The last 30 seconds of True Love Waits is almost completely silent, which might seem like nothing, but it gives the listener a half a minute to sit back and try to digest the emotion. It was rated their saddest song.

The album is a lot more personal lyrically, a number of songs deal with Thom Yorke's separation from his wife, who then died from cancer only months later
The Seldom Seen Kid by Elbow has to be the most similar album to AMSP that i've heard, with the big exception that it's more positive lyrically and warm instrumentally

A moon shaped pool depicts astoundingly good the beautiful side of sadness. When youre sad is also when your more intricate, thoughtful and even, id say, is when youre the purest, because this emotion removes the filters we often have sorrounding life and mundane situations. In that moment we are in the perfect present tense, just there, and anywhere else.

This album feels the same for me...it's really sad but so so beautifully executed! It's like looking at a beautiful classical painting where the subject matter is sad but the rendering is so perfect and sublime that it leaves you in awe instead of bummed out. (I'm a visual artist so that's the best analogy I could find 😅) anyways, it's a stunning album! Saw them on that tour 2 years ago and it was mesmerizing ❤

This album is so beautiful and it always gets me emotional as I think about what they went through during the process of recording AMSP. Also there's quite some 'old' material used in here, and people who love the early versions of some songs had all sorts of reactions to the final studio versions. For instance, Identikit was definitely one of my favorite Radiohead songs since the first time they played it out of nowhere in the first concert of the 2012 tour. And as time passed by, it had gown even more in me. I anxiously waited for 4 yeas for the studio version and the first time I heard it I was like 'WTF is happening here????'. But I learned to love it again and it still is one of my favorite from the band (+ I saw it live last year and OH MY GOD it's like my soul was washed away and a brand new one was put into place

You need to react to Spiritualized - Ladies & Gentlemen: We Are Floating In Space! Loving you content so far and how you've branched out into more and more avant garde spaces in rock...and this album is a MUST for you, especially now that you've worked your way up to it by going through Radiohead's discography. Its legitimately one of the best albums I've ever heard, and you can draw a lot of parallels between it, Radiohead, and Muse's work...but even more ambitious and emotionally raw. It famously won NME's Album Of The Year Award in 1997, beating out OK Computer (so you know it's good)....so yeah...love your content...you need to get on that album!

Tinker Tailor etc is a grower. It was originally one of the 2 songs on the album that weren't "winners" to me, along with Desert Island Disk. But now I look forward to it every time. The extended outro is super-duper good. And the sound palette of the whole song is incredibly interesting.

The pianos are done by Jonny, who has a classical training. He also arranged the strings. The pianos sound very different from other Radiohead songs, where Thom was playing. He is self taught and his playing is more based on chords.
