This speech is still so relevant today. There is so much hate in the world, and it doesn’t solve anything. Love and understanding are sorely needed.

I've seen footage of posters for this film in front of a cinema in a bombed out London in 1940.
The film begins as chaplain playing his little tramp character, by the end we have Charles Chaplin looking straight at us giving an impassioned speech.
He would appear in other films , but never were his comical moustache again

ok guys, basically the movie is about two big characters, a satira about Hinkler and another a exploited worker also played by Charles, in a moment in the movie, he is confused as hinkler who was about make a glorious speech as many of him, but instead the worker makes a speech about mutual respect, fraternity and... well u already watched it. And that's actually the end of the movie. So touching but u have too watch it is so good.

This is a great speech. Chaplin's brilliance is in recognizing how people are inherently good. Weronika the very reason this speech connects with people is because we know the truth of it. Chaplin gave this speech at the height of the NAZI rise to power. Surely life has been difficult since but the truth that Chaplin speaks of remains in our hearts and the horizon isn't nearly as dark as it was in 1940. Don't give in to despair. Those that profit from the structure of injustice only profit when we give up. Part of what makes this speech so powerful is that he resists the urge to criticize mere personalities. Even though Hitler cast a shadow over everything at that time Chaplin talks about the STRUCTURE of how these evils exist and how people, the world over, want things to be good for their fellow human being. That is still the truth. There will be obstacles, but we can all agree on how we feel toward one another and it is with kindness and gentleness. Try to remember that. Noapte b'una.

An interesting footnote to The Great Dictator is that Hitler used to get copies of films and screen them for guests. He screened this to an increasingly uncomfortable group but made no comment. At the end he told everyone to leave and then watched the film again on his own.

One of the few times I'll say this, it worked better with the music someone added much later.

Your far left aren't you. Have been so delusional from the MSM propaganda that you don't understand you actually support what you claim to hate. You are the ones that want to destroy life, You are the ones that want to get involve in pointless wars for no reason killing thousands of people sending American children to die while supporting and defending terrorists, you are the ones calling for the assassination of someone who one a democratic election. The more you hate. The more you continue to fall from humanity, you want to stop all the hatred look in the mirror and change yourself. Because you don't realize that You are the ones for hatred, you want people to be solely dependent on the government. You are ignorant and unless you open your eyes and look in the mirror. Nothing is going to change because your in a bubble, not capable of critical thinking and you just do as the MSM tells you. If you could learn to let go of the hate in your heart. Maybe you could be happy again.
