This list was our childhood. Watching this video made me realize how good we actually had it. Saturday mornings were the best, Gran Gran bringing donuts and chocolate milk, playing Super Nintendo with the sun blasting through the back bedroom window. I wish I could go back for one more Friday night/Saturday morning.

Link to the Past is my childhood. It was summer after 6th grade. At the time I mainly just played fighters, beat em ups, and platformers. But my friend Tyler let me borrow it that summer and I was completely hooked to the game and to the genre from that point forward. =]

  • @TheCompletionist
    @TheCompletionist 6 лет назад +2

10.) Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island - I'm actually in the middle of playing this right now for the very first time. I am looking to get it completed in the next month. I'll be honest - I do prefer the original super mario world over yoshi's island but this game does have some redeemable factors. I do love the collectathon aspect of the game, and I do appreciate how difficult the game can be from time to time but sometimes I find the controls a little too slippery for my liking but I'll eventually get use to them. I'm currently on world 5 right now.
9.) Actraiser - This game has been completed and retired for good but its one of the most interesting and in depth action games I've played during the snes era. As much as I enjoyed the action segments of this game, I actually really loved the city building aspects of the game as well. Who knew that blending those two elements together could make for such a wonderful gaming experience.
8.) Super Star Wars - One of those that I absolutely love for its difficulty and even though I beat this game as a kid, I don't have it completed and I really owe it to myself to play this game again because it has that perfect sense of transitional difficult with some many different gameplay styles intertwined within its a game. Its an excellent action game that deserves to be played by everybody.
7.) UN Squadron - One of the best games that ever got released for that system. It has tight addicting gameplay, beautiful music, challenging bosses, and just a wonderful experience overall. This game has been completed and permanently retired in my collection but I had too much fun getting this game completed.
6.) Super Mario All Stars - You know its kind of funny because even though I have played every game in that compilation for the nes. I've actually never played any of those games on the snes compilation. I guess when I was younger I didn't see the need for it, but I really should give it a try just to see how the artisty of how these classics transferred to the 16 bit turned out.
5.) Contra III: The Alien Wars - Just a classic in every sense of the word. I've only ever beaten this game on easy and normal mode but I know I need to beat it on hard mode in order to get the true ending and consider this game completed. This game just has some incredibly memorable boss fights. I will always have awesome memories of fighting that giant robot that rips the wall with his hands.
4.) TMNT IV: Turtles in Time - One of the few games that I was lucky enough to own as a kid. This game has been completed and retired but this is hands down the best beat'em up for the snes and a timeless classic in every sense of the world. This game also has the luxury for having some of the best music that the snes had to offer.
3.) Super Castlevania 4 - Another game that had a great sense of transitional difficulty. It was a tough game but it was a fair game as well. You had all the tools to get through this game, you just needed to be really good at implementing those tools. This game has been completed and retired for good in my personal gaming library.
2.) Super Mario World - Probably my second favourite mario game out of all the ones I've ever played. This is the very definition of a timeless classic and even though this game is completed to 100% and permanently retired. Every once in a while, I will play it again. It's one of few games that I'll pull out of retirement in order to actually play it again.
1.) The Legend of Zelda: A Link To The Past - My favourite zelda game of all time. This game has been completed and permanently retired because it was one of the few games that I was fortunate to own. I was completely hooked on it from the very beginning. Not one zelda game has come remotely close to dethroning this game and it is simply a wonderful experience from beginning to end.
You know this is an awesome list because each game has an excellent story associated with it and in my eyes that's what counts. This list may not have star fox, super metroid, donkey kong country, final fantasy, or chrono trigger but in my eyes it doesn't matter because different games are going to have a different amount of appeal to each individual player. Hopefully highlighting some of the games that don't get talked about very often such as alien 3, super star wars, ken griffery jr baseball will give people the extra push for people to play these games for the first time.

Oh...what a fantastic piece of nostalgia/passion for something a lot of us loves so much. The SNES was and is more than just a console. In my teenage years, it was my whole world. In 1991, I was an 11 years old craving for adventure, make believe adventure, and the SNES was the RPG console I and lot of other people waited for. That being said...
The way you put your emotions and love for those games connected with me and reminded me why I love this console so much. Thanks a lot for sharing those memories, those videogames are fantastic. And since you asks us fans for it; here's my top 10 SNES games of all time, for nostalgic and overall replay value over the years. Honorable mentions to Terranigma (played this 10 years later it was released on emulation), Gemfire, Mega Man x, Mortal Kombat 2 and Turtles in Time.
    1-Final Fantasy III
2-The Legend of Zelda-Link to the Past
    3-Chrono Trigger
    4-Final Fantasy II
    5-Super Mario World
    6-Secret of Mana
    7-Sim City
    8-Super Street Fighter 2
    9-Donkey Kong County
    10-The 7th Saga

      Megaman X
      For multiplayer:

      Super Street Fighter 2
      Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
      Contra 3
      Honorable mentions:

Neffets i can see that but it’s a shame that this franchise is not as loved as zelda or mario which is the main reason why nintendo has not been delivering. After all for huge companies like that sales are the ultimate goal, metroid has never sold very well so it’s understandable.

Hey Billy, love your videos. The dog story was totally priceless, only you can have your cake and eat it too. I think I should name it the "Billy Effect" :) I never had a SNES of my own. So needless to say I spent a lot of time with friends who did have one playing games. Some of the games this gal really likes to this day are Mario All Stars, Yoshi's Island, Gradius III, any of the Mega Man stuff it was so great, and Demon's Crest, Pocky & Rocky. Those are just a few. Honorable mentions to Joe & Mac, Donald in Maui Mallard, Super Star Wars. But there are too many games its hard to just boil em down to a few.

Another great list, and I 100% support Link to the Past taking the top spot!
I had a SNES back in the day but actually didn't have all that many games for it. Where I lived we were kind of starved for good video game stores (plus Nintendo of Europe kind of sucked back then, so a lot of stuff that made it Stateside didn't come out over here -- most notably the Final Fantasy games), so I never acquired that many. I did get a few for Christmas and birthdays, though -- my fondest memories of the system definitely include Super Mario World, Super Mario All-Stars, A Link to the Past, Star Fox (or Starwing as it was called here) and SimCity... the latter of which I didn't expect to like but enjoyed a whole bunch!
Since getting back into SNES in my adulthood, I've also become a fan of Quintet's games like I said in my comment on your last video, and I was delighted to see Actraiser get such a high billing on your list. That really is an excellent -- and highly original -- game that deserves much more attention. I also picked up a SNES Mini a while back, so that's given me the opportunity to catch up on a number of classics I kind of missed out on back when they were current!

Don’t understand the criticism of new videos? Game chasers eps will always take time to edit to get the quality we expect and this is a great video which helps us get to know more about the guys behind the show.
Also it helps boost the channel with how RUclips is set up and hopefully reach out to more fans which can only be a good thing? Get a grip people

I have to honestly say my number one was F-Zero. This was before I had an SNES. My friend had one and the first game I ever played on it was F-Zero. I was blown away by it. Every time I went to his house I had to play it. I finally got my own and with F-Zero of course and it's the only game I can say I've ever completely mastered. I've beat the game on it's hardest difficulty and it feels pretty good.

I am quite similar to you in that I have a whole bunch of favorite games for Super NES that are really tied with each other for first place. They are Act Raiser, Soul Blazer, Illusion of Gaia, Brain Lord, Super Adventure Island 2, A Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Secret of Mana, Super Mario World, and Super Mario All Stars.

Oh My Goodness!!! Nintendo Power really hyped me up for games and I remember begging my mom for the book all the time and she would always tell me "you can't eat a book" but she knew the love I had and she would always cave in and get it for me... Mind you I didn't always get the games I wanted but when I got older I was able to on my own... I remember renting games and it was always such a long ride home and I would read the info book that came with it all the way

Great list. Mostly spot on. I just have to add a number 11! Super Metrooooooiiiiiddddd. Super Metroid and Link to the past had me up late nights playing and trying to figure out every little puzzle on my own. I think I only had to consult help once on each game.

One day me and my sister went to see my Granny Peggy and she had acquired an Acorn Electron micro computer (i'm from England) and she was playing Chuckie Egg on it and she was awesome on it. I'd never even seen her play a video game before that day and couldn't believe how good she got on it. She got addicted to it and would wipe the floor with anyone i know on it (including me). Her coolness factor shot through the roof after that. I miss my Granny Peggy a lot and i'd give anything to have one more day playing Chuckie Egg with her again. :(
