      John Wayne.
How this clown thinks his license isonly valid in his county when it's issued by the STATE of MICHIGAN is hilarious.
He thinks it's unfair to get punished for driving in a separate county and have his record follow him there.
He should know that many police departments are able to log into a NATIONWIDE data base.
Suspended in MICHIGAN and pulled over in CALIFORNIA?
Yes, the cop is gonna know.

This guy doesn't understand that there are multiple parties that are invested in public safety and thus have powers over designating who is a danger to that public safety, and power to dole out different consequences as such. Not to mention there is a level of delegation and escalation that goes on with so many damn repeat offenses. Hope this guy can get some education from his lawyer so he doesn't embarrass himself in court again.

I think judge Middleton took enough joy in the two way street comment he made about being respectful to the guy, and it flying over the guys head to not flip out on him. I think judge Middleton enjoys making assholes look like idiots far more than he enjoys yelling at people, even when it's justified..He deserves no sympathy and he should never talk to anyone like this, especially a judge.

The second guy's problem is that he confuses the bond payments with fines. And it almost certainly was not properly explained to him. Ignorance of the law does not make him innocent but, and no offence to your profession, the legal system is in many ways built more as an industry than as an actual benefit to the public with respect to a lot of this basic stuff that should likely be taught in civics classes.
Even simple things like "If you drive you need a license from the region in which you reside. You only need one license for the entire country (and frankly for most of the world). If you move to a different region, you'll need to trade your existing license for a new one for that region and if you commit any traffic offences, they will be recorded against that license *and* against you personally."

I’m not sure who I would prefer to see on the bench more, Judge Middleton or Judge Simpson. Both seem to be extremely reasonable and willing to work with defendants so they aren’t royally screwed as a result of their actions. A shame they aren’t in my county but I love watching how they handle things.

The defendant made several claims that he was being punished as if he did nothing wrong. Clearly he hasn’t learned, or even tried to learn, to be responsible for his actions/inactions. 🤦‍♀️

So he doesn’t understand that what he does in Michigan is valid throughout Michigan?
How does he find his way home at night?

I cannot believe his attitude. He didn't even say thank you for all the judge did for him. I was shocked when he called the defendant. But it shows what a decent guy Middleton is. Honestly if I was the judge, I would have throw the book at him and said "no this is another failure to appear". Judge bent over backwards and called him and he was criticizing Middleton. Flabbergasting! SMH

I really can’t get over that guy being so rude. At no point was Judge Middleton condescending - maybe baffled bc the guy didn’t seem to realize it was a bad thing he didn’t show when he was supposed to, but never rude. He must be dealing with some serious insecurity if he got so defensive so quickl

Wait. Driving without a license doesn't require that your license be suspended. WHAT LICENSE!?

Imagine being the lawyer who has to get it through this guys thick skull that if Kalamazoo County has suspended your license, it is suspended throughout the state and it has to be resolved in addition to the issues he has in St. Joseph County.

14:51 it isn't rocket science: you got a bunch of tickets, you didn't pay them, your licence was suspended, you got caught. Pay off your freaking tickets, accept the penalty for driving while suspended, DON'T drive until your licence is re-instated. WTF?
It doesn't matter if you get a ticket in Kalamazoo or WaWa washington, pay the goddamn fine.
I don't understand why I'm dealing with you when the tickets are issued out of Kalamazoo. Well, your licence was issued by the state so it was suspended by the state. This emcompasses everything in the state. PAY THE GODDAMN TICKETS

Is that guy serious? The judge should give him respect??? How about a "thank you judge" for reaching out to him, when he didn't have to, to try to get him going in the right direction! Judge Middleton gave him advice on how to clean it up vs. issuing a warrant and just bringing him to jail. Someone with that attitude will just continue to break the law, because he thinks he's better than it. I hope you can follow up with it on 12/3 to see if he actually appears.
