From listening to Mannys choking story: just a reminder for those who don't know, there are ways to do the heimlich maneuver on yourself! Place your fist above your navel, grasping that fist with your other hand then lean over a chair or countertop. Then drive your fist towards yourself in an upward thrust, using the chair or counter top to help push against your stomach. Google it to see a demonstration. You never know when you'll need it, it's important to know. :) I was in a CPR class a while back and remember them telling us about it.

Ok I’ve heard of Alix but never watched her. I paused the video and went to go see. She’s real, that’s why everyone loves her. Within a few videos you see the appeal. I think that’s what everyone misses in the world of social media. Perfection is boring and not reality. She’s a normal, REAL, funny, gorgeous, college student. I dig her. I also love that she shares when she gets Botox or lip filler. Long gone are the days of influencers “just” becoming beautiful and denying or ignoring the elephant in the room. Transparency is a beautiful thing so that we don’t set unrealistic beauty standards. I love it.

the first time I heard about Alix was when a beauty youtuber did a video recreating her makeup look from tik tok. to be honest, I think her becoming an IT girl is people trying to cling to the past idealization in media with blond, blue eyed thin girls who are pretty. for example, Paris Hilton, Pamela Anderson, victoria secret angels etc. and it looks like that will never go away even though more diverse influencers are coming up. but I do hope that girls who don't resemble her, of any race or look, don't start feeling like they have to look like her in order to get attention.
that's what I worry about, the effect on young women's psyche. of course for her, she's basking in the attention she's getting and I get it, she's gonna hustle with what she's got and why not get a tik tok influencer career off of her looks. but not a fan of this whole vibe going on atm.

have you seen any of her tik toks? How she doesn’t hide her messy ass room? She shows her acne journey and states how fake social media is? How she chooses to be with her friends/go to college regardless of her fame? Im a brown girl and I couldn’t tell you another blonde/blue eyed celeb I follow but I loveeee Alix! She keeps it real and it’s somehow relatable, even for my brown ass 😂 she’s so transparent about everything she does, the boob job, the fillers, the hair appointments, if anything I feel like the transparency is what saves girls from falling for the unrealistic beauty standards.
You've stated this perfectly. Like Laura and Manny said, it's obviously not Alix's fault. She was just putting content online like everyone else and millions of people chose her. But it is really frustrating that we're continuing to show future generations that no matter how many years go by, the rich, beautiful, skinny, blonde blue-eyed Barbie girl will always get picked first.

The only reason this girl is in anyway relevant it’s because she’s white, rich, privileged, and just the next white girl that other white tick-tokers have fixated on. Just like Emily Mariko, and where is she now ? I wish other other white/white passing influencers (such as yourselves) would give the same energy to POC creators genuinely out here killing it and also making big waves.

I've been following Manny and Laura since 2015... I love you guys so much. The podcast does help with my depression. I do wish y'all would do a thing once a month where you ask your subscribers to send in some "tea" and you guys read it, give thoughts, and discuss the course of action y'all would take to remedy the situation. Just get your subscribers involved.

As always, I just love y’all! I just checked out Alix and can understand how she’s the next one that everyone is watching….absolutely gorgeous!! But seeing her talk about her history with mental illness/anxiety as well as cystic acne definitely made me have some respect for her! She can’t control how others see her but at least she’s being honest and opening conversations on topics that people will at least not feel alone when hearing her do so! She’s now got another follower so good for her for doing her thing!

Okay so just chiming in on the whole Alex thing idk if people just forgot but when Tik tok first started it was proven that it uses a face recognition algorithm so that’s why most of the people that go extremely viral are so pretty, the algorithm basically compares how symmetrical your face is nose to eye everything so their is defined a science behind how every new “it” girl get chosen and why their all so beautiful. Just thought I would drop that hit of knowledge

I actually watch you guys because you are open to a point. What I mean by that is you aren't bringing drama for views vs openly discussing things which is really refreshing as healthy convos on any topic are always good plus you both are hella fun too. I think the past drama stuff traumatized you both into this mode and it's good but its hard to be 100 (I've experienced wild internet stuff too and I'm still shook lol) I hope you 2 feel safe to discuss the depths of that one day to fully heal online but yall are good, it's fun and yall are as open as you need to be.
