2021 update… Simon and Martina are no longer together but I still love these old vids. They’re comforting for me.
still upset tbh but ill still come back for the nostalgia :,
@@melz4766 Same here :(
I enjoy watching their videos ❤
It can not be helped, i love rewatching eyk old videos
for hours
+EmmaInsua I'm glad you still like our older videos :D
sooooo addicting
We should start and EYKA Eat your Kimchi Anonymous. Hi, I'm Cathlyn and I am a proud Simon and Martina Addict. I specialise in re-watching videos. Especially the older ones. Nice to meet. You guys all! Ohhhh you so nasty!!
lmao for real though most Korean soups look like pozole so like it makes me want some pozole Dx
I'm casually having an eyk marathon session. I'm on my third hour. I need help.
But seriously, I loooove the Korean videos so much! I feel like there's more personality and humour in the Korean series. Don't get me wrong though, the Japanese ones are so well produced and professional :)
Instead of adding hot water on the burnt rice pot, add some broth from the stew... Its amazing!
Original nasties activate!!! Ermahgerd I come back here when I need to pretend that all is right with the world and I want to relax
Same. I come back to these videos to remember the good ol days.
My son will not stand for any Curious George, but when Momma puts Simon and Martina on, he’s so enthralled. Thanks guys!! 🥰❤️❤️❤️
Seriously if a total stranger would go through the "videos I liked" they would just be bombarded by a whole shitload of Simon and Martina. I am totally not addicted. Not at all... Not at all! (i at least have a good excuse. I've been stuck in bed sick/with extreme pains for over a year. Need to do something!)
Why do I watch these at 3 am?! D; literally rewatch them all, every food one. So hungry :'(
Binging through old EYK videos is like chicken soup for the soul 💙
I’ve seen this video millions of times and still can’t get enough. I miss the Korea videos 😢
Your cuteness and love for each other really warms my heart :) You guys are such a great match
throwback to simons pre-pubesent beardless chin
i love you guys
tables in north america doesn't have tables like that because people would steal the cutlery
very true
Not true - Is your "North America" just America? Cause up to your north there are many restaurants that have cutlery on the table. And I don't think stealing is a problem.
I think stealing would happen in a lot of countries. Not everyone, but I am sure some people would.
That is the exact thing my mom said when I showed her that part lol!
There are places here in canada, mostly asian places, that place their chopsticks in a little holder so you can take them yourself. don't be so ignorant.
in their "how to eat ramen like a pro" video martina says "you can use fresh kimchi if you want but that's kinda lame-o" -2014 martina would think, 2012 martina was lame for liking fresh kimchi :D and it shows how korean they got ahahahah
OMG I was just thinking of that moment and then I read your comment. WHOAAA O_O
Two binge watchers of eyk unite hahahah!! :D
im pretty sure shes talking about for putting it into soup bc the soup flavor will over take the kimchi flavor im pretty sure even now if shes eating it straight she prefers fresh kimchi
omg I just thought the same thing
Wow, I was just watching this video and had the exact same thought! :D :D
I came prepared. I made my own soondubu so I won't starve watching this video.
I love how so many Korean Restaurants have this kind of settling down to eat feeling. This doesn't feel rushed at all and i can imagine this would be a good thing to do when you are with friends and just have a good time eating amazing food.
2024. Am back, this duo been my best friend during my hard time in journalistic field which had a lot of deadline. When my brain stop function, I watched you two. Thank you
Omg that ending was super adorable~ 💜 ( cutest couple I have ever seen )
im literally watchinging all the korean food and drooling
i rewarch and rewatch all these old videos to no end. whenever im sad or bored i watch.....then i get hungry so i make ramens and snack while watching......love you guys so so so so so so so much!!!!
I've been binge watching your old videos the last few weeks and been craving the food. I've been in love with Korean food since college. I've been making my own Kimchi and chigae for a few years (thanks to Maangchi's channel). I convinced the husband to go to a Korean restaurant after work yesterday. I also stopped by the local Asian grocery store nearest and got ingredients for kimbap, dakgalbi, and home made kimchi.... it's going to be korean food fest in this house real soon!
Every time I watch these videos, I just wonder how they expect their common customer to put so much food away at once. From my understanding, it's kinda weird to ask for a "doggie bag" or to pack your leftovers home from a restaurant in Korea. But I hate to waste food! I would be endlessly guilt-eating food until I was sick!
+Heidi Hudgins I take doggy bags from korean restaurants all the time. You should just ask!
Simon and Martina made a video about this restaurant like in 2008 & they said if you don't finish the food they'll give you your soondubu in a Tupperware bowl! I don't know if they still do that but yeah lol
Man I miss these days
this was my very first video i saw of them its and now i am hooked and their videos make my week im always soooo happy to see them
Seriously I cannot tell how much I love you two. Brighten my day everyday! :)
You two ought to do Korea tours for travelers. Like for a week you take awesome ppl, like me *ahem*, and show us all these restaurants and things-to-do. Because I'm pretty sure that any tourist guide thing isn't nearly as much fun as it would be with you.
Watching in 2021, while my soondubu jjigae cooks. 🥺
I love how this is like a reboot of the older soondubu video you guys made a couple of years ago! You guys changed so much, ahah!
Man, watching simon dig through the built-in-cutlery table in 2020/ 2021....
At a korean restaurant I went to in NYC, they used barley tea instead of normal water! It was so comforting
+Melanie C Which one? I live in nyc and want to try it.
+Mika Rose (Sweetdeath) There's a big soonduboo place in korea town, but I can't say that it was that great.
Haha. thanks. Yeah, a lot of the food in Koreantown is very hit and miss.
***** BCD tofu house!
Thank you!! Melanie C
I've watched this fapfap so...many...times!!! I want this stew!
IM SERIOUSLY SOO EXCITED!! WAITED WEEKS FOR A NEW VIDEO!!
I remember when this came out, I cant believe its been 6 years! 😭💕
I went to a Korean restaurant today and ordered the soondubu jigae, and it was DELICIOUS!! Though, they gave me such little rice that I couldn't finish the soup.. I had the small one and they put in sooo much dubu.. I loved it.. It was 7$..
hmmm...if you run out of rice then ask for more. In Korea, they will give you more for free. In the US, obviously they'll charge you extra unless you're Korean. In Korea, it's customary to serve extra rice and side dishes for free at restaurants.
Jun Lee Not necessarily true, I went to a Korean restaraunt in Michigan today and I asked for more rice and it was free of charge. I can't speak for the rest of the Korean restaurants in America. To put it perspective I'm not Korean I'm Polish- American.
Can you do an update comparison between Korea and Japan? For example, rice (or food in general), traffic, air quality, public transportation, eating at restaurants, etc... Thank you!
Free business idea to anyone who wants it - a restaurant that offers you a bed for a nap afterwards. I know. GENIUS.
I literally have watched every video at least three times , I am just amazed by all the food , I want to visit korea so badly.
Martina really likes mandu lol ... anyone else notice that? :D
I love you guys. I subscribed
You guys are the best. I am always super happy when i see you guys in ma subscription!!!
I can just literally plan my trip to korea just by looking at your videos!
Yay Martina did a Monty Python reference :P
Yay for British humour getting around the world.
OMG British humour is top notch! I watched so many of Eddie Izzard, Fry & Laurie and a dash of Jimmy Carr etc every time I go through some bad patch.
Actually, DO worry about little bones! My host brother in Kyoto got one stuck inside his throat after he swallowed it. He had to get it removed in a hospital. So be careful guys :)
Yeah, those bones are dangerous. I don't know why she was saying don't worry. Plus there's a much better way of removing the bone that allows all of it to come off in one piece. Martina did it all haphazardly, leaving a lot of the bone on it.
Many Korean fishes contain small bones that are pretty soft, especially when they're cooked. I was pretty shocked when one of my friends told me I can swallow the small bones down with some rice. It was uncomfortable at first because I was really afraid of choking, but after a few tries it felt normal.
But as always be careful. ^^
I went back and watched all their FABFAB, and saw your comment. She actually says to "just spit them out" after she says not to worry!
She probably meant not to worry about getting all the bones out before you eat it!
Your hair is soooooo awesome! Totally rockin the sheep hood! Love it
Omg this one of the first videos I watched from you guys. Memories~ 😍
I absolutely love eating soondubu jjigae but it is so freaking boiling hot it takes years just to finish eatting it xPP
+Camryn Yang
The trick is to transfer a little to a separate bowl where it cools much quicker. Eat then repeat. It'll be finished before you know it.
Wish they had Korean restaurants that serve these kindof foods in The Netherlands :( Sushi everywhere tho
Dinkey most sushi in other countries isn't traditional sushi. Unless you are in very diversely populated areas. Just remember you can always make your own korean food at home ! :))
You guys are hilarious. That stew does look amazing. Makes me wanna visit SK.
the music u guys put when u show the food always makes it funny xD
spam is a luxury food item in the Phillipines too same goes to canned corned beef
This was my first video of Simon and Martina and..... With whats going on..... Ots like my parents divorcing and i cry
Every time I crave Soondubu I go back & watch this eyk. 😁
I've been to Owl of Minerva only, and it was good, they even have the stone bowl rice dishes. But every restaurant, even in Korea, has a different flavour or style for their soups so you have to try many to compare. We've had soondubu at every restaurant in our neighbourhood, but this one is our personal fav. And in total honesty, the one in Bucheon is still our all time fav.
I'm korean..and I haven't eaten any korean dish in years :( WAHHH I WANT SOME
then hat have you been eating? 😂
hi i'm vernise random food, mostly american, mexican food and filipino food LOL sometimes viet food. its cause my man doesn't rly enjoy eating korean food haha
Jenna Han lol if your man doesnt like it why stop eating it? Is he korean as well?
Jenna Han but he surely eats korean girl
nikolas macalma most korean restaurants are pretty far from where we live, and I barely have the time to eat out with my friends or co-workers :( and hes not korean, hes a mix of french, italian, danish, spanish and filipino :)
Chris Park rude much?
ahhh, there's a really good place in mississauga to get soondubu jigae at c':
Tell me!! Ive been looking for a good place since forever!! MISSISSAUGA NASTIES FTW+!
It's called Buk Chang Dong Soon Tofu !! It's on Hurontario St and i'm pretty sure if you just type in the name & mississauga it'll come up :3 It's really really good, and the staff is pretty friendly c: And ayyyyy frick yeah mississauga nasties~!
rainbowsunicornssad
theres one in yonge n north york too, apparently its reallllly good.
Ive been watching eyk for 6 years.. so nostalgic!!!
Ahh all of this brings me back to when I was in Korea this past summer and I miss it so much!
Simon: I don't think this is a message I really want to convey...
Martina : *cough* I mean...Oppaaaa
Hahahahaha!
I live in the land that invented spam and we have a spam museum o.o I can get a can for a dollar at the gas station haha
We get them for a lower price... Tho they taste more salty than the usual spam :I
I want to go to the spam museum :o
hhehe great timing since it's Onew's birthday! yay for soon dubu!! ^^
watched this video last week and was really craving kimchi jigae so decided to make a video on it with my korean friend 😍
someone really has to come up with a word for food porn other than food porn ... ima go watch some more food porn (sounds soooo wrong)
Ok....soo...bear with me: I realize that the Korean language has its own characters and text, but why are there so many different spellings of the phonetic Latin script? There seems to be a consensus on Chinese and Japanese....but variations within languages like Korean and Thai are often so wildly vast. Case in point: soondubu...I've seen sundubu, sundobu, soondooboo (no joke), sunduboo, etc. While its only mildly inconvenient, I'm wondering if anyone knows why particularly.
Aaannnddd....I just saw soondooboo in this video, having not watched it all the way through before my initial inquiry. No judgement, simple curiosity.
Timmy G
Given the font they used for soondooboo it was most likely just a semi-childish was of spelling it out.
Suzy That level of close-mindedness was EXACTLY what I was trying to avoid.
Timmy G it's true though, bare with me dude cause i'm a korean as well and i had this argument over a month.
Suzy My assumption...and its an uneducated one, is that the Romanization of Korean words and all of their variations are the fault of the translator, not the originator. I assumed that much. I assumed that the variations come from the sheer number of individuals who attempted to phonetically express Korean to those of another ethnicity. I was simply looking for clarification, confirmation/verification, and/or other details that may enrich the discussion. A generalization like "Koreans are idiots" does not enrich discussion...it spoils it. I would expect much more courtesy to your own community.
Love your videos guys! I hope one day I can get to eat all these great food too!
I just watched so many of the food videos, and now I am craving for korean food! DXX
Prok Obama lol
