I gigged with one of these all weekend. I was able to dial in a tone I liked but I was not in love with it. Keep in mind I usually play a 1964 Vibriolux and a modded Marshall so my standards are a bit warped. This amp is excellent for the money. It has volume and is easy to carry.
Picked up a VT40+ a few years back. Mainly to cart between rehearsal spaces, and have been consistently pleased ever since. Eventually purchased a second to keep at home, as it moves easily from room to room unlike my others. The tech herein is pretty interesting. It runs off a 100% analog "Valve Reactor Power Amp", containing a 12ax7-powered "VariAmp Circuit" that places the tube circuit after the digital preamp and Master Volume, with it's output being ultimately controlled by the Power Level knob. Owner's manual suggests raising Master to obtain desired drive, while using Power Level to control output volume, thus providing a "pure tube tone" (sic) for those to whom that aspect matters. The VSF5 footswitch is a must-have with the VT+ amps. It not only controls banks and preset channels. In manual mode, three of the channel footswitches then each toggle drive, effect, and reverb on and off, respectively. The last channel footswitch operates a Tap Tempo function for any preset time-based effect (Delay/Chorus/Rotary/Tremolo). Honestly, though there are some decent drive sounds available, especially for Nu-Metal, this amp really does well with cleans and pedals. Some of it's clean models are really lush. There's a model of the Bruno Cowtipper Pro 22 that is one of the sweetest cleans I've ever heard. Vox pays appropriate homage to it's former employee, Tony Bruno, with said model. Some designer spent a lot of time tweaking it. It turned out quite nice. It's a great starter amp for any style player. Also a great backup/travel/practice amp even for a full-time pro. The adjustable power gets it down to whisper volumes, and (the 40/80/120) when cranked could compete with any drummer on Earth. Even the 120+ is pretty light and easy on the back. Nice, small frame fits right in your car with no struggle.
6.25 mins press and hold to log in my preset. For crying out loud that was what I wanted to know. Thats so easy thank god. Nobody answered that question until I saw this video. With the foot pedal being able to select eight of my own presets playing live is a sinch. Good job. Thanks demoer.
In regards to saving a "sound", you set the choice of amp, EQ etc, Does the volume you set the amp at also saved as well? For example, I have the Power Level maxed out...does that level get saved? Thanks very much!
+Guy Campo Yes, the volume you set the amp at saves.. the power level does not. it operates independently from the pre amp section of the amp.. hope that helps Guy!
+cranbournemusic It does! That's what I thought. One more question - I notice that the amp is always selected to an effect like "Tube OD". From what I can tel to get the "natural" sound of an amp like US Blues, with no effects, is to use the "By Pass" feature. Is By Pass programmable too?
im planing to buy this amp in about 3 months but my my only worry is will the amp take pedals very good ? chorus. distortion and wah wah pedals hope some one help me with an answer
HI just one question beetwen this VT80 n' FENDER CHAMPION 40 which one runs better with pedals as disto , overdrive, fuzz flanger etc?? I'll appreciate some of you reply me well t-you bye =)

How to save it first?
Best demo I've seen.
5:01 Message in a bottle ! :D
I need to listen to this song again, i'll be right back !
Belias I thought the same lol
So even though is 80 watts I can adjust the nob to like 10 or 20 watts and be good for bedroom?
Yes
It turns down really well. You can control volume very easily.
so a question, the difference between the vt20+ and 80+ is essentially the speaker size?
Greetings from Brazil , gr8t review , does it sound good with pedal ?
Very informative and helpful. Cheers.
i think this is the better review of this amp

If you set the amp on clean you should be fine with the VT80+ or higher. It has a 12" speaker so it should be able to handle it.

I love Led Zeppelin, nice opening riff.
What song is Rhys playing at 1:46? It reminds me something, but I don't know what.
hahaha, sounds like an old gipsy song from the balkans!
I want this amp now! \(v:)/
