This is always the end result of socialism. Eventually it falls apart. The best you can hope for is mediocrity

NO this is a result of a tyrant taking over and just taking everything for himself

None of the gulf nations are socialist. What you're describing are social benefits. Are you seriously this dense to post that much nonsense?

Well Berni said it best. 'Income has never been more equal in Venicela'. And with all those millionaires paying 2 million for q carton of eggs, proves that sosolism is indeed progresso!

Well it falls a part because the upper class want to keep their privilege. They refuse to settle for anything less and rather betray the country than to grow together in wealth and eliminate poverty. So yes it don't work cause the rich will not settle for anything less.

Two observations: 1. An economy is strong according as it adds value; that's what GDP is. Oil-rich countries who do no more than extract natural resources and sell them are not adding much value. Once the resources run out, they find it difficult to diversity to anything else. If oil really does disappear, as the alarmists have been telling us for so long, the mideast oil kingdoms will be nothing but deserts again. 2. One can grieve for the poor of Venezuela, but must not lose sight of the plain fact that it was the poor who put Chavez and then Maduro in power. They were very glad to have Chavez go around the country arbitrarily and whimsically seizing productive businesses and properties. But seizing other people's property merely got rid of property; it didn't do anything to make anyone better off. And I personally doubt the poor have learned anything. They have not the public virtue required to sustain a democratic republic.

They used to grow food, but socialism fixed prices and now it cost more to grow than to import.... Farming disappeared. Used to build cars, but due to socialism fixed prices to make "everyone equal" and now it cost more to produce the cars in Venezuela so they started importing more and more parts till practially 100% of their automotive sector was imported. Same goes for countless other industries. What happened? Only thing left was oil due to socialism as they now build NOTHING in country. They even import paper to print their worthless money on and toilet paper even though their country is COVERED in TREES.

Same in politics! When one party looses, it turns inward and away from centrism believing that it was too centrist!..

In 20 years, as a Filipino living in the Philippines I can barely say that there is a possibility that we could be the next Venezuela for almost reasons...!! Life here is Hard as Burning fires of Hell don't let my fellow Filipino citizens fooled you telling the great things here instead this country is breaking wrath on purgatory! "Believe me I swear"! There's nothing good about Philippines nowadays.

@@paolosantiago3163 I agree when you especially now there are "disagreements" (an understatement) in the higher offices and people are desperate for food (due to high food price). Ang masabi ko lang...magdasal tayo sa Panginoon at ipaubaya sa Kanya ang kinabukasan ng ating bansa. After all, it is He who changes the hearts of men.
