Personal opinion on mikayla. I’m really disappointed in the way she’s handled it. I’m disappointed in the audience for praising her for being unbothered. It’s beyond the “it’s just mascara” argument. I know there’s no right way to respond and she’s going to be criticized either way. Oh a human level, I have so much respect for self awareness and being constructive on your own mistakes. Would have been refreshing to hear her say, “you know what, it’s hard to turn down $$ and I’m so sorry that I broke your trust” just my opinion

I already unfollowed she said being an influencer is harder than working 9-5 and she blamed all of this on mental health. Not surprised how she isn’t holding herself accountable after lashgate. And lashgate isn’t just a "oh I’m gonna be an asshome today" it literally breaks advertising laws since this is false advertising.

I would like a follow up considering Makayla has NOT owned up to it as you hoped for and instead delivered a smug innuendo. Nothing upset me more than her carrying on like nothing happened.
Yeah it was so disappointing… like it just shows she could care less about lying to and manipulating her audience. I used to like her and even bought her first palette, but after finding out how fake her reviews/videos are I had to stop supporting. There’s too many more deserving people. Mikaylas come back video was just a giant fuck you to her supporters

I loved Makayla’s videos and was so excited for her wedding, but she’s lost me. It’s not about the mascara. It’s the fact that I can’t believe what she says anymore. It broke the magic for me. After the video that she posted where she didn’t even talk about what happened rubbed me the wrong way.

Influencers that don’t see how this is “more than just mascara” probably would also lie and deceive their own audience for a check. So when I see “this is how unbothered I wanna be” and praising her for not taking accountability and posting like nothing happened, that tells me what I need to know about their character. So glad you guys spoke out.

For the Mr. Beast rapid fire, my husband heard someone saying that people just hate positivity and I feel like that perfectly applies to this. It’s amazing that he gave 1000 people their sight back and brought exposure to the organization he was working with.

It made me so happy to hear that story about Samantha Ravndahl. I have enjoyed her content for years and she taught me a lot so I really respect her. That senecio is so relatable for a lot of us, when I saved for 5 weeks for like 3 things at Sephora 😭 when I was younger.

It’s disappointing to see one of the biggest content creators be dishonest not only in a paid ad video, but then doubling down in the comments which to me feels like she really thought she could fool millions of people. Millions of people who trust and support her to be truthful and honest with her reviews so they don’t waste their $$$ on shit products. And the gag is the mascara looked great BEFORE adding the lashes which then made her video 100% false advertising. And to not address the situation and acknowledge mistakes that were made feels like a slap in the face to the millions of people who support her. Just my two cents 😅
Yes!!!! The doubling down and continuing to lie is what did it for me. I unfollowed her…I know that didn’t mean a thing lol. But everything she’s previously done (I.e. 9-5) I could be empathetic and understanding…had she owned this, I could have some respect. But the doubling down in the comments then not addressing it. I can’t. Disappointing
I love how you guys addressed this. RUclips is so much harder than tik tok and I don't even create videos. I feel like with tik tok creators are not connected with their audience like RUclips. They don't see their audience as real working ppl like RUclipsrs do. Yall worked so hard over years and these tik tokers blew up so fast without really having to prove themselves.

Laura talking about tys dad being her pit of the week broke me down crying my father was diagnosed with stage 2 prostate cancer LAST WEEK and when I tell you 2023 is already starting off like this girlllll my goodness! Prayers for Tyler's dad!! ❤
I really know how you feel. My dad was diagnosed with bladder cancer that spread to his liver. Unfortunately, his body is weak from many other health issues, and he's being released from the hospital today and sent home with hospice.
It really sucks.
I will tell you my girlfriends dad was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer that had already spread to his hip and sternum almost 5 years ago. He's in his late 70s and has other health problems, but he is a very happy man who is living a very full life. He's still working, and you never see him without a smile on his face. He wasn't able to take chemo, so he did the infusions. He was recently told he can go six months in between them now. So don't give up hope, I think the best thing you can do for him is try to stay positive. Mindset really is everything, especially when dealing with something as scary as cancer.
You guys are in my prayers.
I think it’s great when people talk about the good things they’ve done. It helps our view of the world. The internet and media are already filled with all the negatives. Let’s also talk about the good examples, inspire people, create hope.
So, I like Makayla, I do. And I don't think canceling her does anyone any good. But here is my problem with the whole thing. It's not that she put on the lash, it's that she doubled and tripled down in the comments that there was NO lash. Girl, we can all see the clusters, just own it.
And let's be real, that mascara is 14.99, right...? The federal minimum wage is 7.25 that means that you just lied to a bunch of girls who have to work at least 3 hours so that, after taxes, they can buy the mascara she just recommended.
There are also a lot of younger kids that watch Mr. Beast. As a mom I am happy to have someone like him producing good caring content for them to watch.
I honestly think she got what she wanted. Attention. Now the whole world is talking about her. It’s sad that she can’t even adress the situation. Thank you guys for always staying true.

I am glad you guys spoke about Mikayla and the mascara controversy. I don’t usually get bothered by these things, but this one just made me feel sad and disappointed. Every beauty influencer should take a step back and think about what is really bothering the consumers. Some of us read reviews and buy a bunch of products. Some of us read reviews just for entertainment. And some of us read reviews to purchase the one product that we have been saving up for for a very long time. Some of us cannot just go buy a product and if it does not work out, go return it. Some of us are embarrased to do this because it brings us a lot of stress to be walking into the same store where you bought a product from and now going to return it for whatever reason. No beauty influencer should ever lie to their consumers, especially when they support you and trust you so much. It is not just about a product, it is deeper than that. And then there is a whole another issue where consumers love to target all of the beauty influencers because of one beauty influencer’s mistake. That’s not right. You cannot blame all of them or lose your trust in all of them because of one person’s mistake.

MANNY!!! I got caught in stand still traffic for about 50s min on the 5 at 2am in LA last year and I almost had a huge panic attack from the claustrophobia I felt like I was trapped. Ever since that night my claustrophobia has really been triggered and now I always fear the traffic of LA 😢 I need to over come it somehow
I have watched both of you for years. Half the stuff in my house is based off your reviews. I trust both of you with my spare change! Laura, I have all your perfume, skims, Minim LA, Dior, target hauls you’ve done etc… Same with Manny. Your the only beauty/life ppl I watch. Love y’all .

What angered me was when the comment section was calling Mikayla out on using false lashes and she doubled down and swore that it was just her natural lashes and the mascara. heart health is no joke. sorry you and ty are going through the stress of dealing with a family member potentially having heart issues. i feel it so deep. i am only 32 (just had a birthday on the first!) and have been struggling with health issues, and they think it's my heart. i've had a few cardiologist appointments this week for tests and it's terrifying. i also went through it with my son when he was born... and he was diagnosed with heart disease. heart issues are no joke. it's scary..... it's even out me off of work for weeks which just causes more stress and anxiety around it......
