You love the character but how can you really love the person who played it?

Just stumbling on this channel tonight, I absolutely love the peppering in of that 1920s-30s diddy in the transitions. It kind of cracks me up but also replenishes momentum to the video. Anyway, in general, great stuff. Subscribed. Liked. All that.

As someone who isn’t into movies, this is an interesting documentary. Especially since most don’t know 90% of the stuff mentioned here. That and it was nicely formed and edited for the most part.
Plus I can say I was entertained up till the end. At the end I forgot that I was watching a video with less than 1k views at 5 months old. WTF happened?

His personal life may have been a disaster. Yet his contributions cannot be overlooked or forgotten.
His speech in THE GREAT DICTATOR is timeless and a classic.
Unfortunately, Hoover set his sights on Chaplin. Once this occurred, Hoover would do anything to destroy a person. The spirit and tyranny of Hoover still roams the halls of the FBI.
Chaplin should receive a citizenship posthumously.

The label "Communist" is just a way to dismiss ideas without really giving a valid reason why. I'd say Chaplin was more a humanitarian then a communist. Most examples of communist countries we have aren't democratic, they're communist dictatorships. It's the dictatorship aspects of socialism/communism that we need to avoid. There's still a risk of the rise of dictatorships within capitalist systems. When the wealthy want to extiguish competition and limit the ability for people to start new companies by introducing legislation that creates more and more hoops to jump through to even get the ball rolling. Sometimes I wonder if the world is being ruled by its own idea (money). The imaginary carrot on a stick that makes people step on others to get ahead in the imaginary game of economics. Surely theres a better way to structure our society that doesn't leave the wounded to fend for themselves. Like in the movie Modern Times, people often get better care in prison then they do out in the cruel world we've created. Maybe one day we will transition to a society very similar to what astronauts have, where oxygen is shared and not horded. A brother/sisterhood of humanity. Working to better the lives of every inhabitant of this planet and to end our obsession with the paper 💷 we print. I don't think, psychologically speaking our species in yet in a position to transition to this sort of world. The wealthy do not yet want to give up their positions of power.
