An advantage of the pack is that it’s good for new fans like me, who want a bunch of movie decepticons without having to shell out obscene prices on the aftermarket.
This is the exact reason why I got both this and the autobot multipack when they came out. In my case, it’s less of a new fan and more of someone who got into the figure collecting schtick later than most.
First off, welcome to this painfully fun hobby, and second me too! I hated Studio Series at first because every figure I got broke but now, I'm like a total Shill for this line. (I have yet to get a terrible figure again but I will let you know when I do and which one to avoid.)
It’s also kinda funny that Bonecrusher and Brawl were omitted from this set, because it reminds me of the 2007 Transformers movie game. You’re only allowed to play as Megatron, Starscream, Blackout, Barricade, and Scorponok (who, coincidentally, are the only Decepticons in this set). Bonecrusher and Brawl are only NPCs in the game. 😂 And Frenzy is just…….. nowhere in sight. Except the cutscenes.
@@maxrodriguez889 oh they were all over the trailers and not to mention in the game that came out before the movie did too, props if you managed to avoid mowing before they show up, maybe that’s why no one I talk to that’s not a hardcore transformers person ever know who I’m talking about when I say their names
It’s also strange that megatron doesn’t have any of his copper highlights, I know that was a premium figure but considering they actually did change stuff for him and barricade in this set, it just feels weird
Just like the autobot set with Ironhide, it’s almost funny seeing prices for Blackout dipping after the box set was released because some of the aftermarket prices I’ve seen for that big boy exceeded the msrp of this set
I still have the original barricade and I have a few things to say. The hood fell off for mine but I'm pretty sure I was being to rough since I was young when I got it. when transforming it I recommend pegging the arms into the legs then into the roof. Finally my old copy is so damn flimsy, like the arms literally have no traction on the ball joint at all, and the hips and feet are like wet noodles
I myself got myself an orginal human alliance barricade, and frenzy. Now that, is an amazing figure. The mpm barricade is more accurate in robot mode, BUT it doesn't feature an internal frenzy and a full interior, pluss opening doors.
It doesn’t help where the hoods ball joint connects is made of clear plastic cus that’s hasbros big friend. Cus that cracked and broke on me sadly as well. Imma see if I can find this barricade seperate cus my god the paint is so much superior
Never knew that people considered Barricade's transformation annoying. I got it when I was younger, and I genuinely enjoyed it. Never had any issues of things not tabbing together in the vehicle, and I'm a huge fan of how all four wheels easily touch the ground without any extra fiddling (*cough SS49
The thing is that they don't know how to really transform it. It frustrates me because i can help. If you can't see what's going on you're doing it wrong. You can do the roof last. There's many pegs you gotta get done inside that you can't see. If you let the roof piece with the cop lights get in your way you can see how you can peg the arms in the legs better and not just squeeze in blindness hoping everything fits. Knowing little bits like that can make a figure be a 6/10 to a 9/10 real quick
10:32 That's a flaw in the design... For some reason, the propellers like to be in an arrangement of 2 - 4; 2 in the left side and 4 in the right one (looking from the back) You need to play with the hinches of each propeller to get rid of that "compression" issue
I don’t know why, but it just feels odd seeing the Megatron missing those few spots of silver paint; it looks mostly identical, but slightly off. But yeah, I love that Megatron figure; I think the RoTF chest helps the design so much, as well as the proportions…I also got it for like $20USD a while back, no weapon though but I didn’t care about that anyway.
From what I hear, they regularly make the full mold everytime and then recycle the leftover plastic like alternate heads and sprew for other figures. Most likely to reduce costs and not have to make the assembly method different, they just opted to do the original version of Blackout. And besides, Grindor is still pretty cheap on certain sites like BBTS and around here he shelfwarmed for a good year at a local walmart which I snagged ofc.
I love that Barricade paint job, it was what kept me from buying the original figure. Shame its not being sold on its own, because Im not about to buy an entire pack for one delux.
You made this review a lot more entertaining than it had any right to be, with amusing energy and funny comments throughout, all while managing to still be very informative and deliver an actual thorough review. Nicely done. Subbed!
They should take some clues from Sideways if they ever go back and remake Barricade for a future Dark of The Moon release or something. That figure was surprisingly tight, especially for a character that shows up for 5 seconds and gets killed off _in alt mode._
If I had to guess they are probably going to put brawl and bone crusher in the revenge of the fallen box set, because they were in that movie, but I like the idea of a 2 pact released later
I got my studio series Barricade from the buzzworthy 2-pack with clunker Bumblebee, and the clear socket joint on his back got a huge crack in it on only the 2nd or 3rd time transforming him.
I'm pretty sure its more like a 15-20 dollar cost difference. Maybe the price of the 15th anniversary pack was lower because I pre-ordered it, but in the US, I got it for $115 dollars, while this Decepticon pack is $150 in comparison. Maybe I'm tripping and the 15th anniversary pack was more expensive but thats what I remember. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I pre-ordered this set the hour that it went live on Amazon. I got it like 2 weeks ago,and it is an amazing 4-pack. I wanted it for mainly Starscream since I missed out on the original release, but the other figures are great, too. I did swap Blackout's and Grindor's forearms (and got rid of the tree sap paint on Grindor) so that Blackout would have the articulated hands (until I can track down the DNA upgrade kit).I care more about Blackout than Grindor, anyway. Repainted all of them to better match their movie looks, and hollowed out he plastic in between the fingers of Megatron to give a more realistic look. Overall, definitely worth the $160.
As an adult collector (and a fan of the movie), with a minimal collection of other Transformers, I was very happy to pick this set up from Amazon today. They're having a deal right now - the whole set for only $100! That's a pretty insane bargain; I wonder how it's even possible. These look to be very high quality, beautifully painted, and visually appealing. So excited to get to try them out and flesh out my collection further.
The autobot pack took a while to sell out on Amazon when I got it last year around December and if Hasbro learned anything and decided to act on it, this pack should be in stock longer at least.
I won't lie, I know you said the barricade toy feels a little weird when it comes to making it look dynamic.. best believe the issue is also present on the masterpiece, shame because i love the mpm toy SO MUCH but sometimes its a little iffy when it comes to makking good looking poses also what the hell out of all the stuff they had to cut from mpm to studio series WHY WAS THE HAND TRANSFORMATION REMOVED it makes the hands disgustingly innacurate, they found a solution for sideways but not barricade :( so i do agree figure definitely needs a refresh
I feel like it would have made more sense to put brawl in the pack instead of barricade since starscream, brawl, blackout, and megatron all show up in the mission city fight. And they could have later done a two pack with Bonecrusher and barricade as the highway pack
Watching this video made me realize that i was transforming Megatron's shoulders wrong. I was leaving them in the same position they were in in robot mode. Folding them down has made the alt mode so much cleaner. Guess thats what i get when i go by eye transforming him for the past two years lol
I understand why Bonecrusher isn't included in the set, but going by that same logic a two pack with him and brawl could probably not happen next year since they only have an MP Brawl left to do unless they do a Bumblebee/ROTB character.
Glad to see that I'm not the only person whose final step on Barracade's transformation into alt is to basically just try and smash/squish the whole thing together and then just give up.
I feel like it would have been a better idea if they would have subbed brawl with blackout. I understand why they want to include blackout because of his importance but we recently got the very similar grindor mold and the MP blackout.
The biggest buy incentive here for me would be the Megatron, and Blackout. Never had the original Megatron, and still only have the first run voyager which has not aged all that well. Starscream looks decent and proportioned better than the ROTF voyager which I feel is still decent for how old it is. Barricade is give or take at the robot mode looks fantastic whereas the original, and DOTM release had a much cleaner police car mode. As for Bone Crusher, and Brawl while I have the original deluxe versions still holding out for better SS Leader class releases in a couple of years.
How is the grill for the barricade? I have the ss barricade from the buzzworthy 2 pack and, because its rubber, it just looooooves to sick out forward. does this one fix that problem? because if it does, I have more of a reason to get this set.
Amazon had it for $99 USD this week. That and some gift cards made me finally grab the set. I'm happy to have them, though everything you said is spot on.
Answer for not including bone crusher and brawl: when you think of LA deceptions, those two are the last you think of. Be real. The rest are actually relevant to the story in some capacity.
The earlier version of this Barricade mold had the quote on the rear fenders, I wonder if it was just budgeting, I really hope so, but with the state of things I could see why having the word “enslave” on a cop car might be a little too close to home
I would get the set for Blackout, Megatron and Starscream because I missed out on those when they released but as someone who owns the SS Barricade mold is one of the most infuriating figures to transform seconds to Earthrise Arcee, the thing doesn’t want to stay together at all and the thing breaks if you try to force! I was honestly expecting that to be a good figure but for it to lose to a figure that came out in 2009 is honestly sad because of the engine and quality we have today
I still own the Barricade from the two pack it came with Clunker Bee. It looks the same as the first studio series Barricade, minus it has the "To punish & to enslave" quote not applied on, the windows are clear clear & most areas aren't black like on this Barricade from the 4 pack. & yes... The ball joint on the front window loves to shatter, since on mine. It's cracked. I will give this Barricade from the 4 pack credit for darker windows, a better painted head & the police numbers on the chest area.
Barricade is a figure that you have to transform a bit differently from the instructions. I used to have his elbows bent with the doors folded out so I can get the arms to tab in better. I love studio series but sometimes the instructions do not help
The bayverse decepticons are awesome, I do wish they would be used more often and not killed off in the first movie. Also, they could’ve added one of the other two decepticons in the set.
Good set but I feel like the autobots are more worth it. Ironhide payed for the entire set, Back then and prime payed for 2. in this one you just don’t get that much value, barricade is ass, starscream and megatron are very easy to find in the secondary market for retail, and blackout is just the inferior version of the mold since it has the girl hands. Still tho who cares what I say, this set is still amazing.
The Megatron mold definetly could have had a waist swivel, ther is enough clearance between the torso parts and the hips to put at least a mushroom peg in there, just adding that joint would have done wonders and most people wouldnt complain
I like this barricade with this new change. But the chest don't connect with the torso and thats annoying but for me, is the "best" representation of him
You know if you untab blackouts waist from the upper torso, you can completely tuck the helicopter gun barrel under the torso, so it’s pointing towards his back, instead of it just hanging there like a displaced peepee
I got the buzzworthy barricade and clunker bumblebee 2 pack and I absolutely loved the bumblebee but I did not like how spindly barricade was and I’m hoping to get this pack for Christmas so I’m hoping I have a better time with barricade
From my experience with barricade, my copy is a little annoying to get together, but once you do, he stays together, so that might differ from copy to copy. 😅
Wow, Bonecrusher is sought after? I stopped collecting Studio Series for a while now so I was surprised. I know Shockwave is as well but my copy has deficient joints, loose in other words, so my copy is kind of disappointing but I’m pretty sure I can do some techniques to mitigate that. Yeah I like Barricade from this series but godDAMN is it such a pain to transform him and he’s pretty fiddely. I do have Grindor but not Blackout but I don’t care, and I have movie 1 SS Megatron Megatron anyway. I also got Brawl already and he was my second SS figure ever (Starscream was my first) so yeah…kinda surprised to see this series is still going strong. Man do I wish I got the War for Cybertron Gamer Edition Optimus when I had the chance, but oh well…
Starscream’s legs become the back of the jet and incorporating more into the back is just cluttering the already junked up jet. And he’s pretty clean already And barricade’s thighs become the ports to where his biceps tab into the car mode so a literal thigh swivel will make his transformation even worse to do And those are my favorite of the movie 1 cons and bots
The four pack is cool, except hasbro still hasn't made frenzy yet because there is still no core class studio series figure for him yet because they already made all the other decepticons from the 2007 movie into studio series. Also, it's kind of weird that barricade is in this pack even though he disappeared during the final battle in Mission City in the movie.
I guess it’s confirmed. I have the original SS Barricade(whichever number he was), and I quite liked and enjoyed his transformation. I am crazy. Slightly insane, but definitely crazy. Sweet.
So I ended up passing on this set after already have Blackout and Starscream, and partially because I’m going for the MPM decepticons, but I also got the Autobot one and I would’ve only gotten the set for Brawl who’s not present here
i feel like all the years 1 (and like half of the year 2) Studio Series need a second go, especially Grimlock, cuz like, he's going to be so radically different from the other Dinobots who won't come out until at least 2025
I think it's because for the autobots it's 2 deluxes and 3 voyagers whereas decepticons has an extra leader so they had to go with 4, and these four are more...iconic, i guess. Like the other 2 are great but these 4 are the ones with the spotlight in the movie so they had to go with 4, these are the ones
You mistransformed the propellers In robot mode. You're supposed to get them closer together. That way when you peg Scorponok on the back his legs wrap around the 2 inner propellers and fix the whole thing in place so it doesn't move

What do you prefer ss 54 or ss 13???
My Barricade is totally good haha also a favorite fs! I have the OG figures of all of them and no real issues and Transformations are fine too.
10:29 you’re not the only one half of those rotor blades only fold in while the others don’t and I found it weird
For Megatron, I think it was another case of “Mainline figure being the blueprint for the MPM” like with RotF Leader Prime.
Funnily enough back at 2021 i saw a normal deco bonecrusher on a toy store, so yes im genuinely suprised people are hunting this figure
10:30 my copy of grindor does that on the exact same side
Man do I wish I got the War for Cybertron Gamer Edition Optimus when I had the chance, but oh well…
The only reason I’m gonna try to get this is because my cousin broke my Starscream and barricade
I like them all especially Megatron and barricade
I feel like the Sprew thing on Blackout make sense cause if you use Grindors hands you will waste the material
1:26 Hasbro's math is 2 deluxes equal a leader.
Man, Imagine Barricade having two windows
starscream looking awesome blackout looking awesome i might buy this next year
Bone rusher and brawl should’ve been here too 100%
Starscream’s legs become the back of the jet and incorporating more into the back is just cluttering the already junked up jet. And he’s pretty clean already
And barricade’s thighs become the ports to where his biceps tab into the car mode so a literal thigh swivel will make his transformation even worse to do
And those are my favorite of the movie 1 cons and bots
The Barricade ball joint does still have a likelyness of shattering
I only gave you a like because of that beautiful intro. lol
The transformation of that Barricade is very similar to the 2007 Deluxe Class, unless it's the same one with minimal changes.
bonecrusher and brawl are missing because 200 bucks is a bit excessive for 6 figures, but not for 5 apparently
I guess it’s confirmed. I have the original SS Barricade(whichever number he was), and I quite liked and enjoyed his transformation. I am crazy. Slightly insane, but definitely crazy. Sweet.
This box set is overall not bad. Does the DNA Design kit work with this specific Megatron, or does the paint not match?
To my knowledge, I don’t think That Toy Guy ever covered Studio Series Blackout or Starscream
18:08 😢😢
Barracudas now on the hunt for that toy guy and Ladiesman217
Barricade was also at the scene of blackout correct?
I lost my old tiny one, now I’m trying to find another one but bigger
The blades on the far back can move almost on top of each other
Passing on this set because i already have Grindor, starscream, Megatron, and barricade
It was explained ong just listen IDIOTA
Swapping barricade with anyone else would make the pack a lot better
18:26 And Barricade😂
You mistransformed the propellers In robot mode. You're supposed to get them closer together. That way when you peg Scorponok on the back his legs wrap around the 2 inner propellers and fix the whole thing in place so it doesn't move
