While certainly not my favourite design. I will always have a certain respect for any transforming AoE Galvatron figures based on the fact they had to engineer a transformation that even the movie couldn’t be arsed to come up with.
Kre-O should have had an AOE toyline, especially for the Decepticons. 🤣

Ignoring the fact it's Galvatron you've at least got to admit in terms of origin and design it's pretty unique
I know it’s physically janky looking but it’s legitimately shocking to see galvatron of all figures have zero major kibble and some of the articulation seen in a mainline transformer to date

@@duyphan4617 yeah. I do slightly prefer the original’s proportions minus the weird knees, but the colors of the new SS would definitely work better.
I think it would have been pretty easy for them to have the toes fold down flat to form the trailer hitch but a plate-former is better than a shell-former any day.
I think you can actually do that truck mode because it looks like it.

Given the enormous amount of waffling on this figure, it really comes across to me that they ran out of budget due to the high piece count. While it would have been easy from a technical perspective, it seems they werent able to fit it in from a "we're making a toy for a set price point" perspective.
whats a plate-former?
@@SagaDraws a plate former is a transformer in which one of the modes is made out of a bunch of Shifting plates that form into the other mode instead of a shell. In other words the shell of one mode becomes the other mode. An example is the studio cell Unicron is a plate former because the shell of the planet mode shifts and becomes the parts of the robot mode creating a very clean robot but Hasbro Unicron is a plate former because the shell of the planet just kind of breaks apart and sticks onto the robot as kibble and you could actually remove the shell and turn it into a separate mode resulting in a very ugly clunky robot
See, to me they should have made him a leader class, and filled out some of the gaps on the figure, and given him larger arms and a bigger cannon, but considering what they had to work with in the voyager class budget I'm very impressed

It would’ve been cool, but I don’t think I and most people would agree with a leader price for that scale of a character. Bottom line, hes not big enough compared to what most people believe defines a leader.

I don't think the cannon size is really all that far off from the CG model, if you rewatch the chase scene with the Autobots where he uses it. The original Voyager's cannon was actually pretty oversized compared to the final design
I blame the spring-loaded missile gimmick on that one.
Imagine we had a gimmick where you get like a little controller and it has the options to pull apart into millions of pieces and have Galvatron either in Robot or Vehicle mode.

I understand that the vehicle had to be sacrificed to make the robot mode and I think it was a good decision by Hasbro, the real star here is the robot mode, great review btw! 🔥

It was one of the few figures from the AoE/TLK toyline that was actually good. Same goes for Megatron.
I hope both of them get a Studio Series figure though.
He should've been a leader with more parts to beef up his arms and round out his chest. Could've even have been a heavy retool of the DOTM leader with how the truck like panel-forms up into his legs and torso. I think it could've worked.
Im surprised a third party hasnt made the 'transforming cube effects' for the figures. It would be cool to have a pose with some of the particles attached to the figure somehow

They've done well considering the logistical nightmare that was the design. Are his proportions janky? Absolutely. Could they have done better without turning it into a third party-level of complexity? Probably not.
However the arm cannon is a bit of a let down, it looks too small and has I can't manage to suspend my disbelief regarding how incomplete the mold is. The OG figure had a better arm cannon
Underrated design! So glad that handgun is removable. The promo art for some reason made it look like it was his molded hand. He's really good considering he's a Voyager!
I think he looks best when just default standing there MENACINGLY. His skinny arms and square torso start to look a bit off in dynamic poses. Dat headsculpt/paint tho. And they deserve major props for that transformation!

loads better than that horror of a figure we got for the AoE line...
i'm just not sure about the transformation... the engineering is excellent but i just don't think it's a lot of fun to transform...
also, perhaps do an update video comparing his robot mode with the 2014 AoE version so we can really appreciate how much better this version is 👍🏻

0:36 THIS!!!! This gives me hope they will make AOE Prime perfect! The fact a voyager AOE Figure like Galvatron has 0 KIBBLE in the back shows how much time and effort the designer took with this one!
I’m glad we got Galavtron but I still would love to see the rest of the Dinobots from AOE as well!
When SS AOE Galvatron was first revealed, it looked a little weird at first but as more pictures of him come in, he looks better. Hopefully we can get an upgrade kit especially a slighter larger hand cannon that is more detailed. Hopefully he will get retooled into the Robotnik’s truck from the first Sonic movie for the Transformers Collaborative line if Hasbro can because Paramount reused him and blacked him out with red lights and a trailer.
The good thing from about the SS version is that he is more cleaner especially back. I still have the original Hasbro version but I wouldn’t mind picking the new one up but the TLK Voyager OP mold is a little bit too big. Hopefully we can get SS TLK Megs down the line since the SS line has almost done all Megatron’s from the original movies including Galvatron which he still technically was.
First we need a aoe/tlk Optimus (and in my personal preference a better movie 1-3 Optimus,
cuz i dont like that what we have atm with SS05, SS32, SS44 the mold is not the best and its overpriced anyway.
And in Truckmode the mold REALLY sucks.
I wish more like a downsize mpm04.. but what we get now? a SS05 repaint in the premium finish line, paint is good but mold sucks more than SS 32/44

Really agree with you SS TLK Megs would be awesome, the first toy from TLK was really good as voyager class.
It's always fun whenever a Transformer with 2 wildly different modes makes you question "HOW THE F?" at first glance. SS Sentinel Prime was one of those for me, and while this Galvatron IMO doesn't come anywhere close to that level, it does a pretty decent job, all things considered. He's got flaws, but I'm sure some 3rd party will probably sell an upgrade kit down the line. I'll definitely pick him up if I can find it.

I still don't like this design for Galvatron, but still props to Hasbro. I have all the movie Megs so this guy will fit nicely.
The gun he comes with is way to small. Hopefully DNA gives this guy a much needed upgrade.

Not gonna lie, I'm impressed with him enough that I'll be picking him up when he's released. He's definitely better than the AOE Voyager class. But he's not perfect. Like other people have said, he should've been a Leader Class. But with the budget they had and what they had to work with, he's good enough for me.
I dunno if it's true or not, but I read somewhere that Bay specifically and purposefully had Galvatron's design rendered in such a complex manner to screw around with Hasbro's toy designers.......I respect his Transformers movies as a whole, but he started to make some rather questionable decisions, especially towards the end there.......I can't help but wonder if he was trying to get himself fired, seeing as he was getting tired of doing it, but they kept offering him more and more to return......
So happy it’s not a leader. We all realistically know that if he was a leader he’d only be slightly better and be almost double the price
If the original was painted better, then I’d say I would easily prefer that one over the new SS. And I’m pretty sure there’s a way to remove the back kibble. I don’t really care if it’s a shellformer. I think it’s proportions (except for the awkward knees) fit it better than the new SS. But still, neither look too good at all.
Edit: but even then, I would still prefer Unique Toys Nero. I know it’s more of an MPM Galvatron, but even for a third party company, they did miles better than what Hasbro is willing to make.
Well yeah of course Nero is better. You'd hope it would be for nearly 300 dollars.

Ok quick question regarding SS, so as we know they have made some earthrise/kingdom figures that fit in with the 86 series(like cyclonus and springer) but seeing as we have a ultra magnus from earth rise. Do you guys thing that they will make a new ultra magnus for SS 86?

I don’t know why but I almost do prefer the old one paint job. There is something quite appealing with those brighter colors.
I think it's kind of silly that on the underside of the vehicle you can see that there's a big gap that the feet could have folded into. They should've done that and then had the weapon store on the actual trailer like it usually does.
yes, i can't buy this figure as it will drive me mad seeing that ugly lump of kibble right next to a space it could so easily have folded into.
Seeing this guy on Thew's 2023 top 10 convinced me to finally grab him off Amazon today. That and I still needed a Trashmaster in the collection. Never had the original or really any of the AOE toyline. As a voyager other than the chunky chest he looks amazing with the paint, killer head sculpt, and improved articulation. Excited to get him, but considering scale and last years ROTB Scourge, this would would succeed much better as a Leader class figure as an updated Prime would. Next to previous movie SS Megatron figures he's simply to short and stubby to pair up with any one other than an already outdated Prime. Original truck mode definitely looks cleaner but for a shell former it's expected.
It definitely looks ugly, clunky, flat And is also a shellformer technically.. Even though the head sculpt of the original is not accurate, I prefer the original which is sad.. Third party galvatron/nero is amazing though
To be honest 😑, i do not know what i want to say about this figure 😒. That's why i not really huge fan of Transformers Age of Extinction robot's design ☹️, all of them is too complex to turn figure form ☹️. All robots 🤖 in Transformers Age of Extinction is too complex, too humanoid, i do not like it ☹️. Galvatron's arm cannon should be more bigger, similar bigger to 2014 Galvatron's arm cannon 😐. Hasbro and Takara Tomy must find the way to hide Galvatron's toes when we transformed Galvatron into truck mode 😐. Galvatron's chest is too flat, should be little bit forward to made him more menacing and intimidating 😐. Seems like, i have to pass this figure, despite i like Age of Extinction Galvatron ☹️. That's why i collect Jurassic World Dinosaur only because some Transformers figure not really perfect looking ☹️.
Studio Series AOE Galvatron looks awesome. Looks way better then the old AOE movie toy Galvatron. I'm surprised that he's not as tall as the movie 2007 and Revenge of the Fallen Megatrons in the Studio Series toyline. Sure, the arm blades aren't as big as in the movie and there's the visible feet in truck mode. But the mold design and paint job looks great. I do hope that DNA Design does do a upgrade kit him. Giving him a better arm blades and cannon, two rocket cluster to peg on both sides of the arms and truck. Heck. I can see Takaratomy to a Premium Finish Galvatron, to give him a more chrome or shiny silver like in his movie appearance, if that line keeps on going.
it would be nice if they dont release random figures, like no one ask for a SS05 premium finish.
I'm disappointed that the clavicles aren't painted as they were shown on the render images, neither does the cannon. But he still looks great. Very impressive figure.
i HATED this figures look for a while but after seeing some images in a MUCH less lit up room and chefatrons review i actually really really want this figure now
Fun fact I learned from from a different RUclips comment; did you know Galvatron was originally supposed to be Motormaster? Someone please get on a custom Bayformers Motormaster using this mold, it would be amazing

Honestly this galvatron looks fine but he would have looked so much better if he had bigger arms his arms are too skinny lol and the weapon too but that's an accessory
Well this guy is trash in robot mode a literal eye soar in my opinion, the transformation looks like things will get in the way of what your trying to do.better than some though but the trucks cab looks good except for the feet.

Okay when he says it painted good I can't agree sure he can have his opinion but let's be real for a sec this studio series galvatron is painted yes is it good not at all Hasbro if they don't go all for these figures what is the point of having it in your collection if every time you look at you think it's the worst looking on your entire shelf I mean I know that you could just paint it up a bit and make look just bit better but just why Hasbro get your crap together 😡😤😡😤
The reason Studio Series Galvatron's blaster is smaller because in the Age of Extinction Movie. Galvatron's cannon wasn't making his arm longer than the other arm. People need to understand that to see why the newer one uses a smaller blaster.
I really don't like it, mostly because i got unique toys Nero 3 weaks ago. But there is still some area that i can't enjoy. Im saving my money for sideways and bb movie ironhide
UT-03 is amazing but so much more expensive - this for a mainline release is very impressive

Sadly, what I thought about this when I saw the first images turned out to be true:
-great headsculpt
-great mass management/transformation for the legs
-horrible chest, so boxy and simple is borderline one-step changer
-ridiculously spindly arms
-why didn't they think of using the feet to form the back bumper and the hatch for the trailer instead of just being stuff (?) in the back
They should have just gone for the leader price point, if only for the sake of having much more pieces to work with.
TLDR:
Great head, great legs, throw away everything inbetween.
I just picked up this figure I was really impressed with it but I transformed it and the put the rone part in for the side and now he won't transform but I'm happy with the robot mode to just display and pose
It’s easy to tell that SS Galvatron’s design was inspired by unique toys Nero.
not a big fan of Galvys' robot mode, looks too boxy and not angular like his on-screen self.
Am I the only one who noticed that the truck looks like the truck of Eggman in the Sonic movie?
I dont mind shellformers but the way they did the first galvatron was lazy as the shell of the truck could have at least folded up better to not be such an eyesore in robot mode. I like the new one a lot better

It's not exactly perfect but at least they tried their best since we can't always see the magic happening all the time. Although I wish Galvatron had a different transformation in the movie.
I can already see DNA Design doing an upgrade kit for this Galvatron.

Just bought this. Simply blown away by the engineering.
I found out that laser prime has light piping, their are two small holes that are connected to his eyes 👁

The age of Extinction galvatron in Studio series is way better to the old one I love it
I thought this Galvatron was a joke when I first saw it and now that it's real. It's terrible. The first version was good enough, there is no transforming in the movie so that they made it a shellformer makes perfect sense. Turning him inside out and having it with absolute crap proportions doesn't fix anything. The weapon is also tiny, tiny arms, square bulky chest. The original is way better, especially the Takara paint version. Hasbro shouldn've made this Galvatron, it's inferior to the first version.

Holy sheet! He is here, no doubt this scales with AOE/TLK prime perfectly, the possibility is the main appeal to me, i love they design this figure! Also amazing review mate!

Voyager Class: TFBB Thundercracker & AOE Galvatron as well.. Same with Premium finished figures too and getting Deluxe class Deluxe class SS: Deluxe TFBB Ironhide & Arcee.
I was finally able to get one of these off amazon. I love this figure. Transformation is so fun and both modes are great (despite some drawbacks). It's really incredible that they were able to make an even halfway decent figure from this crazy-ass design. It gives me hope that they will treat Knight Optimus right and not have him be a kibblefest like the TLK voyager. BTW, to close the gap in the top of the truck better, you should rotate the head around for alt mode. It'll come together a bit more cleanly!

I just picked up this figure and I am really impressed with the engineering. I do wish that they could've made the feet maybe a little smaller so they could tuck away a little better but besides that, I think this figure is awesome! So happy I copped the last one 😁

It definitely looks better in hand than it did in those promo pictures. I do wish it had a consistent silver paint/plastic, but I could understand budget constraints.
The detail and paint job is bloody perfect!!! It's just a shame the transformation is so fiddly and awkward
Hmm, He Doesn’t Look Too Bad, But Much Better Then The Original AOE Galvatron, They Should Do The Studio Series TLK Megatron, And I Do Believe There Gonna Do A Mask Shield The Staff And Maybe His Feet And Jet Parts For His Transformation, And I Definitely Wanna See It In The Future
That transformation looks very reminiscent from what a Unique Toys figure would be. Good thing that Hasbro may be learning from them to make these bullshit movie designs work. Hopefully they can also improve the original TLK voyager Optimus prime with more engineering like UT did with challenger because he's not a really bad figure, just needs to get rid of that stupid backpack. And I would totally accept if they find a way to parts-form a shield out of the truck bits like the Takara version of the Leader.
I have a feeling someone will make a custom ROTB Optimus Primal figure out of this, mainly by the chest
I don't have any emotional ties to the movie. So I think this figure is awesome. Engineering just blows me away.
Just because you don't display a figure a certain, does not give the figure a pass. The engineers could not figure out a way to fold the feet into that hollow section in the truck mode? They would rather use that part for weapon storage? Pathetic.

All jokes aside, this figure is pretty decent, but it doesnt beat my current top 3 want's of Sideways, The Fallen, and MPM blackout
Doesn't look perfect but then again I don't even like this design and as a figure it looks pretty fun, with great posability. I'm guessing that DNA Design will do something about the small arms and the cannon. This is a perfect figure for them to work on.
I um…haven’t been watching for a while, been preoccupied with other things, luckily I got a job, so I’ll be able to start getting more figures again, and I’ll use your videos to help decide if I buy them or not!
I might be getting Galvatron. His robot mode looks great, just wish the arms were a bit bigger. Truck mode looks nice but would be better if the feet thingies could flatten a bit. Overall looks pretty good imo.
