Same as Goku losing Krillin on Namek. At the time, Goku thought both sets of Dragonballs were bound by the same rules, and Krillin had already been revived by the Dragonballs once before, Goku thought that Krillin was gone for good.

Ehh, it was better in the original. In the Abridged, they made it kinda.. Well subpar. ESPECIALLY for anyone who has never seen the original show or moment and understand the events. Fun for Fans, but not so for anyone else.

@@Jirodyne I disagree. Both moments are awesome. Yes, the OG had more time to build up to Gohan going SSJ2 and 16's speech was full of compassion and understanding of Gohan's gentle nature, but DBZA going full 180 with 16 criticizing Gohan for being too soft was great.

Completely psychopathic but hilarious.
Not that he deserves it, but in Goku's defense, his point is that he's preparing for the NEXT threat to Earth, after Cell. One day he won't be able to keep fighting, but Earth needs a protector, so he needed to find a proper replacement and push them to and then _past_ Goku's own level.
Still causes him to do some garbage things, don't get me wrong. And Piccolo's right that the critical failure of Goku's plan is that Gohan simply doesn't want to be that person. If he'd been training, like.....I dunno, Caulifla or someone, his whole plan would have ended up looking far better, since she'd have been all on board for that.
Yes, it would have solved the _Cell_ problem...but that's not what Goku was trying to do.
Goku is playing the long game. He knows that Earth is going to need a new defender when he's gone, and that Gohan is the only one strong enough to take up that mantle. However, he recognizes that Gohan also isn't at the level he needs to be at in order to take his place (especially since every new foe seems to be far stronger than the last one), so he orchestrates the chain of events that he believes will push his son to reach that level.
The worst part is having to wait two weeks for the entire trilogy of episodes

I don't know how much it means to you, but the guys from TFS actually helped me get through depression with EP 60.
I don't know if it was partly for the nostalgia of my childhood, or rather the theme of 16's speech here. The line 'you act like you're the only one suffering' really resonated with my perspective on things.
On the one hand, it was a sign for 'no matter how hard your life seems, sometimes you just have to overcome it.
Or on the other:
Sometimes you just need to reach deep inside, focus and keep going, no matter the odds.

Just something I'd thought I'd share my thoughts on here: As a (semi-fluent)Hebrew speaker The translations in modern Hebrew don't quite add up thoroughly but if the translator made errors it could be more accurate. Starting with YUDU= they will confess. That one is probably the most accurate as "Hem YODU" and in biblical Hebrew is closely translated as 'pronounce' or 'declare' and in modern can be translated into 'They will confess'. Thus a simple vowel error could explain the difference.
The next one, LIYA, is where is gets confusing. In modern Hebrew the form should take " אני עם אלוהים " or 'Ani eim Alohim' The LI part could be a biblical reference to the 'me' as it is used to say 'to me' like he gave that to me, but the YA doesn't ring any bells for me. If anyone can provide a reason for why it translates to either "God is with me" or "I am with God" I'd be pleasantly surprised. The only correlation is in biblical times the suffix AH was added to names to indicate a closeness with God: Abram=>AbraHAm, Joshu=> JoshuA (it makes more sense in Hebrew) Unfortunately the Leah translates to Tired. Cow. this may poke a hole in the theory...
VELE is just wrong. The three forms or 'or else' are " אחרת ", " אם לא ", and " וָלֹא ". These are pronounced, in order, as "Eim Lo", "Acheret", and "Va Lo" The best guess is that whomever wrote the translations either misread Va Lo as VELE, since they didn't either see or have vowels, or we are in the wrong language.
Finally IYA: " ציפורי טרף " and "עַיִט " are the closest i could find, and neither sound close to IYA. "Tsipouri Teref" and "Ayit" The first literally translates to Bird of Prey, the other could mean an eagle, vulture, or specific bird of prey. "Ayit" is the closest and may be the reason for that translation, best guess here.
Honestly this post is just to push out some more info on the subject and maybe help those in search of more direct data than interpreted. While I can see how the words could have come about though poor translation errors, it is also possible that they are either nonsense words or of another language similar to Hebrew (perhaps another Semitic based language). Either way hope this info helps someone out there.

Oh good, I'm not the only one who still gets goosebumps when that scene hits. Because it isn't just boss music...it's protagonist boss music. It's perfect for things like what you went through having to reupload videos, because it's perseverence in the face of adversity.
I used to listen to that song a lot as well, while I was slowly digging my way out of a dark place. The growth Gohan experiences throughout episode 60 is something I relate to so strongly because my own life experiences mirror it so well.
That said...I can't wait to see how Kirby reacts to Gohan's monologue in part 2. That's something I still show people to this day because of my own experiences.
I have little to say about this situation other than this episode is perfection. Man what a ride coming back here again with a fresh face. Watch Kirby decide to make a series where SHE shows another friend DBZA from the beginning.
Day of fate was the original song played in japanese when gohan transformed against cell. The english cover was an homage to that, a kind of returning to its roots. With all the humor that team four star was known for, this serious moment is widely regarded as one of the best choices TFS made in the series.
Now that you've seen the full series and have had time to mull over the story, what do you think? I had watched all of DBZ before abridged so i had all the references to pull from with a lot of the more niche humor. I'm curious how you, someone who has never seen it, felt when you were told about the humor yet had nothing to really draw on when seeing it first hand.
Its a good choice because we have never gotten Spirit v Spirit in a dub. I have mixed feelings about TFS but I appreciate this.
The moment Gohan turns to a beast. Day of Fate | spirit vs spirit, such a good homage to the Original subs.
Kyle, just a reminder that Shenron won't bring a person back to life twice. They can't use the Earth dragon balls to revive Goku, Krillin, Master Roshi, or Chiaotzu, as they have all died and been revived once before by Shenron.
But Porunga, Sheron from Namek can do it, he actually can do it twice, he did it with Krillin.

When I saw Gohan go SS2 the first time on the original series as a kid the first thing I thought was “Oh Cell, you are so screwed now.” And then seeing this version with that song the first time. Also I don't know if anyone caught the two song references. Gohan says I'm one Step Closer to the Edge and Cell saying: In the end it didn't even matter. The two songs are of course "In the End." and "One Step Closer" both by Linkin Park. In the early days around Kazaa and RUclips these where popular and the first AMV made. :)

This song. This moment. This made me cry with joy as I felt all the emotions. TFS outdid themselves & Masako freakin kills it here.

When this originally dropped I didn't know the song Spirit vs Spirit. But I fell in love with it!!! I kept repeating It sent shivers down the my spine!
At the time when they released it on Amazon it became a Top Seller! Heck I was one of the people who bought it! It was for roughly 2-3 weeks the #1 song!
So many years later and I STILL constantly listen to it!
That is kind of touching "This song realy inspired me to get this channel back to where it is now" the lyrics would have been a true feeling hearing "I cannot surrender at the turning point of Destiny" as you fought to upload everything back again.
Seriously, as someone who was a fan in the first channel, seeing it all go away and then all the work to get it back and to the level it's at now was incredible.

Piccolo inadvertently led Cell straight to the androids by fighting 17; Cell sensed Piccolo’s energy.
Not his fault, he was protecting everyone at Kame House by fighting. He didn't know Cell could detect him. @@lankancheetah
@@VegetaLF7 I might be misremembering but I recall (in the actual series), Piccolo being aware Cell could sense energy, and he knew the risk of fighting 17 but he thought he could finish it before Cell got there.
@@lankancheetah That’s right. It’s not exactly “wrong” though. In fact, he might’ve been able to finish 17 with the Hellzone Grenade if he didn’t have a barrier. I still think 16 not doing anything before 17 was fully absorbed was more “wrong” than Piccolo trying (and failing) to beat 17 (and the ticking clock of Cell sensing him) since 16 knew about the threat level of 17 getting ate.

Definitely glad I'm not the only one who still gets goosebumps as the Day of Fate cover comes on in this episode--even after having just gone through TFS's episode 60 commentary for it just the other week. But it's just such a powerful moment for Dragon Ball but also anime in general, and their choosing to more or less play it straight and use the original song played as he transformed was a great choice. Also would listen to the song at the gym too, lol. I'm glad Kirby also like, settled into it after the "16 did this???" bit and vibed with it. Been enjoying seeing her reactions and looking forward to the other parts and then going onward!

Fun fact the 16’s bomb being gone was forshadowed when he arived at the arena. and noticed he for some reason was registered as 10 pounds lighter.

Woah it’s feels like just yesterday u guys started DBZA Teamfourstar has come so far. Gohan is really the MVP just a kid & he’s already so impressive can’t wait for part 2. 16’s speech is so moving and true to truly keep the peace Gohan had to stop holding back.Love that 16 throws Cell’s line back at him for 18. The way Goku thought this out is insanely impressive but Piccolo is of course correct. The Cell Jrs from their birth are just absolutely disgusting and disturbing in every way Vegeta jr is my favorite 😂. The music and intensity with super Sayain 2 is glorious and unforgettable it makes me emotional everytime.

I’m mostly impressed with our planning and consistency to record these and get them out every week! It takes a lot just to find time for us both to be available and it’s stressful at times but we get it done!

Kirby, imagine that part dropping, and having to wait 2 WEEKS for the next part. IT WAS TORTURE. This in my opinion was the PEAK of TFS, and it was such a shame they stopped. I understand their reasoning, but it doesn't mean it didn't suck that they were not going to continue. Also, if you want a good cover of the song, Jonathan Young does a metal cover of Day of Fate on his channel, you should totally check it out!
I wonder what would happen if you caved in Cell's skull, assuming he has a skull. We know he can regrow half his body, including his head, but what would happen if instead of blowing it clean off you cause a bunch of objects to get stuck in there? It wouldn't kill him, but they could inflect lasting damage.

what some reactors have been doing is after this moving on to DBZ Kai. its acutally a very good point to transition.
They should definitely do Kai before moving on to Buu Bits. They've already done Kai 1 and 2 though, so they just have 2.9, 3, and 3.5 left. I would assume they plan on doing those since they did the first two, but I guess we'll see.
