with no ferries??? you think that English people aren't foreign? well, let me tell you- a person from any other country, no matter what country that is, is foreign. If they grow up in a country or the live in a country for a certain amount of time, many people would say that that person is from that country. That they are not foreign. Why would anyone from the UK be any different?

    Since devolution, the Scots have demonstrated that they are reasonably content with the present political situation - they voted to stay in the UK in 2014 and they voted to stay in the EU in 2016. However, for reasons best known to them, the English and Welsh electorate decided to disrupt this state of equilibrium by voting for brexit. So the Scots have now been told that they can't be both in the UK AND in the EU - it is only fair, therefore, that they are offered a second independence referendum to decide whether they wish to remain affiliated to Westminster or Brussels or neither. If Westminster decides to stand in the way of this, it will only serve to strengthen the resolve of those seeking independence, and inadvertently increase their number. London is now in serious danger of losing Scotland in the 21st century, just as it lost the bulk of Ireland in the 20th century.

      Your way of thinking is very Scottish centric. We in England didn’t vote for brexit to upset the Scots. You guys are telling us that we either have to choose between being affiliated with both Scotland and Brussels or neither, it works both ways and it’s not really right to act like we did it to upset the Scots... we did it in our own interest.

    Why do people seriously believe that leaving a devolved union of 4 to join a closing union of 27 will give you a better “voice”?? From my side of the boarder it appears that the SNP have this obsession of Scotland’s voice not being heard, of being down trodden by Westminster. Nothing could be further from the truth. Scotland’s voice in parliament is massively disproportionate to the number of people being represented. Also, this obsession of never voting for a Tory government but you always end up with one anyway. Does it ever occur to Scots that if they vote SNP your practically voting Tory as well. Labour cannot win an election without Scotland, it’s virtually impossible. So why do some Scots moan about the Tories when it’s them who are virtually guaranteeing the Tory victories?!

    • @scottishbombolini7794

      Scotland in the EU has a veto, Scotland in the UK has no veto... in the EU we have a voice, in the UK we are ignored.

    • @ParaplegicSloth
      @ParaplegicSloth 4 года назад +2

      wow, a totally delusional statement. Scotland has no veto in the EU. You don't need one in the UK because you have your own government, which is more than what the English get. Finished off with the typical SNP obsession/delusion that Scotland is not listened to. In this instance I wish Scotland was not listened to. Because Brexit would already be done and dusted with a deal. Instead, the SNP are determined to induce no deal in order to provide provocation for another independence referendum. Which by their own admission in 2014 would not occur again for another 30-40 years. Opportunistic, backstabbing liars.

    • @scottishbombolini7794
      @scottishbombolini7794 4 года назад +1

      So don't vote Blue Tory, vote Red Tory instead, no thanks played that game for too long. Here is an idea why don't the English keep voting tory and getting the Government they choose and let us Scots vote for whoever we want, so we get our choice of Government. Simple. It's not the job of Scots to prop up a Labour party that's not fit for purpose.
      Have you any idea of how low the standing of Labour is up here? why do you think that is?
      Scotland has 59 MPs, the SNP got 56 of those seats and the Tories and Labour MPs voted together to dictate how the new powers that were promised in the final days of the 2014 referendum, would be curtailed.
      Scotland would NEVER get its Independence without the heroic ability of the main UK parties to screw things up.

    • @ParaplegicSloth
      @ParaplegicSloth 4 года назад +2

      @@scottishbombolini7794 I mean we can agree on a few points here, Labour are a joke and do not deserve to be in government. My point was you can't moan about the British government when it's typically Scotland that is the king maker. Secondly, I hope you do vote to leave. It'll be a sad day in some respects but I'm personally sick of all the special treatment that Scotland gets. It's bad enough that you get things like free prescriptions and no university fees. But it's an absolute pisstake that it's the English tax payer footing the deficit bill because Scotland can't afford it all. I'd love all the free shit you get. I'd also love an English government like Scotland has.

      The English taxpayer is not paying for much these days, have you seen the national debt/deficit..and when we Scots leave, we will remind one and all that it's NOT our pound so not our debt( stupid scots it's the bank of England) god that's going to come back to bite. ps, when did anyone say there wouldn't be another vote for 20 to 30 years? that's bullshit, good chance there will be an Indyref September next year.

    This is a turning point for Britain it won't be called the United Kingdom anymore as Scotland will soon be Independent, N Ireland will soon join Ireland so Wales and England will have to be called rUK (rest of the UK) or little Britain.
