Bangkok is a little tricky. There are 3 transit operator. (BTS, MRT, SRT)
Each has its own ticket system.
The connecting stations have different names.
So is BTS calls the station Asok and the MRT at the same
place is called Sukhumvit. More example:
Mo-Chit BTS / Chatuchak MRT
Sala Daeng BRT / Si Lom MRT
....

Tip: if you have lots of luggage but still want to take the train, some of those luggage storage services next to the train station provide delivery of your luggage directly to your hotel. I travel carry on only, so no problem for me
